The Toronto Blue Jays offense regularly gets criticized for a lack of production. Even though Toronto Blue Jays fans are right to feel this way, the pitching this year from the Blue Jays might not be as good as you think. At the time of recording this video the Blue Jays are ranked 27th in the MLB in terms of pitching. The Toronto Blue Jays pitching was always supposed to be their strength, but so far that hasn't been the case. In this video we are going to talk about the pitchers and decide whether or not this is something to worry about or if the rotation will eventually right the ship.

  • Alternative take: Aside from a few terrible outings, most of which were early on, the Blue Jays pitching has been excellent and is a key reason they are above .500. The worry is not "Will they get better?" so much as "Can the pitchers keep pulling off wins without much run support."

  • One thing for sure is that we have a manager problem

  • People may ask how can the Jays offence be ranked so low and our pitching be ranked low but still be over .500 and fighting for a wild card spot. Two reasons. First we tend to win small but lose big and since out defense is so good we don't give up many unearned runs. On a positive note both our pitching and offense have been a lot better the last 10 games than the first 10 games. Hopefully they can keep up that trend.

  • Have you seen the starting pitching the last six starts???? 5 ER in 32 innings, you can't get better than that. I think the pitching will be fine. It's, as always.. stiuational hitting that is their biggest issue.

  • Starting pitching has been good. You can’t take stats too seriously 20 games in. It’s the hitting that every Jays fan is concerned about.

  • When Romano takes as long as he does to close, he goes up to like 20-30 pitches which means he can't pitch the next day. It's really bad and he lets too many guys hit and walk

  • Too small a sample size. They’ve been carrying this team and is the sole reason for them being above 500.

  • Romano is horrible. It's not how many games he saves. It's the nerve recking way in which he gets the saves. A closer shouldn't have fans constantly on EDGE when he takes the Mount. He's overhyped and overrated. I tuned out each time he made an appearance 😢.

    • Jimi is our true closer right now. He struck out the side of the 1-2-3 batters in the line up in the 8th last night. Romano is a blown save waiting to happen every time he pitches.

    • @@harveyotoole2029 You actually want your best reliever to be fliexible and pitch in the most important situations anyways--which may come in the 7th or 8th. So if Jimi is their best guy right now, let him take that role. The save stat causes managers to misuse their pen alot

  • We should absolutely be worried about the Blue Jays relievers. I've said time and time again that guys that throw 93 mph as relievers are like BP for good hitters. Even Romano worries me a lot. The SP will be solid, but I really dislike this pen.

  • I just don't trust Romano (as a closer) - personal opinion, the overall pitching will get better as the season progresses. Gausman and Francis are killing us, Bassitt's first 2 starts were bad(but starting to come around). Richards and Mayza concern me too.
