Hello, this is XboxAhoy and this is the final episode of my Black
In this episode we're covering the G11.
It fires a 3-round burst, and is unlocked once you've purchased all of the other assault rifles.
The G11 is a prototype German weapon, designed by Heckler und Koch.
Development started in the late 1960s, and the first prototypes emerged in 1970. Later designs entered field testing in the 1980s, and the design was finalised in 1990.
The G11 was intended to be a highly-engineered, modern replacement for the G3 battle rifle: a high-tech weapon fitting for a space age era.
Perhaps the most notable feature of the G11 is its use of caseless ammunition: rather than using a brass cartridge to contain the charge, the propellant is instead moulded around the bullet, eliminating the need for case ejection.
Such a change is fraught with engineering difficulty, however - the least of which is heat dissipation, as the traditional brass cartridge acts as a heatsink for thermal energy generated upon firing.
Early models were prone to ammunition cook-off: the chamber would heat up to a temperature that would spontaneously ignite a round, resulting in uncontrollable automatic fire.
Nevertheless, the caseless concept was perfected with help from Dynamit Nobel, and after a series of prototypes and field testing, the improved G11K2 variant went into limited production in 1990, with 1000 units produced.
With this weapon proving significantly more effective than the now-venerable G3 in testing, it seemed as though the G11 would be the first service rifle to use caseless ammunition.
However, the project was scuppered by the reunification of East and West Germany in 1991 - political reorganisation and a lack of funding would be the weapon's downfall.
Since the scrapping of the project, others have flirted with caseless designs: but none have come to fruition.
Ultimately, the German Bundeswehr would replace the G3 rifle with the more traditional G36 design.
The G11's caseless ammunition was of a custom design: the 4.73-by-33 millimetre round.
Magazines are of a standard box type, and in-game hold 48 rounds total.
Damage is moderately low, with per-shot lethality on par with the low damage automatic rifles.
You'll need 3 shots to kill at close range, and 4 at a distance.
This means the per-burst lethality is, on average, lower than that of the M16, which can potentially kill in just two shots.
The G11's rate of fire is much higher, however: firing at 1250 rounds per minute within the burst, for a total effective sustained rate of about 525 rounds per minute.
This faster fire rate means the weapon can more effectively tackle moving targets, and has a lower time-to-kill upon a lethal burst.
Recoil is very mild too, with the G11 able to put 3 bullets in a very small area: while you may not be able to down a target in a single burst at long range, with such low recoil the G11 can place multiple bursts on the same target in relatively quick succession.
Aim time is standard for the assault rifles, at 250 milliseconds - and reloads are moderately quick, at 2.7 seconds: given the large magazine and conservative usage of ammunition, reloads are seldom an issue with the G11.
One interesting trait is the weapon's superior hipfire performance: it boasts the highest degree of accuracy from the hip of all assault rifles, sharing the same performance as an SMG.
This means it is quite effective at a closer range - and while you do need an entire burst to connect to kill, the G11 is far more likely to emerge unscathed in a close-range gunfight than the M16.
The G11 is a very strong primary weapon that rewards accurate players with lightning-quick lethality.
A well placed burst won't give your opponent any chance to fight back, and the G11's generous magazine means you can place burst after burst downrange quickly.
A blend of beneficial traits means this weapon can be used at any range effectively - great hipfire accuracy and low recoil means that the G11 is seldom left wanting in a firefight.
However, the G11 is subject to the usual detriment of a burst-fire weapon: you are highly reliant on first-burst lethality to ensure you preserve your advantage.
The delay between bursts means automatic weapons have time to catch up, and could spell your doom against a savvy foe.
Still, despite some weaknesses the G11 is still a compellingly effective primary weapon - capable of closing out an enemy assault and deflecting entire groups of enemies from a good position.
While the burst weapons tend to be more effective at a mid-to-long range, the G11's rate of fire and superior hipfire round out the G11's versatility.
In most cases this caseless German rifle shines: if you're comfortable with a burst-fire weapon, elect the G11...
...and you'll find yourself in killstreak heaven.
I miss this series. These videos were always extremely high quality.
Caleb Warren I mean his videos are still really high quality, just less CoD.
Vbetv Mj4bzrp1
All of ahoy's video are of high quality
YESS
are you saying the other videos aren't???
I love how people ask themselves why the G11 exists in this game while it was designed only a couple of years after the events, but they don't ask themselves why CoD gives us RPK's in the 1960's and RPD's in 2016 (MW2).
because the G11 simply wasnt invented in the time period it was set in. plus the PROTOTYPE was made in 1970, at least 5 years after black ops 1. and the first time it would have been used in a real life combat scenario would have been earliest 1980's i do see your point about the RPK but another reason behind it is that the G11, due to using a unique ammo type, probably wouldnt be around for to long. also, the point you made about the RPD is that some guns are just so good and reliable to not be used. and plus being a fairly cost effective weapon, it probably would be used by rebel fighters and 3rd world armies.
