A quick how to video on fishing with live worms including tips on hooking. Worms are one of the best freshwater baits for lakes, rivers, creeks, and ponds, and catch bass, bluegill, trout, catfish, carp, and many other species! Definitely, my favorite bait when I just want to catch fish!
I hope these tips and tricks help you catch more fish! Part of the beginner fishing basics series. Best of luck fishing!!
Amazon.com Links to my favorite beginner lures:
1. Inline Spinner: amzn.to/2IL8iLk
- Use with 4-8lb test on light action rod and reel
-Catches bass, crappie, bluegill, trout, and tons of other species
2. Square bill Crankbait: amzn.to/3f2h0jU
- Use with 8-14lb test line. Great for bass!
Thanks for watching!
He's a really good baiter. I guess that would make him a master baiter.

That was easy. You didn't even use what little brain matter you have.
@@markforster6457 ur just mad that he said I first
@@gavinross8104 You can say it first, or last, it is still a totally classless comment!
@@markforster6457 lmao
I know these are old videos but I really love the way you break it down for beginners, it can be intimidating and a lot of channels just blaze over the basics. Good job
Intimidating?
@@Gil-dz9bb yeah, for people that have never done it, trying to figure out what lures, baits, lines etc to use in specific situations can be frustrating to figure if you don’t have someone teaching you. Not sure what your comment is supposed to mean
My thoughts exactly!! Thank you for helping us that know nothing on how to do this by explaining the basics.
THANKS ZACH!!! I’ve watched many of your videos that pertain to my kind of Fishin’! Even an old dog Bank Fisher like me can still learn NEW TRICKS 😁THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR TIPS!!!!!
Good job brother. Didn't stutter even once, goes to show he knows what he's talking about. 👏👏
dude, your videos are informational, straight to the point. just found your channel because just started fishing going to watch all episodes now.
Thankyou for starting off with the simple and basic. It's exactly what I needed to hear for where I can go fishing.
thank you so much Zach, very insightful
Simple yet effective explanation, great video 👍👍
Perfect! I love your no BS style of imparting knowledge. Very thorough. Thanks!
Thanks for this video, right to the point and clear.
As a new angler you have really helped me so much , simple and straight to the point, appreciate you my man 🙌🏾

Excellent video Zach, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I haven't had much luck using worms and, after watching this video, I think I understand why now. I used to just put the worms on the hook piercing the worm maybe three times. I had too much of the hook exposed. I definitely need to get out there and get a line wet and give worms another try. Thanks again. Stan
Best of luck this summer! Hook a huge one!
@AnglersEscape what size sinker do you use bro for bass
Thanks for the videos! Very helpful!
Fantastic video! Packed with great information and clear, compelling explanations and demonstrations.
Great instructions
Great video man. Simple but it’s been 20 yrs since I’ve fished as a kid, now trying to teach my kids and as simple as it seems I get a little lost teaching them basic stuff like this. Appreciate the videos
Spot on. I’m goin through the same thing with my son.
Thanks for the tips. Will do.
Thanks for your efforts young man. Much appreciated.
Probably the best tutorial I've seen so far. Thanks
Great idea on the sliding sinker!
Awesome man. You explain it all so well.
Just what I needed! Getting back into fishing now after a few years and needed a little guidance!
Thanks for the tip bro 🙏🏽
Definitely learned something new
Dude you are so informative and clear. Thank you
thanks for the great info!
That was a blast from the past. Your right. I've neglected worms for too long.

The old school way to put that bobber on the line, was a bit different. Take the line coming from your pole, and hook it under the bobber bottom (white part), run the line over the bobber, and hook it to the bobber top (red part), then run it back down, and hook it again, to the bottom (white part). Now, the line goes from the fishing pole to the bobber bottom, and from the bobber bottom to the hook. The bobber won't slide on the line by itself, and it will sit upright in the water (not lying on it's side).
Good solid video!
Great video
Love the video we fish the same for those catfish 🎣
Cool video mate!!
Great video, I just caught my first redear sunfish a couple days ago with worms!
Nice!
Great video!
thank you!
Good video, finally a video by a intelligent guy, not some yoyo pretending to be an actor.
love your videos...
Great intel! Subbed!
Could you make a in depth video on how to catch walleye? Like gear, tackle, etc.
A lot of information in a short video... please keep them coming 💪🏾

