Rooney has got to be one of the most underrated players ever. Skin head Rooney was on a level most only dream of
Wayne Rooney at 17 was already a fully formed World Class player. I don’t think he took perfect care of himself, so he declined pretty early, but in his prime he was better than any current English player
Skin head Rooney was the definition of an animal.
Totally agree, from a Liverpool fan. If Ronaldo hadn’t been there Rooney would have far more personal accolades. But he did what was best for the team
Underrated? Why do people love using that word out of place? The man was playing champions league football at 16 and a top scorer for England. In what capacity has he ever not been rated?
Yes Sir❤❤❤❤❤ for me he was the goat
Kids don't understand how lucky they are to get these inside stories for free on demand. In the 90s this story could sell a monthly magazine
Man, that's so true! Subscription was on a whole other level too - the postbox😂
I was watching a clip where Rio talked about the Man U guys playing SOCOM back in the day. Bet the s*n would've ate that up.

So Wayne Rooney gave penaldo a career 😭
@@realtimehuman8572 Genuinely an all-time classic and fitting of the "Playstation Hits" banner on the PS2 covers. Wish they'd bring it back.
Remember when Rooney said Jui Sung Park is the most underrated player. Rooney clearly sees what sacrifice means for the team, and it’s about winning the game and title. Rooney is definitely one of the most technically sound yet physically strong player.
Ferguson himself regrets not starting Ji Sung Park in that UCL final at Wembley. He was that good.
Do you mean vs Barcelona? Hmm who would he have removed?
Rooney , Berbatov , CR and PJS were the reason why I fucking hate Man United back then as a Chelsea fan. .. Right when I thought "Yep , we gonna win this Carabao and Community Shield Cup" and BAM these 4 motherfuckers launched a nuclear attack on our ass non-stop like those 2000's Non-Stop Hits Music CDs. .. Also when we were about to win PL , of course Rooney had to be skinhead and eat all teams as his breakfast. .. Same fucking thing happened when MU won UCL. .. Chelsea met MU in quarter final(I think , too much cocaine over the years my memory is hazy) and these motherfuckers got away with first degree murder on Chelsea's ass. .. John Terry looked like a cat chasing laser light when PJS and CR did the One-Two play
Ji Sung Park is one of my top 5 players ever
Players like that never get recognised for how key they were to a team.
That’s why Cristiano was wrong to bash Rooney last year. Classless
Rooney was the one bashing him first

Not just Ronaldo, he did it for Berba, Saha, RVP, Ibra. He is the guy, you know, will always have your back. And his record breaker of his goals was a winning one in dying minutes. He is also the highest goal scorer for United. That speaks for itself.
Chicharito and Van Nistelrooy...
second highest
Ronaldo is an asshole... He rather had his team lose a game but got his name on the score sheet than had his team won but didn't score... Yes, Ronaldo is a world class goal-scorer, there's no goalkeeper / defender on this planet that can easily stop him from scoring goals, but the only thing that matters for Ronaldo is scoring goals... Rooney on the other hand is a very good team player, he doesn't care if he doesn't score as long as his team wins, he can play as a striker, midfielder, winger, even goalkeeper / defender, we can't win with 11 Ronaldo's (Yeah Ronaldo is a better goal-scorer than Rooney but what the tactic gonna be? 0-0-11?) but we can win with 11 Rooney's...
so all strikers are assholes because they do their job of scoring goals? Ronaldo gets mad that he doesnt score any goals because he wants to contribute to the win as well. I am pretty sure he is happy with his team winning even if he doesnt score.@@AmatPadilNique
@@AmatPadilNiqueRonaldo is a serial winner,he has one of the most decorated records OAT.Although I do think during the first half of last season he pinned the blame on ETH for not playing him when it was best for the team,he always has desired to win.
Unfortunately he was a victim of his own versatility and selflessness. He often gets overlooked because he didn't play consistently as a forward to be called the greatest forward/goal scorer ever or play consistently as a midfielder to be called the greatest too. Man just wanted to help the team in any way he could and he was so good at it.
