I remember a time I was at a AAA game. An outfielder didn’t realize that there were only two outs. He went to give a kid (maybe about 10-12 years old) the ball the kid literally yelled at him that it was only two outs and the guy threw the ball in and got the runner going to 3rd out. After that inning he brought a game ball, a hat signed by the team, and a bat to the kid for paying attention and helping him out. I thought that was very nice.
Did that player ever make it to the majors? Just curious 🤔 🙃
If he threw the ball to the runner, did the runner tag himself out, or did he tag the third baseman?
@@1223baddad not that I remember honestly. It was a little bit ago. It was the Nashville sound around the early 90s. The ball player wasn’t anyone of note that I can remember.
@@jhandle4196 thanks for pointing out my error. I corrected it.

I like how in the thumbnail he calls the player “it” 😂

Well “it” could just be in reference to the fact that there is or isn’t a player there.

Perhaps the thumbnail editor was intimidated by the "unlimited genders" police.
It had me laughing so hard when all the players just watched the ball hit the ground in a easy fly ball 😂

We've all done it!
Wow, this makes me feel better. I play in a slow-pitch softball league and I'm always asking how many outs there are. We have no scoreboard (some of our parks actually have them, but they are never on). These guys can look up at almost any angle of a major league ballpark and there will be a large, easily legible out total somewhere in their field of vision!
. . if they can find it buried among all the NASCAResque advertising plastered all over the stadium.
@@jhandle4196 yeah well, I grew up in Fenway, not quite as plastered there, but good point!
Hello 2 years later, hope you are doing well with your softball league if you are still doing it, if not, i hope you had a blast!
@@anderson74 thanks, we had an OK season this year. I got a hitting coaching session last week; kicking myself for not going earlier. I’ll keep playing until I’m in a wheelchair!
why wouldn't they use the scoreboard? how are the fans supposed to know how many runs each team has if scoreboards aren't used?
0:27 Why would you edit the part out where the runner decides to run to home? It would’ve been nice to see the pitcher looking oblivious before he realizes what is happening.
yeah i don’t understand why that clip was cut so weird. it was like the 2 crucial seconds that we wanted to see!
There were a few weird edits but it got better as the video went along.
The full video was a fuck up with the way it was edited
I had assumed that portion of the video got claimed
Especially seeing as how that was the thumbnail
It's amazing that professionals have no clue how many outs there are. Utterly amazing.
They should jot it down on those little note papers they keep in their back pockets, which MLB should not allow.
I guess that's why i see some players putting up 1 or 2 fingers to other players after an out. Imagine making that kind of error in a World Series that costs you a game.
ahhhh...its easier to lose track than you might think. Remember that these guys play 162 games a year, which is 4,131 outs (average 8.5 innings in the field) per year. Sometimes it just happens where a lot may be going on in a play getting your mind on something else in that split second moment, or things are so boring and quiet your brain gets lulled to sleep. Of course it shouldn't happen but you know shit happens sometimes.
After watching this, I'm confident JR Smith was meant to play baseball.

I think the funniest part was when the announcer said that he’d been on that position before😂
These highlighted moments are the only way I can watch baseball.
6:00 and that is exactly why even in little league we were taught to always run it out.
Can confirm this; played little league myself
Yup that's the first test, otherwise you should ride the bench for a little while.
Ok one of you is going to know this...help me out. Say there is a runner on first base and one out. Batter flies out for the second out. Fielder doesn't know how to count to three and throws the ball to a lass that has been flirting with him all game. She hangs on to it and refuses to give it back. How far can the runner advance? Second base? Or all the way home?
@@ddebenedictis I think it's two bases
@@ddebenedictis " All throws from the outfield. All throws from the outfield that go out of play are treated the same as second throw from the infield. That is, the ball is dead and all runners, including the batter-runner, are awarded two bases from the time of the throw. There's a lot to digest on the overthrow out of play scenario, and because it's such a common event on amateur fields, you need to just sit down and learn it. Most rules that have multiple parts tend to progress logically. If you know one part, the successive parts emerge naturally. Not so much in this case"
Like how the thumbnail says " It does not notice it" so they arent men or women, just it lmao
You can no longer assume anyone's gender identity. LOL
6:09 is a great example of why teamwork and communication is important.
Since it's all about entertainment, the lack of teamwork did more toward that end.
6:50 Pass Interference. Defence #15. Player was tackled before he had possession of the ball. 100 foot reduction of the outfield fence to the plate. Ball 1.
By the way, I love how this entire video is a mishmash of offense and defense napping. Just so you never know what to expect.
Paid millions of dollars....still have no idea how many outs there are...🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣
Counting to three can be tough. LOL
Especially with today's educational system.
Seeing a lot of Cubs and Red Sox in this video. It’s not hard to figure out how they both went about a century between World Series titles.
The Manny cutoff makes my laugh every time. As a hitter, he was great. As a fielder, he was...a great hitter.
It's why baseball is interesting. It requires paying attention at all times.
Hearing Curt Gowdy's voice brings back a flood of great memories.
Matt Vasgersian should announce the World Series. Change my mind
I don't think theres many people that would want to change your mind.
I watched the 2016 World Series in China and his was the voice I heard. I never wanted to go back to Joe Buck after that.
Marc Solis I totally agree
@@jamaalfridge More baseless Joe Buck slams. Once again, I've never seen anyone who slams Buck give any actual REASON why he's bad. Because they've got nothing. Buck is the best in the business. Not that Vasgersian is BAD, but his voice gets FAR more irritating at exciting moments. It gets WAY too high-pitched and shrill, and his predilection for saying "SANTA MARIA" sounds simply ridiculous and embarrassing. I cringe whenever I hear that. One of the greatest moments in baseball history occurred when David Bote hit his ultimate slam, but I never watch replays of it because Vasgersian spoiled it with a huge pus-filled zit of "SANTA MARIA!!!!" during it. When Vasgersian speaks normally, though, he's very good, just like virtually every other baseball announcer. Buck, however, is the best in the business. He strikes the right balance of normal voice and exciting voice so that he can somehow make even the normal and routine sound exciting, while the exciting sound even MORE exciting. Remember Alex Gordon's base hit in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the 2014 World Series? Buck called that to PERFECTION. Oh, my goodness.