Spas12 was invented in the 80s and appears in 60s/70s campaign but it is still one of my fav guns, G11 is another fav, Ive always preferred the different interesing guns over the boring same old guns that appear in every cod
They don't even ask about the FAMAS Felin...
Because insurgent groups use RPKs and RPDs in 2016
Ak 47....Nothing else to say.
Black Ops 2 was released mid-November! We're only 4 days past launch, give me a break :) The series will commence on the 23rd.
Ahoy hell yeah im waiting for it!
@@joshmiranda5958 you're 6 years too late
Oh yeah baby I'm about to get it. The hipe is real I hope its a good game its only been the 5th day 😁
@@Pm50077 me too I saw the trailer and it looks good
this comment is a time capsule
God I miss this game so much. This was the pinnacle of call of duty for me
I know right bro. These were the real days.
BO1 was the peak.
Agreed
Definitely was.
This isn't the topic of this video.
1:02 - 1:04 that was pretty cool
ikr?
he starts reloading on this map and end on another c:
I love the little jokes at the end of the videos, especially this one. "Killstreaks in heaven", probably because the weapon was never properly instated, it died, "went to heaven".
nope...this not it.watch again.
I got dogs for the first time with the G11 in a monstrous 38 and something gameplay.
Why do I always think that he is going to put on shades and "YEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!" is about to be shouted?
"Elect the G11 and you'll find yourself in killstreak Heaven."
You’re looking into it too deeply, just look at the video and how quickly Ahoy was getting his Killstreaks using the G11 lol
Best burst weapon in the BO series hands down. This gun way better than the M8. It has no recoil, more bullets, good iron sights and a higher rate of fire.
I agree I like m8 but the g11 beats it the burst weapon in bo history
+Akeem Answer the g11 is really similar to the xr-2 actually. i love both of them
trex1490 The XR-2 is similar to the Swatt-556 from BO2. The G11 bursts faster.
The only one even close to rivalling the G11 would be the type-95 from MW3. Nothing could ever beat this gun out except the type
Tbh I was never that enamored with the M8A1. People treat it like a god weapon but it's not that great imo.
Friday.

Hi
saturday
Bro its monday
its SPOOKTOBER
6 years after and even though I haven't played a COD game in many years, your weapon guides are still fantastic to watch and bring me back to the good days.
2020? who is also missing the early 2010s...
Heh yeah good
The G11 does not use a standard box magazine. It uses a "tube" magazine that more resembles the horizontal feeding system of the P90
Most people would refer to both the G11's magaine and the P90 magazine as "box" magazines. A "tube" magazine would be something like the round, well, tubes of pump action and lever action guns, where the charges are end-to-end rather than side-by-side in the magazine.
If you go off of aesthetics? The PP-19 Bizon has a tube magazine, any Calico firearm has a tube magazine. The G11 has a box magazine, same as the P90, although elongated
@Sparks Really sticking it to them.
My favorite experimental rifle of all time, next to the XM29 OICW which was also by H&K.
The Low Power Scope doesn't let you hold your breath while zooming, so there's no way to counter the idle sway.
On a nostalgia kick watching these in 2021. Thank you for the quality content over the years. Best of luck in this new year!
There hasn't been a gun as unique as the g11. It still could become a service rifle if governments paid attention to it.
over-engineered
The LSAT prototype LMG is pretty interesting, not quite as much, but it was inspired by the G11 and the M249, so it's pretty great.
It could also have been a PDW and a LMG
It could be used in service however more training with the weapon will have to be given especially because the heat from the case-less ammunition
A couple of years ago my company went to the HK German HQ and production site for a field tour. Held one of the G11 prototypes. Wonderful piece of engineering. We asked if they were ever plans to revive the G11 project. Unfortunately our tour guide informed us that the developers responsible for the G11 left the company and took all their patents and plans for the caseless ammo with them. So it's pretty unlikely to see a revival of the G11 from HK any time soon.
I always thought about the G11's reload.
what did you think about it
It was unique.
Yea i just dont know how the magazine work ?
Alexander Bringt The rounds are loaded in like they are in any other firearm. But the magazine slides in parallel to the barrel instead of perpendicular, so the bullets are perpendicular to the barrel. The twist is what chambers the first round, similarly to retracting the bolt on the other rifles to chamber their first round, or using the slide on a 1911.
@@alexanderbringt4380 I think that it works like the one in the P90.
this doesn't look like a ordinary assault rifle...
