Welcome back to RBR guys & this is my own #Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. Last time I drove it on the channel it was the German Press car Cross Turismo Turbo S that top gear had half destroyed off roading it. And what a car it was! The aggressive super wagon looks rivalled even the RS6, and the massive speed and practicality won us all over, so much so that I bought one and you guys viewed the video almost a million times.
As of today I’ve done over 9000(!?) miles in my 4S, in mere months as my combustion cars lay gathering dust.
Why have I been so addicted to it? What makes it better than my other daily #supercars? What did I love and what did I hate? These are some off the questions I’ll answer in todays review and report on living with my first #EV from Porsche, so let’s get to it and review my cross Turismo 4S!
So as a reminder - the two-tier Performance Battery Plus used in the Taycan Turbo S comes as standard in the CT, it’s just under 100kw size and it can charge from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes!
At home I use the CTEK Home Charger, as seen in the video:

The electric motors used are Permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, or PSM. These are always alive and give much higher output without overheating vs systems used in past Teslas. The 4S has a 600-amp pulse inverter which is our motor on the rear, and a 300 AMP inverter on the front too; and of course the 2 speed gearbox, 1st gear is mainly used in Sport or Sport Plus modes.
Technical Changes Vs the standard Taycan include a more off road and yet more compliant suspension, using a three-chamber air set up giving a wide range of spring rates & heights. The rear is way larger, we have 47 mm more headroom and a boot with 40 litres more and the all important hatchback - I’ll give you some storage tips on this.
The more important thing is perfoance however, here the 4S Cross Turismo has 490HP on the road and then overboost and Launch Control of 571. They say acceleration 0-60 is 4.1 seconds… this is a bald faced lie! Wait to see the launch info here.
Having done 9000 miles, I’m gonna focus on my experience with this car as my first electric vehicle. That means telling you guys all the things I discovered, things I loved, things that really irritated me, and in general why I’m sold on the Taycan as a product.
As an example, PCM in Taycan crashes with black screens a lot, so I give you a Debug screen fix to help owners. I discover how Lift mode is really useful, how to clean the rear camera which was not obvious (neither way vent control inside) and find an amazing dynamic ambient light option!
The main point I wanna put across, is how I feel living with this versus something like an E 63 or the M5 - which is where I see this car fitting! Today we explore:

Very interesting to see professional reviewers do reviews on cars they own. This took longer than I was hoping (since the collection video) but it was worth it. Should help people that are looking to make their Taycan decisions too.
Honestly, I’ve been trying to convince my wife that this HAS TO BE our next car. I was lucky to drive it for 30 mins one day & I’ve never felt the way I did about any other car ever! It is quite simply, THE SEXIEST car on the roads at the minute. It is pure filth.

Agree with pretty much everything Rez said. Have been running a very similarly specced car for 12 weeks and it’s epic. Speed, Comfort and at home charging make it unbeatable. For reference … drove a 2008 911 Turbo shortly after Taycan delivery, never haven driven any 911 before and felt they were pretty evenly matched for pace despite the huge weight difference
I've just got the 'boggo' Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, but would agree with your analysis overall. I;ve done 4k miles now and the comfort and refinement, combined with the performance and handling capabilities are simply epic. Addictive. One small drawback: I'm just waiting, patiently, for the OPC to get my bike rack.
Love this car. My wife has had a 4S Cross Turismo very similar to yours on order since December 2021 - fingers crossed we'll have it in a couple months, and it will be our 6th Porsche. As they say, there is no substitute. It's the first EV so good, I actually want to drive it because it's a blast! That is not something I could say before. Love your channel!

Raz, the Taycan can charge Level 2 up to 10.4kW using 48Amps at 240V. I’m sure that home charger of yours can support 7.6kW if you had 32Amps available. You probably only had a 16Amp circuit. As for Ionity you can certainly get up to the 270kW charging, I generally see 265kW if you start at less than 10% SoC. I have 28k miles on my Taycan 4S, enjoyed your review.

Great review. I am equally enthusiastic about my CT 4S. I was unsure of whether I should have gotten a Turbo S but having recently done a week’s trip on the autobahn I don’t see that it would be necessary. Acceleration up to 240 km/h in the 4S is surprisingly quick, and then it edges up to 250 km/h. It’s one of the most comfortable cars I’ve driven at those speeds (I have PDCC, PTV, 21 inch wheels). The range suffers a bit so I had to charge roughly every 200 km, but that was better than I expected from an EV.
I was thinking this, why don’t you have a 7kw charger like 99% of people who have one installed at home 🤷♂️
And on IONITY. It’s up to 350kw. And my Taycan charges as fast as 250 when the battery is low (sub 20%) and warm (35 degrees). To be fair; it slows quickly after it gets over 50%. Recently at IONITY I went from 13% to 60% in 14 mins.
yep, last summer in Germany, Denmark and Sweden we got 250 kWh from empty to about 55%.
Drive it on sport plus before charging warm battery and below 30% it charges quick

I even love my humble i3 (despite loving great petrol cars, too; 718 spyder due in two weeks). I can't imagine how good that taycan ct is.
At that price point, BLACK SCREENS ??? There is ZERO REASON to need a PCM / Engineering “Reboot”…. Turn car off and come back after 45 MINUTES??? C’mon Porsche that’s BS 🙄

My father owns this car to and we’re both addicted to it aswel. The fact that you can drive 160km/h and you just press the gas and it keeps going up is insane.

