HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

So sit back relax turn your brain off from the worries of the world and enjoy today’s video. • Greetings BigStackD from New York. I have to say that I am a fan of your videos and I appreciate the educational value you added by putting captions in the videos to explain what you are doing. Even though these videos are "ASMR", I find myself up late at night watching and learning on your videos when I should be sleeping. But it is all good! You are one of my favorite DIY KZhead Content Creators and you have inspired me to use tools and think about solving problems. I so wish that I could melt down metals in my area but that is so not allowed, I may have to move to another state to even begin considering getting a furnace and start reclaiming metal. The one last thing I have to do is get over my fear of fire. I have been burned a few times in my life and I try to avoid messing with things that can potentially go BOOM! But I am learning so that fear will be turned into knowledge, then wisdom! I hope you, your loved ones and your cute furbabies are doing well! I enjoy seeing Ingots and Bullion on your videos! And finally, another reason why I can't relax during your videos, you cook some delicious items on your shows and that makes me hungry! LOL But I truly love everything in your videos, thank you so much for them. I will be looking into the other videos you have for more information on furnaces and salvage!!! Thanks again and stay safe.

I kinda like it but was hoping for a Pepto Bismol pink which woulda been even more funky. Needs a Big Stack D sticker to dress it up a bit more. Coulda sworn you'd already done one full crucible beehive shaped aluminum ingot on a previous melt but I didn't see it on the shelf. I guess that was the one you melted down into bars.

Just a suggestion, if you want to remove the silver contacts from all of those brass/copper items you're setting aside, just set up your torch and use it to heat the contacts and remove with pliers. That way, you can keep them separated and build up the silver and be able to melt the rest. If you want to go that route. See ya next Friday!

  • As you opened that thing up, considering how old it was likely to have been, I figured anything in it that carried current was going to be copper. Once upon a time copper was a lot less expensive.

  • Here's a tip for you. Use a larger propane tank, and it won't frost up as easily. You can also manifold 2 tanks together to increase the withdrawal rate, which reduces freezup. I use a 100-lb tank, and it won't freeze up unless it's nearly empty.

    @sddirt6840@sddirt68402 ай бұрын
    • I thought about getting bigger tanks and I would save 15% in my gas costs but to get the bottles swapped over I have to go all the way into town it’s about an hour round-trip, whereas these small tanks I use are handy and portable and to replace them it’s only a 20 minute round-trip and I normally replace five or six at a time when I go to Bunnings👍🏻.

      @bigstackD@bigstackD2 ай бұрын
    • @bigstackD I would guess that a 100 lb. Tank would last at least as long as 6 of the small ones. A 100-pounder holds 24 gallons of propane, and the little BBQ ones hold 4 gallons.

  • Gotta pay attention to those burn bans. Here in Texas, a good chunk of our state is on fire. I was pretty close this week. I guessed 18 kilos. 👍