In Little League, we always used to call out all over the field the number of current outs as each batter came up. Fundamentals aren't so bad, are they?
We did the same 😉
We did that, too. Only one park in our league had a scoreboard.
I guess they should do the same thing in the big leagues because forgetting how many outs there are seems to happen a lot
Great collection of highlights
3:52 "Carlos Beltran is standing at the plate with a bat in his hands." It's okay, he probably wouldn't swing it anyway. Cardinals fans should know that from 2006. 😂😭
I had one of those Marte moments during a state playoff game. I was very embarrassed.
We always announced the number of outs to each other to make sure we all knew the out count.

Eight words you never want to hear from the broadcasters: "He doesn't know how many outs there are!"
My Babe Ruth coach always told me to know these 3 things at ALL times when you’re on defense: 1. How many outs there are. 2. Where the runners are. 3. What to do when you get the ball. I added 4 when I started coaching little league: ALWAYS anticipate it coming to you, so NOTHING will catch you by surprise.
You should always know how many outs are on offense too lol there's a couple in this video and I watched Javy Baez do it this year from 1st base on a fly ball for thw 2nd out. He started going on contact and then got passed 2nd and they threw the ball back to 1st and got him out

Nothing will top a young David Cone arguing a call at first while not one but two Atlanta Braves score.
Went with a friend to a Cubs game where Cone started for the visitors (Mets?). After doing the usual buy the cheapest upper deck tickets and then sit wherever we wanted, we ended up about 15 rows behind the 1st base dugout. The Mets were up 5-2 when my friend and I decided to start razzing Cone during his windups. We would yell "Hey Cone, you're a bum!" in unison, and he he threw 3 straight balls to walk the guy he was facing. Then he was like 2-1 on the next guy with us doing the same thing, and then I said to my friend, OK maybe hes getting used to it, so now let's skip a pitch and see if it messes with him. Sure enough, another ball, 3-1. I don't remember what happened with that batter but it must not have been a good inning for David, cuz my friend and I were comprehensively entertained by the ongoing results. After a couple innings of us hassling Cone on about 70% of his pitches, it must have started bothering him more and more cuz eventually he started looking toward us between pitches and pounding his fist in his glove. So of course we kept at it until he lost the lead and got pulled, the Cubs went on to win, and the Mets burned thru a big chunk of their bullpen, which they had been hoping to avoid doing with David getting the start. And that was the first of three ballgames we saw that day. After the nooner at Wrigley, we cruised on down to Comiskey to take in an afternoon White Sox game, and then after that headed a few miles over to northwest Indiana to watch the Kane County Cougars play a night road game. The crowd down there didn't like us too much, with us dressed like preppies, smoking giant cigars and cheering the visiting team in a stadium full of down-home farmers. Then a lady ten rows behind us decided to take offense to the cigar smoke and try to shut us down by challenging our seating assignments. She karened at us from ten rows back and asked if we were going to go away or was she going to call the usher. We said call the usher, so she did. Of course we had done the usual thing of sitting wherever we wanted, but we didn't care - getting kicked out would have been just as entertaining to us as watching the game was. Best part was, the usher merely sent us to our actual assigned seats, which were nine rows behind us - directly in front of the lady who had just called the usher on us. So we kept smoking the ridiculous cigars (we had actually bought the biggest clown-sized ones they had, but they were cheap and tasted awful) and blowing the smoke over our shoulders. Not one of my prouder moments, but at the time it was thoroughly enjoyable, especially cuz our teams won all three games.
I’m glad to see pee wee ball still exists.

Its funny how its always someone else's fault when the pitcher throws it to literally nothing lmao
Love your comment was thinking the same thing
In my experience it is someone else’s fault in most cases. They are preplanned plays and the pitcher is supposed to throw it tp the base without even looking. The fielder plays off the base and breaks at the last moment to be there when the throw arrives to not give the runner more than the minimum warning. In those cases, either the pitcher misread the signal or the fielder missed it. And in my experience the latter is more likely.
