- I don't know snakes, but maybe she was upset because he was pulling the snake towards him and smiling with his teeth showing. If a big bear or a crocodile open smiled at me while pulling me towards him I don't think I would be comfortable with that.

You would think that Steve Irwin would have died messing with an alligator or crocodile, maybe even a snake, but no. It was a completely unexpected incident with a stingray. Accidents happen, but 90% of bites people receive from venomous snakes are dry bites, according to scientists who have studied and charted it. So there's only a 10% chance that that snake could kill him. He knows his snake and his personality as well as his body language, so as long as he pays attention to that and is calm and gentle, not acting like a predator or something that could be seen as a danger to that snake, it's a fairly low chance he will get bitten.