That's because it isn't
BMWM3GTRLOVER the top magazine is typical for a modern SMG like our P90. Its not typical for a assault rifle.
JENS DAEMS Worth mentioning that it's a bullpup rifle, according to some people. And yup, there isn't a rifle that can carry 45-50 rounds on top of them, either(caseless to that). It's the G11's unique traits that have me loving it(and since I first met it back in Syphon Filter 2 as the H11, I know the gun quite well). Shame that it's never seen again after some time...
JENS DAEMS hardly typical. Most SMGs still reload from the bottom.
***** Really? Hmm.... But then again, I do know that you can place 2 spare magazines on the gun itself, side by side with the the magazine already loaded into the gun(allowing for faster reloading, but seems a bit difficult to do so without dropping them). That, and you can even attach a bayonet, too. But other than that, only early prototype G11s can load up to 50 rounds, and the later models(G11K2), 45 rounds.
"elect the G11.. and you'll find yourself in killstreak heaven." What an epic finisher! Thanks for the weapon guides, XboxAhoy!
Remember when this channel was named Xbox Ahoy?
Crazy how we used to be okay with controller fps gameplay
@@radarphaser when were we not
Krauts... IN SPAAAAAAAACE!
1:01~1:03 epic transition
I think one of the reasons why the G11 in-game can't share the same attachments as the other assault rifles (other than realism) is balance. Think about it. Putting Extended Mags plus a Suppressor or one of the underbarrels is a deadly thing to encounter.
Yeah it already has 48 rounds
The G11 was good but man was it ugly af
@@psinformer1 wdym? it's a beauty. It's weird for other people but that what makes it more unique than the other guns
@@psinformer1 It's pinnacle Brutalist german design
@@psinformer1 what
look at that scene transition at 1:00 using the reload animation as an index. THAT is slick.
WOW I can't believe the great Algorithm has brought me back here once more. Used to watch these all night on my phone in middle school
I am always motivated again to play these games after watching your videos :D
This weapon was seen in the anime "The End of Evangelion", used by the Japanese Strategic Self-Defence Force.
HA that's awesome!
also used in Area 7 by Matthew Reilly by the 7th Airforce squadron I think they were called correction - they used the P90
Good book, great author. Yes, the 7th Squadron used P90s, but the Nazis in Temple had G11s.
Panther ah, that's what I was thinking of
Im not one for anime myself i dont understand why anybody watches it just seems kind of gay and pointless but if u like it great u like it 😐
The effort put into these videos are phenomenal
Ahoy’s video have so much love put into them with the editing, mic, and history that, if you compare it to present cod gun vids or any that ahoy’s video can still compare and usually surpass with how good the paste is and with the still great mic, not to mention all the details like the classified file in the beginning that is unique to every single guide. Honestly if you didn’t tell me about the date of the video I’ll think it came out today.
I miss this game soooo much :(
Why can't you just play it? Add me I am cooldude4172. PS3?
Okay now you can miss it
Who's here in 2020, the nostalgia is reall
Stu, I want to thank you for coming back and finishing this series. I've been watching since the MW2 guides, and it's nice that only did you finish the MW3 guides, but Black Ops as well. Your work has improved the skills of many players (myself included), and I look forward to seeing your next series. Thank You!
Thank you for making all these guides. Having listened to them all with great gusto, I must say it was a great pleasure to listen to each and everyone of them. I enjoyed listening to each and every one of them and want to congratulate you on this very fine work!
The G11 would probably my alternative sniper rifle with variable zoom........Just like the M14 with ACOG.....
This feels like a documentary film .
I can't say I've seen any of the other clips in the series. Hell, I don't even play Call of Duty anymore, but the quality of this video is much more than I had expected. Using those endgame killcams made for solid close! Brilliant!
6 years late, but I don't give a fuck.
I can't thank you enough for making this series, I really enjoyed watching it.
My favorite G11 class is a lot like all my classes but can be used better with getting many kills with out dying. I use G11 no attachments and flak jacket, sleight of hand for reloading and aim down sight, and any third perk but I use ninja/dead silence to not be heard up close and easily kills up close. over half the games I played with this class I got all killstreaks (Napalm strike, chopper gunner, and DOGS. I think that's good for not having Hardline Pro because Im used to always having Hardline Pro.
It would've been cool to see if Germany had put this into full production instead of the G36 and the US had switched to the M8 rifles instead of the M4/M16.
Black ops 2 or real life?
I can't agree with that. I believe the tried and true M16's and M4's are here to stay, and I'm glad they are. The G11 seems really weird.
It's no so much the exact model but more the gas piston and direct impingement systems that the platform uses which make it so popular with different armed forces of the world, even the Germans has adopted it in the HK416 because the G36 had so many issues of it overheating causing the frame to warp.
