I agree with Ninja: the warning lights are probably burn out from overuse.
More like fuses pulled
At least do a scan on it and find out the other things that are wrong with it.
Warnings shows up in iDrive not just the cluster.
No, you saw them light up when Hoovie started the car up in the begining of the video
@@stlswagger No, it doesnt work like that. These cars are quite advanced, and you just cant pull fuses to turn of warning lights

I'm pulling for you!
But would you want it?

Favorite neglected turds are either of your E32s or that E21.
When your BMW mechanic says "Why?" that's not a good sign.
If the ninja only works on Asian import cars! He was like only oil change and basic maintenance I can’t pay rent I’ll sick with Germans cars
The 4.4 is a very easy engine to work on. It’s not hard to pull these motors and reseal them. I buy these all the time. I plan on pulling the engine and replacing the valve stem seal, timing chain guides (maybe the chain), coolant pipe, timing cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and alternator bracket seal for every one I pick up. It’s a weekend job at an easy pace.

Hoovie - "It's going to cost more than I paid?" Johnny - "Oh yeah"
Oh Yeah with a big Ninja smile
And he cannot even go to Weezard for a second opinion. 😁
Johnny: 10:51
That goes without saying. The real question is will it cost more to repair than the cost of a similar one in good condition.
Yeah… not the wisest thing to say to a mechanic/businessman, IF you care about your money. Hoovie’s making enough dough not to worry about piddly $5k.
The BMW logo must fade after 7 years, so the owners know their car has fully depreciated and needs replacement. It's the same technology as they use in toothbrushes
😂😂😂
There must not be a fix to the issue because Ford and KIA have the same issue with the paint on their badges fading away.

I'm currently between cars. I totaled my Ghibli a couple months ago. A pillar of the community with a promising future stole a car and ran a red light going 80. It tore the front nose of my car completely off and broke both front axles. A witness to the accident told her husband to not stop and help because no one could have possibly survived that crash. Needless to say, I did with relatively few injuries. After the crash, I was able to simply open the door and get out. Yay to Maserati for designing a safe car! Unfortunately the pillar of the community with a promising future who ran a red light in his stolen car needed the jaws of life to extricate him. Immediately after the crash when I was able to think straight I checked on him. He wasn't wearing a seat belt and it was bad. I'll never unsee that.

5:33 Ahhh...that chime brings back memories. I inherited one of these and a 5 series (his daily driver) from my dad when he died. It was a beautiful car in great condition. However, his stories about the exorbitant repair bills and the many times I saw the 535i on a flatbed, plus our monthly (bonding?) trips to the mechanic spooked me. Had I kept it the car, it would have ended up like this one (in need of repairs I couldn't or wouldn't afford, so I sold it to his best friend. There is no such thing as a cheap BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar etc.
I watch this channel to hear Hoovie say: “Urination-Bob”

@@mattrobinson5099 or is it Euro nation? Idk
I'm of the opinion that the emblems are designed to fade intentionally, since the cars fall apart quickly BMW doesn't want people recognizing the brand when hoopdied.
In the 80s BMW bought millions of those emblems nd they still have stock that they use.
🤣
Clever lol I would never have thought of that
they have a nice patina when they hit the 20 year mark
I really love the stile of the series 6 BMW. It has this more simplified vibe.
I remember a time when BMWs with a straight six and a manual transmission used to be high quality and would last forever. What the hell happened to the company? Overly engineered garbage with a bunch of unnecessary tech that craps out as soon as the warranty is over.
Someone upstairs said, " our repair revenues are nothing compared to Chrysler, how can we improve that?"
Unnecessary tech sells. I'm old school.
BMW was already making crappy V8s at that time. M60/M62 with the timing chain guide failures etc. While they were making awesome M5x series straight sixes which were super reliable
same story for AMG and AUDI. Only Porsche has maintained it's reputation on sports cars and then their SUVs are rubbish too
The majority of that repair price is valve seals and gaskets. I'd hardly describe them as "unnecessary tech" - every car has them.
Hoovie: Ninjaaa Ninja: WHY. I enjoyed that for some reason

I mean it’s a damn good question, of all the cars in the world, beater BMW’s….

