'You Are Russian Now': Ukrainian Family Recalls Deportation To Moscow

A family from Mariupol described going through a Russian filtration camp and then being taken to Moscow. The mother eventually got her children out via Belarus and Poland, while the husband chose to remain. Human Rights Watch calls the practice of forcibly moving Ukrainian citizens a war crime.

  • While "vacationing" in Warsaw at the bus depot I met and shared a cigarette with three "escapes" with brand new id's courtesy of the Russians. The younger one and I attempted to communicate, as neither of us understood each other but for a few words. Coming from the war torn eastern oblasts on a journey that might have been months long, he was still shaking from his experience, as it must have been a horrific ordeal. All three spoke Ukraine and Russian, were of service age and two had apparently been conscripted for service in the Russian forces but had been crafty enough to use it to their advantage and had somehow escaped. All three were animated with anger for the Russians as they had lost everything save a pocket of zot change and nothing else that I could see. Sadly I had little to offer but encouragement as they made it clear that they intended to return to their destroyed homes as soon as they had something to take with them. I sure hope they made it back home and find some sort of peace there. Huge thank you to the Poles that are welcoming complete strangers into their country, no questions asked. God Bless!

• Not only will russia not win this war, they have been exposed as a joke of a military, and the whole world sees who they are and how they operate. I'm certain that they would agree that they were much better off pretending to be a country concerned with international peace, respect and human rights. The cat's out of the bag now, and there's no going back. What's worse is that they've integrated themselves into the world economy, so now they're dependent on the world for survival, but have shown themselves to be a rogue nation / kleptocracy, so no honorable countries will work with them. russia is done, and will be a world pariah for the next 30 years. I'm certain that there are a lot of good people in russia who are informed and trapped there, and unable to speak out / take action against their authoritarian government, and I feel sorry for those people. I'd say you don't deserve this, but you've seen this coming for over a decade. In the eyes of many, what you permit, you condone.

    • @@natureblank1401 I have a very good idea who fits the description of war criminals in this conflict. It includes the rapist, thieves, torturers, kidnappers, murderers of civilians and prisoners alike, attacking civilian infrastructure, using illegal weapons and now firing on a nuclear plant and perpetration of countless war crimes. Starvation, weaponising food and energy accoss the world. Stealing a people's art works and trying to rewrite their history. Running concentration "work" camps. Ethnic cleansing. Fake referendums to hide annexation. Raising entire cities. Running state media with no independent voice. Blocking and shutting down alternative media. Rounding up anyone who is even thought to wish to even say "stop the war" or even call the ileagal invasion a "war". Poisoning and murdering anyone with opposing views whether they are in RuSSia or not. All of these deeds are carried out without condemnation from "Dear Leader". I expect I will have missed other fascist activities but I think that the list so far is irrefutable. RuSSia under Putler has become a fascist state. Any who defends these activities must also be a fascist.
