  • The only thing I gotta say is... RIP Coach Chaney.

  • My God, I remember this so well. And Chaney was DEFENDING the refs! Not something he did very often. Loved that Eddie Jones and Aaron McKie, two players who had long NBA careers, are the players in there to pull their beloved coach away. Chaney was passion, discipline, hard work, refine your strengths, know your weaknesses and avoid them (I could go on). Of my personal sports heroes, he is on my Mount Rushmore.

    • I sat in a postgame press conference with Chaney. I would take that bet. Guy was very short, but his eyes were scary. He looked psychotic up close. However, when he got to talking, he was as mellow and classy as you can get.

  • He was a great coach and person.. had the opportunity to meet him once a very gracious man.. I think the intensity of this game and Calipari’s punchable face got the best of him this night 🤣

  • Three rows behind the bench that night. Tons of trash talk. Those guys were playing hard that night.

  • Coach Chaney was all class and a gentleman of the highest character. And despite what led up to this moment, I do respect Calipari's response. Instead of lashing out emotionally in the moment, which most of these current coaches would've done...he decided to de-escalate the situation. I appreciate that.

  • They don’t make them like John Chaney anymore. That was a generation when men were still men.

  • Considering how his coaching career ended, I am not surprised Cheney went off like this.
