    • Honest? He thought he could have been second, he was clearly not as strong as the Maxim and Tom Skujinš ,but if you ask TP, he is always surprised he didn't do better. He is like a less endearing Greg Van Avemaet (always just out of reach of the top step).

  • In all honesty, the cycling right now is about 4 people. Two of them specialize in sort of one day races, one specializes in TDF, the fourth one is Tadej Pogacar. Bonkers. The guy is a smiling assassin. When he’s having fun, you’re fecked.

    • I've followed racing for over 40 yrs and I've never seen anything like it. It's not just the talent level, the racing itself is insanely good. I watched the 2014 Tour of Flanders for a bit the other day and there was an intact peloton at the front with 40k's left with nothing happening. The racing the last few years though has exploded! Evenepoel, Van Aert, Van der Poel, Pogacar, Pidcock, and Vingegaard- six once in a decade riders all racing in the same era. Like I said, I've never seen anything like it.

    • They are just different things. Pogacar is the best rider in the world, but he isn't the best 3 week rider. Vingegaard smashed him 2 years in a row by minutes and won both Tours comfortably. However Vingegaard can't do what Tadej does in one day races and Tadej completely smashed him in Paris Nice and another early season, one week stage race last year. Pogacar ought to win the Giro fairly comfortably, but if he wants to beat Vingegaard at the Tour, he will most likely have to focus only on the Tour. That would be a tremendous loss for all of us cycling fans.

OK Milan San Remo is 300 km but at least you can sit in the wheels for 80 - 90% of it. Pogi’s ride was out of this world but if the rest of the field is coming in in small groups that has to tell you something.

  • People want to say MVP is close to Pog. What a joke. First MVP will NEVER win a grand tour (very likely not even a podium finish) and Pog already has 2 TdF wins plus twice 2nd. When it came down to one on one at 2023 Flanders (supposed the best terrain for MVP) Pog rode away from him. Clear the Pog is far better than MVP.
