I cannot believe that Rosskopf has picked Ovtcharov for the Olympics. Franziska is in his peak form now, beating top Chinese left and right. While Ovtcharov's best years are far behind and he has no chance of beating any Chinese player. Patrick should have gotten that spot.

Absolut unverständlich warum Franz nicht an Drei für Olympia steht vor Dima. Alleine Leistungstechnisch ist er weit vor ihm. Top Leistung von Franz - immer weiter so 👌
Ich sehe sogar im Moment eher Dang draußen. Hat in letzter Zeit echt kaum Leistung gebracht.
ich hätte Qiu und Franz safe mitgenommen und geguckt ob Ovtcharov oder Boll als 3. Mann. Dang hat gerade Calderano 3:1 geschlagen. Franz spielt sein einer Weile jetzt schon richtig gut, schlägt auch hier wieder FZD, was einem Boll bspw. noch nie gelungen ist. (kein hate gegen Boll, aber trotzdem)
@@RambO5018 Ja hab ich auch gerade gesehen. Dang hat halt die letzten Turniere und BL nicht so performed. Kann man aber natürlich für argumentieren. Dima muss man aber eigentlich auch mitnehmen, weil er ist halt Mr. Olympia und wenn man nach der Form geht halt Franz. Man will aber Boll halt sein letztes Olympia geben was ich auch verstehen kann.
Ich gebe dir voll recht, ich schätze es hat damit zu tun das Dima momentan der Spieler mit den meisten Olympiamedaillen ist under wenn er nicht bei Paris antritt würde er (bzw. Deutschland)diesen Titel an Ma Long (China) verlieren. Ein Jammer für Franz.
Nennen wir das Kind beim Namen. Mit dieser Entscheidung haben einige richtig Mist gebaut. Franziska gehört 100% nach Olympia. Da sollte es überhaupt keine Diskussion geben. Seine Leistungen sprachen für sich.

Great comeback from Franz. He got a bit lucky at moments and FZD lost some crucial points, but now team China is on the Lins and WCQ shoulders.

Franziska flicking every ball. Surprised fzd couldnt stop him from doing that. Either serve wide to the back or reverse pendulum serve from the middle of the table wide to forehand. The high toss was working until he kept playing it short to the forehand and franziska got used to it. Have to say thou, the backhand flicks from franziska is unreal.
One of the best match of the tournament for sure. Francisca deserved this.
What a comeback by Franz! Totally didn't expect that after seeing how the first 2 games went. It looked like complete domination from Fan.

Both of them made technical and tactical mistakes, but compared to us, these are in such a distant field of knowledge that we can look at in amazement and with a happy heart.
Congratulations well deserved Fraziska and his coach, very good personality. We meet them in Doha Qatar 🇶🇦 very approachable to their fans. They never refused to take pictures when their fans ask them. But Chinese coach and players if you ask them to take photo with them they will ignore you like they didn’t see you at all😅🤣

The risk of China losing is definitely non zero. Fan has been quite unstable recently and relying on just one person - however strong that one person is - is not great for them. Oh well.

I wouldn't pass too much heed on these tournaments in the run up to Olympics, Chinese team are likely laser focused on Paris and using these tournaments as experimentation / practice before the real thing in Paris. But Fan will need to improve for Olympics he is on a dip in form past while. If he doesn't improve WCQ is almost a shoe in for the gold.
Franziska is not nominated. It's Ovtcharov instead.

Patrick is great but he's not world class by any means. Fan used to be world class when he's slimmer. But right now, the heavier Fan is downgrading to Liang JK version.

His weakness is central and not sides. Fan uses the wrong method here either due to low IQ or just on purpose.

@@alex_tahiti ye that's my understanding too, but my guess is they are given free reign to experiment and practice in tournaments in run up to Olympics. The ranking would have been based on the last one to two years, not so relevant this close to Paris. Trust me Chinese team couldn't give a hoot about Saudi smash. It's utterly irrelevant to them. Their funding from Chinese government over the next four years (and their broader prestige) is 100% based on bringing gold medals back to China in Olympics. They are laser focused on the Olympics right now.
Simply put, the Chinese are playing literally in every single competition regardless of the importance. Too many games, will eventually tell on any player...
I guess Zhendong probably lost this match from of a wrist injury and underestimating Patrick. What puzzled me was why Zhendong's coach didn't call a timeout, especially during the final round... It's ok Zhendong. You're still one of the best in the world!!!
Fan lost this because he uses the incorrect strategy. He should be attacking centrally, not sideways. But as usual, the Chinese team always do this before the Olympics.
Timeout was already used before that deciding point.

This is why i feel like ma long is more consistent than fan. Even tho he loses but when he recovers and adapts like he did in the world cup to beat even wang chuqin is something nobody is capable of. This is why he should still have been selected for paris. When he is actiqlly in top form and recovered and full of energy, his brain is the smartest in strategy
Ma Long isn't more consistent than Fan. The prime ML was more SKILFUL and fitter than Fan.
Ma Long was destroyed 3-0 in round of 32. Ma Long also was beaten more decisively by Patrick Franzesca. Fan. Zhendong always fights till the end. Ma Long simply becomes depressed when he is losing.

Why do we need to watch the player's armpit for seconds? The rally is already in progress when the player tosses the ball. Before tossing the ball, the camera should already show the full picture. We want to enjoy the game of ping pong, not the cameraman's skills. So, it's enough to show the ball in the player's hand for 1 second. Then switch to the full picture and keep it that way until the end of the rally. In replays, the cameraman can play with slow motion and different angles.
