Tom is hilarious. What a great person to have in pro racing
His shock is summed up with a great quote, “What the hell just happened? It felt like we were in the gruppetto.”
I think one can understand some message behind those lines
You gotta love him. Always honest and sincere in interviews.
Honest? He thought he could have been second, he was clearly not as strong as the Maxim and Tom Skujinš ,but if you ask TP, he is always surprised he didn't do better. He is like a less endearing Greg Van Avemaet (always just out of reach of the top step).
"It's like Ironman or something" - Tom's too funny. 😂
I really like Pidcock. Such a talented rider in THREE types of racing and always gives a no nonsense, tell it like it is interview every time.
Couldn't agree more!
Crazy. And not to be not expected. Dead bodies. Great analogy. No words for it. Different playing field. Mad when cycling so hard Tad just bombs ahead
In all honesty, the cycling right now is about 4 people. Two of them specialize in sort of one day races, one specializes in TDF, the fourth one is Tadej Pogacar. Bonkers. The guy is a smiling assassin. When he’s having fun, you’re fecked.
Yeah, true, but then the landscape can change quickly, a new star can appear so fast. Let's keep tuned in and find out!
@@FloBikes Fair enough. Although a new star doing stuff like this would be something.
I just love this race. Pog does so well in crappy conditions. This is a special time in cycling history with the crop of talent we get to witness.
I've followed racing for over 40 yrs and I've never seen anything like it. It's not just the talent level, the racing itself is insanely good. I watched the 2014 Tour of Flanders for a bit the other day and there was an intact peloton at the front with 40k's left with nothing happening. The racing the last few years though has exploded! Evenepoel, Van Aert, Van der Poel, Pogacar, Pidcock, and Vingegaard- six once in a decade riders all racing in the same era. Like I said, I've never seen anything like it.
WTF. WTF. 😮 Dead bodies racing. Great perspective from Pidcock. Had to be a beast out there. 😢
Strade Bianche is so an insane race. All riders finish one by one.
Took three guys from Visma to wear Pogacar down in Tour de France. Not too surprised he took off at 80k left 😂
Great comment
They are just different things. Pogacar is the best rider in the world, but he isn't the best 3 week rider. Vingegaard smashed him 2 years in a row by minutes and won both Tours comfortably. However Vingegaard can't do what Tadej does in one day races and Tadej completely smashed him in Paris Nice and another early season, one week stage race last year. Pogacar ought to win the Giro fairly comfortably, but if he wants to beat Vingegaard at the Tour, he will most likely have to focus only on the Tour. That would be a tremendous loss for all of us cycling fans.
@@mrm95nothing to add, perfect comment
We will see this year’s TDF
@@mrm95 Dont forget that Pogy was injured...he is a perfect shape again, like 3 years ago..
Great that he would give such an honest appraisal of the race and how he rode it.
Such an honest and to the point response from Tom, what a fantastic athlete and ambassador for cycling!
"Well, NO." haha
great interview
What a legend, pure honesty.
Love him to bits. Toms just beginning and already a modest champion
Tom is a proper hero. An inspiration to the next generation (hope I won't regret saying this in 10 years like I did with LA!). Love his attitude, just loving riding bikes. Time will tell if Pog really is the natural talent he appears to be. In any case all of this is enough to inspire me to keep getting on my bike! 🙂
Tom is a really nice guy so it will never be like the other guy
If Pogacars Ride was for the history Books this Interview should be considered aswell. Tom Pitcocks WTF Statement should be printed on cycling jerseys worldwide. Guys like him…much needed these days🤙👏
You got the quote of the day!
😃😃😃
What the F, exactly what the other dead bodies were saying. Pogi is from another world!
Yeah wonder how…
@@Fabs821 you can't argue with skills, it was pouring and he kept riding full speed
Really interesting. Maybe the shorter circuit would make for a better race, but I think the organisers are really pushing for that Monument designation. Respect the Tom, as others have said here, he has no filter, which is great.
Nice interview great
Thanks
You got to love Tom X
Tom is a legend.
Pidcock is the new generation of riders which can perform in Cross - Road- and MTB on top level . Only few riders can do like Evenepoel and Van der Poel . He is also a very leg to earth grounded rider which makes him very symphatic.
"..if i played it a bit better i would have been 2nd...." that is what last year champ says. so if your name is not mathieu or wout you are basically hoping for accident or fighting for 2nd. also @Greg excellent questions. I must say you really have a good rapport and relationship with these riders and getting them to speak at this moment of exhaustion is hard but best time to figure out what happened.
I agree👍🏽
Amazing reaction from Tom Pidcock there. I think it emphasises what a great rider Pogacar is. Tom is top quality but his shock at what Pog did shows that he’s on another level to the rest in that race.
Simple answer from him always…what do you say to him…WTF….Tom Pidcock great guy absolutely honest with his words…respect!
😅 such a cool guy and real sportsman. So much luck for us to have Tom in this sport.
