Just sharing a bit about my faecal seeding program, remember not to use coated seeds!! Results in sheep may vary as they tend to grind seeds more than cattle. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks Cameron, just stumbled on your video. Brilliant idea, and it works. I tried many years ago to get Kikuyu to take on my hobby farm. I had heard about the process. I spoke to a few. local farmers and received a lot of blank looks. But I went ahead and gave it a try. And got some small hits in the paddock. I had not thought of the other grass types as you explained. Brilliant, and well done you, Cheers.
Top effort on information and entertainment 👍
We've done this with pigs in the past. We also used to produce a lot of pumpkins this way as well in the pig paddocks.
Great video! I think Greg Judy has a long lost son with an Aussie accent! Lol!
I picked that up also, good on him. Got youth on his side so will go along way.
Cam, just came across your videos - good on you and pls keep posting. It's refreshing and very helpful to get an Australian context for all of this regen stuff. This poo seed spreading idea is bloody awesome! Thank you, am going to give it a go when we get our cows.
Thanks Misa! And yes im just about to get back into the groove of posting regularly!
with solid standing body grass you can broadcast clover medic in april and then heavily trample it with cattle - return in sept/oct if enough rain has got it up - broadcast seed by hand if needed - it works best with a lot of trampled grass = or maybe lucerne into clover in sept
Nice one mate 👍👍
Thanks mate !
Very helpful! Thank you!
Thanks mate!
Super informative thank you! Cows are cool!
Great video Cameron. I'm keen to try this myself. Was the seed you used covered with rhizobium inoculant?
Well done Cameron. Great value.
Thanks Mate
I've done this with my sheep for a few years and I've seen decent results. It's hard to tell what's brought in from birds, hay, or them pulling seed of existing plants since I didn't close anything off but it was an old dead cedar field and after a lot of clearing and some lime it's looking good.
Thats good mate, I wasn't to sure how sheep would go in regards to grinding up the seed. But yes thats true sometimes its hard to tell, just gotta keep and eye out for the variety you planted i suppose..
G'Day Cameron, some great vids you are doing, hoping for some new ones come spring! How can I get a list of the hard seeds that can be used please? Thanks
have you tried letting in chickens about day 2 & 3 to let them scratch and spread the poop and get a better seed distribution? Do you thing that would be helpful?
Eh good on ya mate.
Interesting :D Genuinely confused why you would do this over an old fashioned broadcast + let them tread in the seeds?
Cute
Where are you located Cam? Keep up the good work. Hi Glen 🐕 😂
Hey Rhonda, we are in Murgon QLD. Haha Glens a funny bloke
@@camerongriffin3860 we are just out of Woodford, so your experience is applicable to our area. Looking forward to more postings of your methods and of Glens antics too.
Hi cameron, what would you recomend for woody weeds, i dont want to use herbicides, the weeds are already about 7 meters tall
Goats
can you show us a field about a month later and then 3 months to see the stages and development?
That's some good shit. 👍
😂thanks mate
Good stuff. What happens to the germinating plant when the cow pat breaks further down/crumbles? Seems like there’d be further losses and that would lower the seeding percentage.
Yeah that’s it Eli, eventually some die off because the area of that manure pile can’t support that many plants but I guess the stronger seedlings survive and that’s what you let go to seed.
@@camerongriffin3860 Nice one. Do you reseed in any other ways? Such as having a small spreader on a quad and doing a pass before letting the cattle in to trample&fertilise the seed. Would be interesting to compare the methods. You also mentioned that not all the seed pass through the animal. As it’s hard seed and not cracked, the nutritional value from it would be negligible?
I’ve been trying to mix it up and experiment on this block, some strips I did faecal seeding and then some I did as you described, broadcasted it out and then trampled so will do an update as to how it goes. Yeah I don’t think they would get much out of the seed to be honest but who knows
can you use coated seed
Does this work for sheep 🐑?
could I seed with my faeces?
Hey Nicholas, yes I would recommend trying this with avocado seeds of even mango seeds!
Where is your farm ? country ..state ?
Queensland, Australia
@@camerongriffin3860where in Qld?
How about chickens?
Let the grass grow taller. Taller blades = solar energy harvesters. We are soil microbe farmers, not cow farmers, not grass farmers. See Greg Judy for more info
Gday Bill, Greg Judy is bloody awesome I’ve read a lot of his stuff, and if you look at this grass it’s gone to seed head, that’s as tall as it’s gonna get.. now we ration it out during the non growing period. Cam
@@camerongriffin3860 I wasn’t necessarily talking to you my friend
