  • LOL, "we're not professionals" but you did a great job! You also made it look much easier than I'm sure it really was. Back in 2018 I had a hunter green conversion van and it was super hot even still in spring. I knew I had to lower the temperature inside so I painted it white. I called it my ghetto paint job (because it was, LOL). I bought exterior latex paint and painter's tape at Walmart and all of the other supplies at Dollar Tree (brushes, roller, pan, tarp). One gallon didn't cover enough so I had to buy a second gallon. All in I spent about $50. Yours looks much nicer, but mine did the job I needed it to do. ;-) That white paint job dropped my van's interior temperature about ten degrees and was a life saver!

  • ❤❤❤You just gave me enough confidence to do my car by myself. I have a subcompact Hyundai Accent & I'm already "handy", crafty & I can paint so I now am confident I can repaint my "Gold Nugget". Although I'm gonna keep her gold, I'm just going to use a more saturated & sparkly gold & Do a thick, thick, thick clear coat🫶🏽 Thank you!! This is the 1st video I've watched of yours🎉 I heard -WinterIsBlu- talking about you doing your van & I came to see too😊

  • We have an old Honda where the paint was wearing off. My husband hand painted it. Make sure you sand it good first. He had spots that he didn’t sand good enough so he sanded and painted it again. Only the cost of paint and not thousands .

  • I honestly didn't have high hopes, and am shocked at how good it looks. You are so inspiring to me how you dive in headfirst and get your hands dirty and figure it out. As females we're not always encouraged to do that, so I think its awesome.

  • So great to see you in a van finally, I think you'll really love it. You'll have the room you need and not have to pull a trailer! We converted a van years ago for travel and vacations and it's so great to just keep everything you need in the vehicle and take off. Very excited for you, and can't wait to see what you do to the inside. Great job on the outside paint - you're awesome! BTW, ours was a light tan color and we loved it.

  • Mix 4 parts Rustoleum, 3 parts acetone, 1 part Majic enamel hardener from Tractor Supply with a cap full of Japan drier. Get you a high density foam roller, roll you on as many coats as you can, then a week later come back to wet sand and polish it. You’ll be absolutely SHOCKED at the results.

  • Gosh you're awesome! So empowering so see other women out there doing this stuff. To keep the light colour re heat reflective, what about a White Pearl mix with something like Purple or Orange etc. Still white but with the pearl vibe I think that will hide imperfections. Looking forward to the next update! 😁❤

  • We had a 1997 dodge van we camped in. It was originally a green color, based on the door jam, but painted white. I wanted to use Monstaliner to repaint it. We ended up selling it for other reasons. I love this series of van build!

  • A really long time ago, I painted my vw a different color. After all the sanding we wiped all the dust off with a rag dipped in gasoline. It really cleaned the surfase so the paint adhered. Not sure is we did it because we used automotive paint. You did great on your van.

  • I spray painted my white van with Rust-Oleum. No sanding first or anything. Just a spot spray here and there. Looks like a cr@p job when up close. but ANYTHING is better than the peeled paint with rust showing, not to mention, I saved $$$$$ of dollars! Was quoted an insane amount to have it done professionally. (ssshhh, don't tell anyone, but while I was spraying, the wind flipped over the piece of paper to protect my window, sticking it up backwards on the wet roof. I couldn't get the paper unstuck. Ripped off what I could and sprayed back over the spot again. ;) :)

  • Sure looks nice on camera at a distance...if you want to thin out the paint for every 12 oz of paint you can use 4 oz water is the recipe Ive used to thin out the paint a bit to come out of the sprayer nicely. Not sure about oil but, could google that. The white looks super nice!! 😊

    • Well oil and water don’t mix together so you’d have to thin with acetone

    • Brooke made a life choice and has embraced the change. Assume the van "felt right." Towing anything doubles your responsibilities and costs. RVs are for campgrounds - you utilize septic, water & electric That's what RV's (especially the ultra lights ones are designed for. Vans are better option for boondocking. Put out an awning if space is a priority. However a van limits where she can boondock. An SUV with AWD allows boondocking in more varied locations and would expect cheaper to run than a E350.