Likewise I am fully addicted to my Cross Turismo 4S, it truly amazing. I am fine with range, it forces you to take a break, the charging is acceptable, in fact mine only seems to slow down around 75%, but a break is good and allows you to chill out. It is solid, adaptable and the performance is amazing and most of all, I have enjoyed all 6,400 miles in 5 months. Some people comment about the control system, this is a car for driving not being driven, the systems in place are perfect.

Great informative video. I have ordered a Taycan 4S sport Turismo and one of the reasons was your videos. I’m on phase 3 out of 5 according to my Porsche app so production is scheduled to start soon and hope to get it by June or July.

I've had my 4S sport turismo for one week now and it is just so awesome to drive. My 10 year old son can't stop smiling on the school run!
Proper automotive designers like Porsche & Audi (plus eventually the F150 Lightning) are going to KILL the tech bros' Tesla crap.
Tesla pioneered all of this. I had geolocated adjustable ride height in my first Model S… in 2015. That car broke 60 in 4.5 seconds, so slower than the Taychan, but the always full every morning, instant torque off the line driving experience is the same. Lots more internal space though, so more practical with 5 adults. I don’t like Teslas minimalist interiors - feel they went too far with the yoke and abolishing indicator stalks. So these days I’m in an i4 M50….

Thank you for your review, and this Porche is a thing of beauty. I assume your home charger is 7kW and not 3.6kW House mains can only charge at 2.5kW as this is the allowed continuous rating of a house socket, though 3kW is peak and as you say, if you get a EV, then fit a type 2 : 7kW charger and you can fill your car with about 100 miles on octopus electricity over 4 hours at very cheap rates - I get 5p/unit as an early adopter : so overnight it cost me ONLY £1-20. If you fit a 3 phase house supply (quite rare for most UK homes), then a home charger can be 11kW for the porsche. Note that very few EV's support 3 phase charging. For non EV drivers, please remember the 2 points (to reinforce the comments here) about charging... An EV driver can leave every morning with a mostly full tank of "fuel", and rarely ever have to stop to charge. An EV driver on a long journey can plug in , go for a pee and have 120 miles added, or have coffee as well and be fully charged. You don't spend extra time on a stop on a long journey.
They need to improve their energy density, efficiency, range, and charging infrastructure a bit more before I would get one. But I could see getting one around 2030. I agree the Cross Turismo is the best looking BEV on the market by far. The eTron GT looks pretty awesome too.

Great review.. I think that Porsche under reports their acceleration numbers on the mid models as to not compete with the Turbo models.

Allways nice to experience your choice being confirmed by the pro! Can I ask you a question though concerning the rims? I would love to alter my standard ‘20” off road design wheels” for something similar like yours? The (Dutch) dealer didn’t have anything in his configurator like yours. Thanks on advance, Tim

Nice review. You have a lot of patience (and love) for a car with quite a few niggles TBH… Also, I guess it’s horses for courses regarding range anxiety, great to charge overnight for small daily commutes, not so great if you want to do long journeys (holidays to the continent… ).

Raz I have the same car too but you have to mention some failures with the car. 1) Middle console is useless, really difficult to reach it. 2) The rear view camera is not good at all, you know Mercedes has that option camera pops in and out when reversing. The Taycans rear camera gets dirty so fast no matter if you spill water on it. 3 I had problems with security alarm, always have to press the lock button twice as it starts to beep. 4) the car isn’t automatically locking when you go away from the car. 5) The app is not that good, is very basic compare to Tesla. 6) Shortcuts on the steering wheel aren’t that good neither, not possible to change music from steering wheel.

If you’re considering ordering a Porsche, rethink your expectations. I had my new turbo GT delivered early November. Ready to go except the Burmeister amp. I have been told it may sit on the lot for more than 2 months awaiting an amp because an incomplete car can’t be delivered. So, it sits on the dealer lot till at least mid Jan.
This is the only EV I would buy, What a thing. Love it.

I’ve heard software updates could require an extended stay at the dealership as over the air is still a work in process? Does the app work as a keyless replacement or do you still need a key fob? (Not talking about BMW key where you have to physically hold the phone near the door handle).. Curious if the brakes last a very long time like Tesla’s do or if the regen setup of the German’s cause them to have brake replacements comparable to traditional ICE counterparts.

@@AdityaChugh1 Oh right not too bad, no doubt they will put it back as you are probably expecting, hopefully not too long. I was informed 70 weeks for a 4s but that is through salary sacrifice scheme so not sure if lead times are longer for different places.

Hello, love your videos. I’m Intersting in buying a Taycan 4s saloon, which charger would you recommend for the home? Also a Taycan 4s or a Taycan turbo?
I've been considering getting a 2024 Model 3 Performance or a used 2021 Taycan 4S. What do you all think would be the better bet? Kinda concerned about reliability of the Porsche since it may be out of warranty for mechanical.
Very informative review…having to use the touchscreen to control the vents cracks me up. The Germans still haven’t figured out how not to overcomplicate things. They’ve been doing it for decades.
The rear axle steering seems to work wonders for me. The car is so long. But i was able to park at my condo space which is hard to park with just one maneuver. I couldn't believe it.

Great informative review. From a visual perspective can I suggest your attire would be better if you wore brighter colors rather than black, as the contrast makes for a better viewing experience when you’re inside and standing outside the cars. Peace ✌🏼

All the comments under this video make me sad.. Seems like almost everybody in the comments have a Porsche Taycan but me.. Man I would love to be able to afford such a car. I have to do it with an VW ID3 for now.. I love it though, don't get me wrong. Electric driving is superb. But this Porsche is on another level... one day... one day..

Did they update the infotainment sytem compared to the first taycan? I found it very sluggish, slow and underwhelming compared to my Fiat 500e