Bro is in more shock than us the spectators
Reminiscent of when Tiger would win a major golf tourney by 12 strokes or when Jordan would hit for 25+ in one quarter of an NBA playoff game or Serena sweeping a Grand Slam in 6-0. 6-0. Greatness on a different level that makes top tier pros look like amateurs.
You are comparing 3 sports that not have anything to do with cycling. You could have used atheltics or even cycling itself. I remember this type of superiority lf certain riders in the 80-90s, don't you?
@@sanchez231996 You must be talking about Vingegaard.
@@DR_1_1 yep, I can talk about jumbo, old sky, the uae of matxin ang gianneti. I am talking now about what happened yesterday. Go back and watch football with your sick blindness for favourite riders
@@sanchez231996 I mean...I guess I thought most would consider it an honor to be compared to the greatest ever in other sports (Jordan or tiger or Serena)...but maybe not?
What was Romain Bardet's dad doing behind Tom there? HAHAHAHA
hahaha
I really don't have any words for that tbh.... I think most feel the same Tom.... To quote Orwell " The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
Does anyone know where I could buy this INEOS Cap like the guy behind Tom has?
The black ones are team wear, they only sell the blue fan ones!
interesting point at the end: long strade course feels more like an ironman than a road cycling race
Pogačar ✌️♥️🇸🇮
SLO VE NI JA !!!
Tom, YOU ARE IRONMAN!!
Please don't ever change Tom , Fantastic.
Pog vs Ving is going to be the Sampras vs Agassi of cycling.
Got the quote of the race there from Pidcock. Ron B just doesn't miss
Thanks Young jedi
Thomas is so strong rider. Hope your win in classics in now year❤ . 2324

Over rated. Under performing. Fans defending him when jn reality, he isnt as good as the top guys?
@@karl8805what did I just read? Do you even know, what he has already won? Just few achievements: TDF 2x, II Lombardia 3x, Flanders 1x, Strade Bianche 2x, Liege - Bastogne - Liege 1x, 11 TDF stages…

Tom is a really good guy and super Champion, all respect for him :-)
tom is alwys honest - to make the race longer is so stupid
Think Tadej and Jonas are sending messages to each other.
Le Strade Bianche is the New Monument. The différence with the others Monuments is that nobody think about this race before the WWII...
Pogacar is the greatest since Merckx. It is that simple. Pogo may well end up the best there ever was. If you know cycling you already knew that.
Weeeeel.. Not sure about that lol.. Mvdp emters the chat
@@karl8805yeah, it’s hard to compare Pog and MVDP. Both incredible talents. But Pog is such a ridiculous all-rounder.
@@karl8805MvDP is also a pure talent, but just for classics. He will never win any Grand Tour.. Pogacar, on the other hand, might win all three in his career. That is something what defines the greatest ever.
A bit too early to say that
💯 juiced up
Bonjour moi perso j'aime les performances mais la partir a pré de 80 kms de l'arrivée et tenir sur une dizaine de coureurs sans faiblir bizarre mais bon pourtant ils ne s'amusait pas derrière
As a cyclist, you can relate on what Tom says… its a testament to how strong these guys are, full gas at the start and you wont have anything when someone attacks… its pain tolerance really after fitness…
"WTF!" I love his candidness.
Was this a Flo post to youtube? Hey Flo, I’d liked to have watched Srade, and now, Paris-Nice, but you don’t serve my area. Well, then NOTE THAT PLEASE, on all such upcoming events and replays. You tease and waste my time. I am peaved.
He knows.
Tom and many of the other riders have already had plenty of racing as the season builds up, so for TP to win by that margin in his first race of the season is interesting. That was one boring race for the viewers at home.
No real threat for Pogi from the start.
Perhaps it’s too early in the season for a race which is so hilly to be any longer than it was. And anyone who has ridden a bike on gravel roads knows they take more energy. OK Milan San Remo is 300 km but at least you can sit in the wheels for 80 - 90% of it. Pogi’s ride was out of this world but if the rest of the field is coming in in small groups that has to tell you something.
Since they were all dead bodies as Tom puts it I think he could have pulled off the same move because everybody was like WTF I'm not chasing that fool.
Are they doing all the same sport....?
Dang, they got gapped today. Boys were in the hurt locker.
yeah. Loved his reaction. So Tom Pidcock :)
Wondering if world tour riders are permitted to use Camelbaks?
Too much hassle getting on/off, they'd consume a full camel back in an hour or so, increase body temp, heavy, expensive if they were discarded like empty bottles. List could go on
Pogačar always have this kind of solo attacks, most of the time peloton, if properly organized, always catches up, this time they were totally unorganized at the back and that's why Pogačar was able to win.
Why wasn't he wearing the red bull helmet?
