@@Nikita-jo4cl Well said.. I can hold and carry a conversation about almost anything with almost anyone and yet I find myself probably one of the loneliest sods on the planet.. I hope you and others find this amusing, because it is a classic example of my sense of humour.. I am a total 50/50 clash and melting pot of both my parents.. Dad, was a meat eating loner, long distance truck driver and mum was a way OTT talk the hind legs of a Donkey sociable cleaner/cashier vegan.. How on earth am I suppose to cope? Oops did I just think that out loud.? Warning, brief trip down misery/memory lane: My earliest recollection there was going to be problems in my future life was when my nan gave me a chicken leg to eat she had cooked for me when I was very young. I looked at it and looked up at her and immediately burst into tears.. What's up she asked? I don't know I said it's a dead animal I am eating.. Uncle said just put salt on it.. Bumped into Billy, when he was sat outside (on his own) at a corner cafe, drinking coffee at midnight, in Xlendi Bay Gozo in 2003. He told us he had just made a film with Tom Cruise, (Last Samurai) which is why he had got rid of the purple moustache and beard he had been sporting around that time. He graciously signed his autograph on a cafe receipt and posed for a photo. He must have spent 3-4 minutes chatting to us. Lovely bloke.

Wonderful, wonderful Parky. I'm from the U.S. but have watched Mr. Parkinson for years. He was the best ever. Thank you KZhead for showing them. Please continue to do so. This particular show with Billy Connolly and Sir David Attenborough is a GEM of all time. Thank you Parky. A life well lived.
What is not to love about Michael Parkinson? And there is nothing not to love about the fabulous Billy Connolly.
His appearances on Parkinson catapulted Billy Connolly into the big time. He was a relatively little known Scottish folk singer before his first Parkinson appearance. Parkinson would have him on every year because it guaranteed about 1 million extra viewers.
After 40 years watching Billy Connoly..and listening to him ..i am now a fan....
21.55 is just a great speech and an example of what most parents should be telling their kids!
Billy was Parkinson's 'go to guest' he never failed to entertain and had a seemingly inexhaustible stock of absolutely hilarious stories...
It’s the way he tells em !!
I remember on the VHS 'erect for 30 years' Parkinson said in their original run there two people who would add two million to the viewing figures and they were Muhammad Ali and Billy Connolly.
I don’t believe he could have chosen two better guests if he tried. Sir David is a national treasure and Billy is a comedy genius. I would move heaven and earth to spend some time with Sir David, he’s my ultimate hero!
An absolutely brilliant interview between two gentlemen. both my favourite people Sir David Attenborough and Billy Connolly We know Billy Connolly is a wonderful comedienne and Sir David Attenborough more serious but I was also delighted with his humour I enjoyed every minute. Thank you.
Comedian. Connolly is a man, not a woman.
Approximate ages at this interview Billy 56, now 76. Parky 63, now 84. Sir David 72, now 92 wow.. What a great interview.. See how easy it is to have and show respect for each other. A rarity for me but I honestly think I could sit and listen to these fellas all night long..
All three seem somewhat ageless and all able to hold conversation with the other and fascinating the other and having a great laugh along the way, love it
@@Nikita-jo4cl Well said.. Trouble is he was right. What a bloody fecked up life I have been living (mostly solo) since..
Yes, imagine having those three at a dinner party
Paw X Paw There’s nothing wrong with that
So... Billy and david aged 20 years, but Parkinson aged 21? How did that sort out?
This should have been titled three legends one stage!
The collaboration you never knew you needed.
We are about to lose in the next ten years probably the greatest two people in the world and the most respected ever / better to have seen and laughed than never
I wish i could give a "like" to this a few dozen times more, thanks
Extraordinarily intelligent, well travelled men conversing, being charming and funny and, most importantly, not shrieking hysterically about politics or whatever.
Billy and David. Two of my favourite people, both Amazing, warm, funny men. Hate to think about it but will be such a huge loss when they're gone 💜
MRS. BROWN was a beautiful movie. I really Love Billy Connolly. Mr. Parkinson was a Master interviewer.
Old is truly gold.. 3 TV LEGENDS.. what a great show
Awwww I could watch this 4 days! 👌👍💚🏴
Wonderful 3 men. They come from different skills and background but get on SO well with mutual respect and laughter. What lives they have had.
What a wonderful man Sir David Attenborough is.
I absolutely love how David includes Billy in his section of the program, yet Billy sits back and respectfully awaits David's invitations.
So..much..respect between EVERYONE in this interview it's amazing... ZERO ego..
