Thank you. I had not put that together. I will go back and reread.
Another fantastic video!!! Thank you!!!
Excellent, very nicely explained. Thank you
I better understand now. What a wonderful parable.
Thank you, this was a beautiful explanation. You have a calming and peaceful voice.
I love this channel and I am grateful for your voice and teaching style
I was thinking of how Come Follow Me this wee related so much to conference! Glad I found this video
Thanks. I'm going to reread this chapter, now that you have given me eyes to see :)
Well done Sorella Devonas! ✨🥰✨
I think the parable shows 2 times in the House of Israel. It begins with the House of Israel, and then it details the scattering and 1st restoration, and then the 2nd restoration. All other times in the parable are planning and evaluations of these 2 times. The text is clear that the "second time" will be the last time (Jac 6:2), so connecting the 2nd time to Joseph Smith is very important.
Agree
? connecting to Joseph Smith the second time?
I love the watercolors and artwork featured on this video! ❤ could I get more info about them and their artists?

Yup, the Temple is sure in there, isn't it!
Did you get this idea from Dave Butler?
Regarding the comment at the one minute mark comment about the atonement…shouldn’t it also include the cross…?
As the atonement begins in an olive vineyard (Gethsemane) and the Cross is also referred to as a tree its presence is implied.
@@Steelblaidd is it? I rarely hear people talk about - or “imply” - the cross as a part of the atonement.
@@rchaser4That's really strange to me. I am a life long member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints and I have always heard and understood that the cross has been part of the atonement.
I was just trying to explain this the other day with Greg Matsen and I dont believe he waa having any of what i was saying either. 😂 Im SO grateful to you for sharing this video packed with pure truth and knowledge. ❤
I think this video could have been strengthened by mentioning and explaining the word "graft." Each branch of the family tree in this allegory, though once separated from its mother tree, is made a natural part of the tree through the grafting, welding, sealing process. The covenants Abraham made are available to us in God's temple, and by making those covenants we commit (graft) ourselves to Abraham's heritage, which is Jesus Christ, whether or not we carry his blood in our veins. Were it not for it's dedication to what happens inside, the temple would just be a nice building. The real pursuit is the covenant made before God, angels, and witnesses, which has been expressly reserved for the temple in the latter days.
I've read Jacob 5 many times and I've listened to this twice and I just don't see or understand what you are saying about the temple at all.
@cindiew7280 It was a bit confusing to me too at first because she talks very fast! I had to slow her speed down to .75 For starters here are a few things to consider that she teachesb in the video: 1. "Unfolding a mystery" (Jacob's phrase introducing the allegory) are words akin to being "endowed with knowledge" 2. Translate the Hebrew word for mystery he uses and it is "sod" which refers to "a divine council." If you haven't been to the temple recently (since Feb 2023) then this part won't make much of a connection to the endowment ceremony. 3. Another Hebrew word Jacob used is "liken." This is translated "mashal" which can refer to a mystery only to be revealed in a sacred holy place... Are you starting to see?
Seems like she is talking normal speed, not too fast at all.
same. I get that they can tie a few words and ideas, but I don't really get how this allegory is any more closely related to the temple than anything else in the gospel
The narrative structure of the parable to me (segments of time when the lord of the vineyard confers and then goes down with a servant) does seem similar to the narrative structure of the endowment. It’s difficult for me to think of other examples in the scriptures that have this sort of narrative structure. And it’s ok if this approach doesn’t resonate with you. There are lots of ways to be blessed by studying scripture, and many good ways to approach them.
@@azhotmomthe definition of a mystery is just a truth reveled that is understood . A lot of truths are not understood .
Jacob 5 certainly has multiple messages. But this is a stretch beyond reason. Inferring meanings that are, at best tangential, detracts and distracts from the allegory.
What a terrible comment. Imagine someone in Sunday School, or even worse one of you children at the dinner table saying “hey I made this connection while I was studying.” Would your response be to say that connection is beyond reason and distracts from the text… I would sure hope not.
@@brandonl2555 So, you prefer a "nice" lie as opposed to truth? For me, I will stand for truth and plain gospel teachings, and oppose this kind of watering down the truth to make the scriptures into something they CLEARLY are NOT. Yes, I would set the record straight in Sunday School. It's not a place to perpetuate fanciful stories or pretend to infer something clearly not there. Nor should it go uncountered with truth, lest the whole class atmosphere be degraded permanently as a place to spout wild tangential interpretations. Most of the material from this channel is high quality, substantiated with doctrine, general authority interpretations, etc. This fanciful interpretation is a clear anomaly from that standard. It doesn't belong, and absolutely deserves to be called out as non-scriptural.
Wow! Perhaps you should throw in the kitchen sink since you have thrown in almost everything else in your Olive Tree Allegory explanation video. The allegory of the Olive Tree recorded in Jacob chapter 5 is not just referring to the House of Israel but to the whole world. Remember the promise The Lord gave to Abraham that from his seed all nations would be blessed? This allegory is the complete synopsis of how that is to take place. I could go into more detail but why bother. It seems the LDS Church is bound and determined to connect the temple and its ordinances to anything and everything ever written in scripture. As you mentioned correctly the temple is itself an allegory of not only Eden but Heaven itself. But mankind is not quite ready for Heaven but that hasn’t stopped the LDS Church’s drive to force feed everyone temple ordinances that most if not all are simply not ready for. Furthermore, the part of the allegory where the Lord of the Vinyard (earth) and His servant (Jesus Christ) have come down to visit to only find vast amounts of wild fruit growing midst all of the trees (save one) is in reference to NOW! Do you honestly believe that the once called Mormons, or members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints constitute the good fruit mentioned in this allegory that the Lord will store up unto Himself? I am LDS, but I also have eyes to see and ears to hear and a brain to reason things out for myself rather that blindly feeding on the words of others who blindly feed on the words others. I also have a voice to pray for the truth rather than accepting it on the word of another. I could say so much more because there is so much more to say. So much more to consider, so much more to ponder over but the roots of the tree (our God given divinity) feed upon the branches which represent the zeal of mankind who think they have all the answers but are themselves deceived. We are all corrupt! No wonder, the Lord of the Vineyard, first thought to burn it all down…
What’s your intent in writing this?