Bro your channel is perfect for people who are starting out. Thanks! Will a 6lb test be ok if I want to catch bluegill but also bass?
If they’re under 6 pounds. I prefer lighter line in freshwater. 6-10 lbs. Even if I hook into a larger channel or carp, the only time I get a break is if they get tied up and rub on something. My best advice for just starting is just figure out what works for you. Throw in a couple different setups and see what you like and what you catch with what. Worms are fun because almost anything will eat a worm.
Glad you're showing these tips. Now with the pandemic there are alot of newbies out there. Yesterday i went to my local city pond and 3 people cross my lines. They thought i was mad i just helped them untangle. I can tell who is new to the sport because some get upset and frustrated or wonder why nothing is biting at all.
Excuse me mr. pro pond fisher, I would like to inform you that people stopped saying newbies ten years ago lmao
@@max9940 fuck u mean 10 years ago lmao for like 3. no one was saying newbie in 2013 lmaoo
Taking the 3 grandkids fishing Saturday for their first time. I’m going to follow your suggestion and get some worms and bobbers.
Really like your channel. I finally learned what circle hook I need to use with worms for catfishing. This has been a problem for me lately. I wish I had seen your videos sooner. I was using a 2 Oz weight. But not getting out far enough fir the catfish. So lm going to try a 4 Oz or larger, a slip sinker I think and maybe use two hooks. I don't think I can get shad right now but might be able to get Frozen shrimp.
I have 3 sons who I want to teach how to fish thank you for the great video
Fishings like pokemon to me gotta catch em all!!!
Master baiter
Please make a video on how to tell if a fish bites and also i have been watching these videos so i can start fishing but so far your videos are the best mate
Glad you found the videos helpful!
thnks bro
Very helpful tip, I've never learned the proper way to hook a worm and get it stolen most of the time.

Only disagreement is worms at Walmart, a lot of times the worms are dead. I go to small stores or bait shops. Bait is always alive. Just my experience but absolutely enjoyed the video 👍
Could you do a video on the best set up/bait to use in a lake that has a lot of grass on the bottom. I seem to get snagged a lot and lose my bait. Any suggestions? Thanks! I enjoy your channel.
I resort to weedless hooks in high snag areas. A little harder to set them, but it beats losing them all day. They just have a little metal clip on them, but do a pretty good job for me.
Make sure that your sinker on the second set up slides, we have lost so many fish because they can feel the weight of the sinker, we use 3oz ones cause of the river current that we fish in
do you need a leader or straight mono will work on the pan fish bobber setup?
For the floater does it matter if red side is up or down ?
Coffee grounds new one for me, fresh or used as in instead of throwing out give them to ya worms?
i bought nightcrawlers from Walmart that lasted for about 9 or 10 months added newspaper and coffee grounds the laid eggs had a bunch more worms
Hi does second rig you show work for tench?
Watta good looking yung chap
The Missouri fish on the Kansas City side listens to Techn9ne
Will trick worms work too?
what hook type and size do you recommend for catching shovelnose sturgeon?
Nothing like getting your kids some flashlights and coffee cans looking for worms at night
kzhead.info/sun/bK9qcsunq3eiqok/bejne.html
Fishing off the bottom: use a Carolina rig with a 1/O hook (next size up from size 1) and thread the whole worm on there, hook it a bunch of times. You can even use two worms if you want Fishing off the top: Use a size one hook then after getting the hook on, put a tiny split shot a foot above the hook, then a bobber 2-5 feet above that. Only thread on about half a worm since smaller fish will nibble off your bait when fishing top-water
Great Videos Zach! Brilliant stuff! Make a Facebook Account!
Nice video just started and trying to catch sunfish any lure ideas
Try a panther Martin or blue fox inline spinner on 4 to 8lb test line. Best of luck fishing!
Thanks 🙏
If you’re only using a pinch of worm, I’d use a wax worm instead. I caught a decent channel cat this morning w a wax worm on a bobber. Totally unexpected on an ultralight rig but really fun.
He deserves an oscar
😂
can you do a video on how to catch big fatty worms by ourselves?
You kinda look like the guy who plays Spider-Man great vid though I subbed 👍🏼
Very frustrating trying to catch bass and having little perch steal your worm. I’ll try the less bait and thread the hook thing next time
Interesting video! Pink Pond Princess KZhead Channel Stopped By To Say Hello 👋🏽💖🎣
Shouldn't you use a bead between sinker and swivel to save the knot
If I had to be stuck with one bait live or not it would be worms. They're just the best
Tom Holland's cousin or what? Thanks for vid bro been messing this up as a beginner lol
💯Yu should try Gumbo worms, Work way better than nightcrawlers and Red wigglers
If you have any bait left over , any good fisherman will throw it to the fish . I never heard or did what you suggest , putting them in a refrigerator when you go home . How cheap can you get ?
He talks too slow so I play it on 1.25 speed 😅 Foreal tho, Great videos my guy
I prefer the Patrick F. McManus way of getting worms. Invite your fishing buddy to go fishing with you in Your Boat and have him join you at Your House. When he gets there inform him that something came up and while You are loading the boat, fixing sandwiches, drying your fishing togs, whatever, He can be digging up the worms at the place you have in mind of planting your spring garden ( just don't tell Him this though ). After you have finished your fixing and eating your big breakfast and putting up your dishes (no sense in letting the cat out of the bag) you can saunder out and tell him about the box of worms you found in the garage fridge and that it's time to go fishing. It is recommended to have Several fishing buddies because unless your buddy is really thick or can easily overpower you this ploy will not work. BTDT a painful lesson, believe me.

Hey, on every comment, there is a reply from a similar looking channel with a phone number associated with the channel name. Does this look familiar to you?
Caught and lost some big catfish on them great bait
We’ll done sir! Worms are $$$$$$
I watch all your videos i fallow all your instructions but still can catch one fish in the river