Indeed, Mike! This is how gentlemen of class conduct themselves!
That's a pro...good man, Big Yin...
Back when people had manners, not egos
Yeah me too. Total respect on both sides. All legends!
Could this be possible today,?, 2 Giants in one room, each speaking the truth of their Life experiences, So wonderful, Thanks, 😀
This Masterful interview with my idol Sir David Attenborough was Everything !!!
He is indeed my hero. Authentic and naturally wonderfully wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing.
I'm almost halfway through this but need to take a break. I've been laughing so hard, an amazing interview with Billy Connolly and I love David Attenborough so need to catch my breath before he comes on. Parkinson is brilliant. Best interviewer ever. No-one will ever come close to him or his two guests here
When Parky is enjoying his guests it's wonderful - it warms my heart and lightens my life
I will be watching interviews like this for the rest of my life.
I was having a really crappy day...this cheered me up.😊
An awesome man. Love him to bits.
I could listen to them all day
Thankyou All three👌
What a pair!
Ironic, talking about Parkinsons with Parky. Now he has it. I love Billy, so it hurts to see this, but I know he is very Happy. He made us so very Happy for many years....❤
I’ve been to the Standing stones in Orkney and agree that in Orkney there’s very little to do !
Nation shall speak peace unto Nation ! How true !
Sir billy connolly. UK greatest standup and there shall never be another. LEGEND
“Sir”🤢🤮
Who absolutely true Yo Yo. Thankfully his legacy will never fade....
@@user-uu1et3fk4c you can puke all you want, but he actually has that title...
Surprisingly, this video with this trio turns out to be much much better and funnier than anticipated.
Ironic interview considering Billy's condition :( However, his personality and humanity is still the same. I was introduced to his comedy from my mum, I have loved his stand up (old and recent) through my whole life, I've also loved his films, his books and his ever amazing presence in my life. I now love watching and listening to billy with my son who rolls up with laughter and has also switched a lot of his friends on to Billy. Billy is unique, his genius , presence, incredible love for people and life will transcend time just as long as we pass it on xx
Simply thank you for sharing.
Three brilliant men,,,,privileged to have such are we.
are you Yoda ?
I love the way Sir Billy 'Fuck Off' Connolly reserves himself when someone else is talking... A Gent until he's introduced or even hinted at.
Just plain bloody brilliant. 49 mins of the best TV almost ever.
Billy & David appeared on Clive James a few years earlier,,, they very clearly have a connection,,, just wonderful.
i've watched david attenborough whenever i could find him. i miss his shows on pbs very much. plus i can't afford cable tv anymore only antenna. so i'me using youtube to catch up on everything. without youtube i would never have found billy. what a wonderfulll discovery! he makes me feel like living.
The best is rarely free and it is a pity - Sir Attenborough has no equal to this date so here again THANKS TO YOU TUBE. Dear Bee Jay a small part is better than none is not it? I am in the same predicament....cheers
What a brilliant interview, Parky let's the guest do the talking and there is nobody finer to listen too. Two legends.
I'd have to say Three legends.....
@@rasextractionlimited1813 said same :)
Three wonderful humans with great minds, what more could any-one need
I love Billy! He’s just the best!!
What great two men to see together great interview.
Billy Connolly a stand up story telling LEGEND
Three men. Absolutely professional. Very able. Very bright. Very quick witted. Attenborough and Connoly both aware how difficult filming moments can be. Incongruous moments. All able to have a laugh, respecting the other individuals. Not competing. I do wish Gerald Durrell and Attenborough had program time together. This recorded moment is a brilliant one. Thanks for sharing it with us.
David Attenborough what a life ,96 yes old
I love david and billy too. so happy to know that billy who is my age has been watching david all his live and enjoying all his shows.
Absolute legends!
Does it get better than this, two extraordinary individuals but funny in their own way & also very rounded people under the spell of the legend Parkinson. When entertainment was just that!!
I just love billy I started in Glasgow all my life you st to watch him wen I was young cxx
such great television, Attenborough's passion is absolutely magnetic, it was wonderful to see him not interrupted by interviewer or guest providing comic relief...or the audience clapping something he said like it might today on a talk show,... they don't seem to be a platform for this kind of content anymore
Sharing your point of view and from where I am, your point of vue.....
This is one of the best content in a talk show I've ever seen. Laughing and learning is a great combination here.
Three absolute legends.
brilliant, cheers for sharing. can still remember the howls of laughter, true ha ha belly laughs from my mother who seldom swore, very religious and in the grip of a very aggressive type of dementia, Whack on a Billy Connolly dvd and she would be deleriously happy for days.