Well honestly he wasnt, and his achievement were justified. Name a single english forward that has better than his, no? Thats right, Wazza IS STILL the best striker/forward in the country, no way purely the amount of goals would stamp the quality of one, any real baller would recognise this fact, and not because which club he played for, but how he played the game.
My fear for future generations they see goals and think Kane is better than Rooney and this is a genuine fear ffs
He should have tried his luck in Europe. I wonder if he's taken the time to learn to speak more than one language?
@Vu Gia Khanh As they did Shearer up against Rooney. It's a generational thing, I guess.
@Vu Gia Khanh In terms of football intelligence and gaolscoring, they're kind of similar. But Rooney is more aggressive, dynamic and faster. Totally agree that people who never watched Rooney will judge based on his goals and not recognize his other qualities.
That why I, a die hard Man United fan always said that Rooney was the real heartbeat of Man United from 2006 to 2014.
A prime Wazza gets into any team and is any defenders nightmare and any managers dream.... LEGEND
I loved Rooney simply because he gave everything all the time
Rooney was an amazing player he could do everything. Humble Arsenal fan .
When u master ALL of the basics of football to perfection, u get Rooney.

Literally said exactly the same thing whenever anyone asks about the best player I’ve seen live at St James Park. Hands down Wayne Rooney, he used to dominate us from start to finish and never ever stopped running. Declan Rice also has similar attributes everytime I watch him live too.

Because the world needs to marvel over you. Not just an island. Not to say people abroad didn't rate him, but the elegance mind-blowing artistry is what grabs peoples eyes, and we don't make those and also the British idea of artistry is very different from the rest of the world. We have a habit of selling to the rest of the world trash and convincing them it's cool then selling to them at expensive prices in general. Rooney isn't trash, though, but you get the process and the dam buster, bull dog, thing. It's all culture.
True Rooney is one of those players who can do everything. Headers strong, shot strong and perfect aim. Even later on Rooney was still rapid but he lost his acceleration
Crazy how a simple error can mislead people. He sacrifices himself for the TEAM not for RONALDO. Ronaldo played his HUGE part in that team success, along with Rooney.
I don’t see any English player today fit to lace his boots. Unbelievable talent from 16-24
I think Kane > Rooney despite Prime Rooney > Prime Kane. However, Rooney is still my most favourite football player. He screams passion, which a lot of players lack nowadays
@@b0bbymoon452Nah Kane is a beast and has a lot of similar traits to Rooney but sorry the guy played sooo many positions and done it well. I honestly don’t see any one else lobbing keepers from half way line or talking shit to a red and the INSTANTLY banging in a goal. Kane has played as the main man his whole career Rooney didn’t and I think if he stayed a true striker he would of had more desire to play longer as it gets Fucking tiring being one of the main reasons for a lot of our wins.
Underrated Rooney once again! Absolute menace!
Not even a Man U fan but I always liked Rooney. His work rate was amazing. 1 thing i always noticed with Ferguson tactics was he always found the right balance in his tactics. Spot on too. That’s why he needed players like Rooney, park, fletcher, hagreaves etc to do the general work. Just imagine Rooney also stood there like ronaldo . It would disrupt the balance of the team.
People don’t understand the icon that is Wayne Rooney
Dude had a fucking high-powered motor on him
Rooney is a underrated legend
True United fans know that Rooney was the cape that allowed CR7 to fly. That partnership was utterly devastating. Both brought the best out of each other, but that's only because Rooney had so many other strings to his bow. Rooney could do what CR7 did, maybe not to that level but he could do it. CR7 couldn't dream of doing what Rooney did. Pressing came as naturally to Rooney as step overs did to CR7. Rooney was pressing long before these modern teams made it fashionable.