Hoovie: “I’ll fix the car if I get 1.3 million subscribers by next week.” Me: *unsubscribes* “I’m doing this for your own good, Hoovie!”
Yeah, I'm going to do that too! IT'S THE BMW EFFECT! :0)

This may sound bad, but, I used engine oil stop leak for one complete oil service of about 5k miles. My hope was to expand the valve seals enough for it to stop smoking. I haven't ran the stop leak since and the smoking stopped. A friend of mine tried it and it also stopped the smoking. It doesn't cost much to try it.

Ah yes, the “Bangle Butt.” If his career had taken a different path, we might be talking about “Mercedes Bunz.” ;-) Seriously, I think this is a nice old car that just needs some TLC. But then I can be really generous with Hoovie’s money.
Alfa Arse or Fiat fanny were also possibilities.
He might’ve been able to save Pontiac. And we’d have a decade of less ugly BMWs.
The funny thing is that it's not even designed by Chris Bangle. It's actully Adrian van Hooydonk, that's responsible for this and the 7 series.

The Psaki BMW
It must've been built by Klingons.
Kursk
By the very same car brand new and it drove beautifully. The design of the convertible has held up beautifully. It's not a difficult engine to work on. When you consider what 70's era. BMW 2002s are going for, these cars start to make sense.
I missed out on one of these last summer it had 60k mikes and cost $13k. Such a good looking car. If you get it sorted out it will be a great starting point for the next owner to continue on with the maintenance and little issues that will pop up. But you would have given the car a start on its life extension. I’m interested if it becomes available. 👍
Th fading emblem is a "timed" feature built in. By 100,000 miles, when the car has fallen apart and is blowing smoke they don't want others to be able to tell what kind of car it is.
Adjusted for inflation, this is a well above 6 figure car. Falling to pieces by the time it hits 100K on the clock is criminal.
"The Bangle Butt gave you something to hold onto" yes, while you pushed it to the next service station.
I just repaired the valve stem seals on my car, engine doesn’t have to come out. AGA tool gets it done a lot quicker. That said, with the awful alternator bracket leak…might as well pull it and do a full reseal.
I happen to have one of those...mine is in great shape and runs well. These cars aren't that bad as long as you take care of them.
Ninja's also only a few Hoovie's BMW mistakes away from getting his own yatch.
And a yacht as well
Car Wizard is up to 3 yachts, Ninja needs to get started with his fleet.
Usually a bad sign when your mechanic grabs his face when he sees the car bought and asks why
A BMW mechanic seeing a BMW at that. Speaks volumes, doesn't it? 😂
This car is right up my alley! My E38 was in worse condition and now it's my daily and I'm almost finished with 90s Volvo. I need to find me a cheap 6-series soon
I'm still happy with my 02 qx4 i got for 2000 bucks. Replaced the alternator and everything works except the tilt headlights (not sure what happened, they worked when i got it) and the passenger seat doesn't go forwards and back (but it's in the perfect spot) has a power steering leak but besides that it drives great. I've put over 10k miles on it no issue.

I have a 2005 645ci. It has gone through the works mechanically speaking. Just 3 months ago - alternator bracket leak, valve stem seals, timing chain cover leak, head gasket leak, new AC compressor, Oil change and new battery. They pulled the motor out and fixed everything. It was 6200 bucks at AGA in Escondido, Ca. I have rattle canned both the front and rear bumpers in the past and they look fine. Car has 140k miles on it. All these cars have the same problems. Aside from the leaks and normal wear they perform well. Or you can spend 8k on a nice used Honda.
I would love to have one sorted, I was looking at them but I got scared. If you’ll rescue it, it will make someone very happy, it sure would make me happy. Go for it!