Gosh I love David Attenborough. I went to Leicester University where his father was the first Vice Chancellor because I wanted to be an ecologist being heavily influenced by Rachel Carson’s book ‘ Silent Spring ‘. Billy Connolly is SO funny too - a real ‘ working class hero ‘ and yet also a very serious actor with Judi Dench in the film ‘ Mrs Brown ‘.
There are 3 men i dread hearing about on the news that have passed away, one weve already lost 1 Freddie Murcury, the Sir David Attenborough and then the sun will shine just a bit less brightly it will when Billy meets his maker i fear the sun may not shine at all, this truly upsets me to even to think about 😪😪😪😪😪
Fiona kunnt What about wee Janette Tough? Your emotive selectiveness is perfectly vile.
@@cquilty1Go away troll. 😡🇬🇧
@@Ionabrodie69 Sure I'm a troll, princess. This from you - a clown who replies unsolicited to a year-old comment of mine. Sad really... Hee! Hee!
and look at the following 20 years of david attenborough's 'still standing and being pushed in front of things'. great interview
I love that watching a clip with two TV personalities whom I've loved watching for decades didn't disappoint me in either of them. Thank the gods. Love both these guys, for both very different, but oddly similar, reasons.
RIP Parky a true legend of British TV
This interview is, and will always be, my favourite. The best interviewer of his time, with the ability to bring the best out in everyone, get to the roots of the person. The best comedian to come from his time, this being the only time I have ever seen him shut up and let others have their say. The best naturalist to ever, past, present and future, to bless us with his interpretation of life. Their time is almost over, but they will always be trasured and thought of as champions of their fields.
Great comment and I fully concur..
SneakyShark I concur with your concurring
Absolutely concur.
Yes nicely put, all three are brilliant
One concurs with all five of you , one Doe's.
Ah golden tv ..interesting hosts with interesting captivating guests..wonderful
people really love Billy....this is a fine reason why
I had the pleasure of Billy Connolly's company in a garage after his Usher Hall gig in Edinburgh and he's a good guy just what you would expect. The girl on the till invited him in for a coffee and he never missed a beat. Two minutes in the door he was one of the lads. There's a certain irony when they say art depicts life ... it's spot on. Good luck Billy...
I love Billy so much. Heart broke a little bit when he spoke about Flo. Love you Bill keep on keeping on
❤😂 Billy and Sir David Attenborough What an enjoyable 👏 😀 evening
This is a perfect indicator and example of how dumbed-down the world we live in is. Only 422, 515 views for these brilliant interviews, yet some dross gets 50,000,000 plus views.
well done
There's another from about ten years earlier, with these two being interviewed by Clive James and getting on like a house on fire. Always good to see people whose mutual admiration comes from both being good at their work and enjoying it.
The Atlantic Whistling Shark?
He lifts my mood when I need cheering up, so so funny.😂
Such a funny guy love Billy Connolly a real comedic gem
Attenborough's shows are shown all over the world.
Little did he know he’d get Parkinson’s 20 years later. Love you Billy
I think he got his diagnosis in the early 00s and kept it hidden and kept working away.
Ah Billy a genius
"One loves one". "One reciprocates with ardour" "One would like to give one one" 😂
One that one would do well to adopt!
Billy connelly is just so funny. Im crying
Goodness ! I miss Parkinson...and Connolly . Remember flying back to my Hall of Residence...just in time for Parky. It was a ritual.... Parkinson, More....Kojak, The Generation Game ! Good Lord ....when did I get old
Can’t quite work out if you are slightly older or younger than me. As I was a biologist I watched ‘ Bellamy on Botany ‘ on my tutor’s recommendation then there was The Foresight Saga and The Pallisers and yes, I loved The Generation Game, but some pesky lads visiting Gfs in my Hall of Residence always wanted to watch the bloody football !
That good old time, very long ago, when chat show guests actually had something worthwhile to say.
hope u r well EL when you get a comedian, who does not know, what he is going to say 5 mins before his stand up shows begin, i call it genius..Parkinson was asked which guests , would increase audience figures, he answered Billy Connolly & Mohammed Ali and would add 2 million extra viewers ...when you think about it, they are very similar , their input was not Rehearsed, and when they let loose, parkinson just crossed his fingers ,,stay safe El Loco
Just watch Parky's interview with Orson Welles, totally mesmerising
And an interviewer who knows how to ask a question and allow his guests to answer
Love David and billy 💋
I miss Parky, what a great show that was.