Under semi auto fire, though, the G36 is far more accurate, than the m16.
It wasn't meant for full auto fire. It was only after the MG3 was replaced with the MG36 that this problem arouse.
That's genuinely the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day
defo the best cod weapon guide/review series on all of youtube!
I miss the days when I was a teenager, playing this game for hours at a time. This game was an absolute masterpiece.
My Favorite gun by far in Black Ops!
same here
Klutch Kris i hated it
In my opinion the g11 is thee best assault rifle in game and one of the best overall guns ingame.
Thank you so much stu for this entire series i use almost all of ur advice and congratulations
I am SO looking forward to your new weapon guide for Black Ops 2. Keep up the good work!
You have a better "radio voice" than Morgan Freeman.

Swear, German Engineering never ceases to amaze me when it comes to their weaponry arsenal. From the Karabiner 98 Kurtz and Sturmgewher 44 Assault Rifles to the experimental G11 and eventually, in my personal opinion, the best looking assault rifle in existence. The Gewher-36, specifically the Export model with its sleek design and the civilian model of the SL8. I bet if Ahoy would do some kind of documentary of German weapons, he'd make a killing as an advertiser!
Congrats on finishing the weapon guides, Stuart! I've watched all of them and the production value is incredible. Best wished for Black Ops 2, no doubt your weapon guides on that game will be brilliant.
Congrats Stu on finishing the series! Very nice work!
Oh it's the end, the end my friends. At least until BlOps 2, of course.
😳
The Variable Zoom scope is far superior than the Low power scope on this weapon because you can just set the zoom to acog levels and are given the option to old your breath to better aim, not to mention that the scope itself is better than the symbol on the other one.
Great video im glad the weapons guides are back. Awesome job. Thanks
for a good while there i thought this was a legit, military channel special about the weapons used in the game till you were talking about the mini map being obscured. you sir, are amazing and give so much credibility to your vids
Leave it to the Germans to turn something simple into something complicated for no reason
They need to bring this baby back
Hoping they put it in cold war/warzone
Congrats on finishing the Black Ops weapon guide. Hope the next one doesn't give you too much trouble. Will be looking forward to the guide for the HK XM8.

G11 with a variable scope is the best gun in the game with sleight of hand. It's the only gun I use.
Thumbs up if you think that black ops is the best COD game.
it is my favorite, tied with 2 other games
cooldude 4172 the quickscoping is cancer in it
the g11 is the most powerful weapon in the game

Best CoD related series going! Thank you very much Stu!
I don't play much COD, but I'm excited for the next guides. Can't wait.
Stuart, you've done it again. You've done elite...
He uses the tune 'Blackbird' from Blops (artist is Sean Murray). He 3edits it somewhere in the middle to lengthen to his video's overall length and we never notice the seams. I'm impressed with it. :)
I love these videos. Very informative and useful for class planning. Thank you for doing these videos. Doing a BO2 weapon guide?
I can’t believed I’d comeback to these videos in 2019
Best FPS. Excellently written video series!
Congrats! You finally finished the series I started watching 2 years ago =)
great job...will be anxious for your black ops 2 series
these videos are very well done. i mean the editing and research. and you could not have a better voice :)
Was waiting for this one since the series started.
Great outro and a fitting end.
Excellent job on the whole series, Stuart. I bet it's a big weight off your shoulders to finally get this project done. And I'm sure you're happy to not have to play Black Ops any more. I know I enjoyed it a lot, but I have days' worth of play time on it and am pretty sick of it all, you must feel the same way. Looking forward to your Black Ops 2 guides. I'm also really looking forward to playing Black Ops 2!
And it only took 1.9 years :) I enjoyed every episode stu. Keep up the good work.
I haven't played Black Ops in awhile but I've been waiting for your review of the G11 for awhile as it is one of my favorite guns. We agree on the first two perks but I find that Marathon can be a very useful third perk as I often use this gun for longer range situations and switch fire positions often.
Well, Stu, it's been great. And I can't wait for BO2 to come out for you to continue making these videos. Hats off to you, sir.
one of my favorite videos of yours is your class set up for the M60. It is a beast juggernaut like class. Cant wait to see your first weapon guide on BO2. Want to see your class set up for the remington 870.

Great way to end the series. Love this channel to death, Stu! Cant wait to see what you can do for BO2!
This is my favorite weapon
Thanks for the awesome guide! Helped me a lot.
You're doin' a great job man! Love your stuff!!
The FAMAS, which started testing in 1967 but only entered service in 1978, three years after the conclusion of Vietnam. The MP5k, first introduced in 1976. The M249 SAW (in singleplayer, Vorkuta) which was first used in 1984. The CZ75, first introduced in 1976. There are probably more but you get the point (I hope).