My understanding, Tom is sponsored by Red Bull but Ineos are not, hence why he can’t wear a RB helmet whilst riding for ‘team’ Ineos. Cyclocross and MTB don’t count as he rides as an individual not for the team. Wout can race wearing an RB helmet because Lotto have RB as a team sponsor…
Just to throw in another comment which is pure speculation on my part and that is I understand Red Bull are about to sponsor a pro team - I only heard this a couple of days ago and can’t remember which existing team they are going to partner with.
@@tomrees4812Bora
@@tomrees4812 RB have bought a majority stake in Bora. The deal goes beyond sponsorship.
Where's the interview with Pogi with the fella who asked Tadej "if likes the nickname The White Bullet?" to which he essentially responded "not really no, go back try again and we'll find a better one".. I've a couple suggestions which would suit perfectly. Due to him calling his shot, telling the entire field his strategy, and then proceeding to execute exactly that, all the while laughing in their faces and hardly breathing heavy.. He surely has to be given the nickname Pogstradamus! Or Prophetic Pogi (Ala Conor "Mystic Mac" McGregor)
I''m glad Britain still has some talent with Pidcock but when Pogacar leaves someone like that standing you really have too appreciate how good Podacar is.
It’s kind of a joke, honestly. Tadej’s only weakness (and he’s still one of the best in the world at it) are long, high altitude climbs. He’s arguably the best one day rider, the best stage race rider, top 2 climber, top 5 in the TT, top 5 roleur, really good sprinter. He’s like Merckx, but with much better competition. I’m extremely skeptical.
TP keeping it real. You can take the lad out of Yorkshire but...
“I don’t know what to say tbh” is code for “he’s juiced up for sure”
❤ Wtf😂😂😂😂
WTF. Love him, lol
Wait until it rains during a ride and you have to clean grime out of every bushing in that system to it to work properly again. And then 3 month later the springs stretch out and suddenly they won’t rebound… Had this bike for two years and let’s just say I’m very happy to be on discs these days.
XDDDD
Lo pintaron😂
WTF, indeed.
Wtf.... like wtf!
Lol Piddock just needs to get more consistent wins and battling it out with the current generations... He's already got a winning personality and talent.
😂
Tom welldone you are among the best would been better on the podium but tadaj was reaping the peleton apart
Hahaha WTF.
Wtf?! 😂
Truth is that there are 4/5 fenomenal riders, and than the rest. Tom isn't even in the top 10. He simply can do nothing, doesn't need to explain
Sure he won last year and came 4th this year, but yea you’re right he’s not in the top 10 lol
@mattfearuk Pogačar Vingegaard Van der Poel Roglic Evenepoel Van Aert Pedersen Laporte A. Yates Tarling All better than Pidcock
@@piripero5777 not in this race!
@@piripero5777 Sure they’re all incredible riders! But Id like to see any one of those riders listed win such a diverse range of races such as Strade bianche, alpe duez tour stage, Olympic mtb championship, world cx champs etc etc etc he’s a multi disciplinary rider and hasn’t even really started focusing on Grand tour gc ambitions yet. Saying one rider is ‘better’ than another is pretty short sighted & reductive.
Bad move to change the parkour

Most boring edition ever? :)
@@pavelnedved3301Hi Pavel, no, I'm not brit, I think I'm closer to your border :) From racing point of view, he had best legs yesterday and he won, that's ok... but I'm cycling fan, I need some emotions and there was none. Womens race was much better :)
It was very shameful for all the racer who didn't work to get Poggi.
They tried Bro but they just couldn't....the boy POGOCAR is very gifted, he has that something beyond explanation....
Didn't look like they had the legs, tbh, collectively or not. As TP said, "wtf!?"
@@carlrichards9333 well you also had riders chasing down every attack and telling the others to chill like when Lotto DSTNY did with like 40km to go… I feel like if a smaller group of 4 or 5 strong riders got away and worked together they might have atleast made it a closer race. But who knows 🤷🏽♂️
@@gazelleonwheels ....your hilarious 🤡...haven't you realised there are no "what's if's, maybes or butts" in life, there is only what there is and yesterday there was only POGOCAR annihilating the rest of the peloton...KENCO
This was the most boring Strade Bianche ever.
The girls had an awesome race, just like the omloop the other day excellent racing.
Tom is like Greg Vanavermat ( my favorite rider from Thats era), i.e. he may win some races, but will never have the palmares of the top riders of this generation. He obviously has a talent, and is skilled, but is not the same league as Tadej, Remco, MVP, WVA, or Primoz. Also, no way he was finishing second today, Maxim van gils and Tom Skujinš were clearly better, and smarter than him.
People want to say MVP is close to Pog. What a joke. First MVP will NEVER win a grand tour (very likely not even a podium finish) and Pog already has 2 TdF wins plus twice 2nd. When it came down to one on one at 2023 Flanders (supposed the best terrain for MVP) Pog rode away from him. Clear the Pog is far better than MVP.
Pog can do most terrains which is impressive
Total destruction
