    • You do realise that their are (autotune) effects on his mic because they want to do it as close as the studio version. It's not because an artist uses it that they can't sing. Of course there are a lot of artists that overdo it, not the weeknd, but he still uses it. Please learn the concept of autotune.

They allow more creative freedom than most producers since they are also artists and they know how to do things right. I mean for some people who like how they produce. It's not easy to get them either. They have only produced a few tracks besides their own. But how their co-writing and producing this song makes it better or not is a matter of taste.     • bad news fellas: 1. This is a performance on a t.v. show. Performances on broadcast television have for over 40 years used backing tracks and suites of effects to replicate the studio recording as much as possible. This isn't due to lack of talent from the performers, it's a marketing play to get people to consume the music more. 2. Every performer for the last 30 years has used "Auto-Tune" (here having the meaning of any software that does pitch correction). Live, Studio recording, any time. They all do it. Again, it has little to do with the actual talent of the artist and everything to do with wanting to put forth the cleanest sounding product so more people will consume it. It's simply another tool in the tool box, though like any it can be abused and overused.
