and think that there are people who always talk about catenaccio when speaks of Italy ... only in the first half they had to be ahead of 3 goals... then as often happened to the Azzurri after having to play against Holland, Romania and France in the group they had to meet immediately the excellent Spain who became Champion winning only on penalties against Italy (without Gattuso and Pirlo)
they lost against Holland (0-3) and Roumanie (1-1)so a good team is something else, there we"re not good enough

@Escu Dero Unfortunately in National Team Del Piero never convinced totally and disappointed many times, I know that...but Di Natale did not much better and against Spain Donadoni played with Aquilani who has never been at the height of the Italian National Team...generally but especially against Spain the heavyweights Cannavaro, Gattuso and Pirlo (+ Totti that refused) would have been surely lethal!

I remember watching this at school. Our team was awful and this euro was a big humiliation, especially the match against Holland. I thought it couldn't be worse but they decided to prove me wrong two years later. What a shit period 2007-2011 was to support France.

Portugal became champions despite finishing third in a really easy group (the didn't even win a group game) and only won 1 game out of 7 in 90 minutes. That is just awful. The Euro 2008 Spain team were one of the best teams ever in international football.
Its not just about football, 2000’s were fantastic years under every side. But of course, if we talk just about football the only thing we can do is visit KZhead and cry 😢

This was a France team in rebuilding phase. Their last trophy in 2000, it took 18 years to win something big again. Similar to Italy post 2008. Italy was in transition in Euro 2012, WC 2014 & Euro 2016. And now it they have won a major trophy again. Interestingly currently, both Spain & Germany are in a rebuilding phase. But Spain is a bit more polished. The stronger & established Euro team now is definitely France. It would be interesting to see in World Cup 2020, with stronger Spain (they had striker issue, same with Italy), established France, question marks for team such as Germany, Netherlands, Portugal and how Italy gonna carry their momentum.

It was the Italian Federation that was full of Apathy and Carelessness towards the Team in terms of Selection, Training and Grooming throughout between 2008 and 2018. Perché pur pareggiando 0-0 la Spagna si dimostrò di gran lunga superiore in quella partita. Però, basandosi sul gioco, la Spagna del 2008 si guadagnò pienamente il passaggio del turno. In ogni caso, se ben si fosse passato il turno, non me la sarei sentita di sottovalutare la Russia. Quest'ultima battè l'Olanda del 2008, la favorita di quel torneo che dominò il girone di ferro, battendo l'Italia 3-0 e la Francia 4-1. I was there in Pasadena 🥹. Baggio played literally with one leg ( not one know he had 3 infiltrate syringe in his left knee) . Was unreal cause brazil looked like could never ever score even if they played 30 minutes more ...and ROBY had twice the right occasion but on his left leg . ..on top missed the penalty with right leg being over charged . Not one know ...but it could have be Italy 5 cups Brazil 4 now ..instead is vice versa .