Rooney stepped down for Ronaldo cause he realized that man would do better at that job. It’s called humility and determination to win. He didn’t put his ego first and say “I’m better than him”. He realised he wasn’t.
@Astro No, Rooney allowed Ronaldo to shine because Rooney knew he had many more elements to his game that could benefit the team. That's why he went on to have success at various positions, after Ronaldo left. It wasn't as simplistic as Ronaldo being better at that particular job. This makes a mockery of who Rooney was and what he brought to the table. You are too young to understand what Rooney contributed during that period. Don't worry, that's why we, the elders are here. We're happy to elucidate young bloods like yourself.
@@kh7688 It is that simple. Ronaldo was the best in the world at that point. Why tf would you want to undermine that and say “yeah let me take his role instead”. Young blood? I was 16 when United won the double double in 08. Rooney was a class player. But to say he would have done just as good at Ronaldo’s position is delusional. Rooney was used the best he could. This notion of “poor Rooney he sacrificed everything for Ronaldo” sacrificed what exactly? Stats? They won everything together. That’s why they play. Not for the stats sheet. Ronaldo was the best at what he did and Rooney realised that. That’s a team player. That’s why they won. Don’t let Nostalgia ruin basic understanding of football.
@Astro Written like a remedial child. If you were only 16 when United did the double, back in 08. That makes you a young blood. It also explains your hard-on for Ronaldo. Like I said, you're a little boy, and your comments illustrate that perfectly. Firstly, you need to pay attention. I never once wrote that Rooney would have done a better job than Ronaldo. In fact, my initial comment states that Ronaldo was the better goalscorer. What I am trying to hammer into that empty cocoon of yours, is that Rooney resisted the urge to run into the box to allow for Ronaldo to make those runs. From 08 onwards, Ronaldo played as a wide-forward, which meant he no longer tracked back. That's where the likes of Tevez, Rooney, Park etc, all came in. They would track and press because Ronaldo was better suited to the role. If you remember that season like I do (you won't, because you were still waking up from wet dreams, I was well into my 20s by then). When I tell kids like you that Rooney made sacrifices, compromises, concessions or whatever word you want to use. I am stating a fact, not an opinion. Your opinion has less than the value of a zero sum, when compared to the facts that I'm stating. Rooney wasn't some lesser player that hung back because he had no choice but to let Ronaldo shine. Rooney was just as feared and respected by the opposition players, managers, and fans alike. Your ignorant comments undermine the importance of Rooney and that's understandable. You were a stupid little 16 year old girl and now you're a stupid little 31 year old. Not much has changed in the intervening 15 years. What a shame.
@@kh7688 Oh look at old wise grandpa here with his wise knowledge. This is football calm down mate not astrophysics. How was it like fighting the Germans? Hard on for Ronaldo? I don’t practice hardons on football players unlike some. I know you’re a bit up on your own ass, my point is Rooney deciding not to be a dedicated goal scorer and not playing a similar position to Ronaldo’s is why they were so successful together. I never had a problem with your comment. I was just adding on. You were the one who got all emo talking about it being a mockery. Maybe you haven’t been taking your meds so my fault. It’s not a sacrifice it’s playing a team sport and realising which role is best suited for your team to win. If there’s a player that excels at a position better than you you don’t overstep them. Rooney’s greatest attribute was never to be a dedicated forward. Not getting the limelight isn’t a sacrifice, some might even say a blessing. Was Maldini sacrificing when all the forwards in his team were winning player of the year awards and he didn’t when he did his job perfectly? No because he was content with winning. That’s the main goal. Nah you’re just one of those guys that goes on say “Ronaldo owes it to Rooney” but won’t admit it the other way around. Safe.
Rooney did leave it all on the pitch, at one point was better the cristiano ronaldo. I just wish he took better care of his body. He could of been in the goat conversation.
What point was this?
@Trevor Distance Ronaldo played better than Rooney in that tournament he scored 2 goals and made it to the final Ronaldo was one of the best player on that tournament so get your facts right
