  • I always spray a thin coat of Rust Check or WD-40 on any painted metal engine parts like the air filter housing and injector lines. Keeps it looking good under the hood.

    • haha this is an easy engine to work on.

      @myRatchets@myRatchets Жыл бұрын
  • I could not from the video, but did the engine have tappet hold down kit installed in the head? If it did not the tappet guides can back out and ruin the engine, especially since this car has higher mileage that would be a real concern.

  • Can you please clarify if rtv is to be used on your PermaDry Valve Cover gaskets? Because I watched another video from you that says RTV should NEVER be used on your PermaDry Valve Cover Gaskets, and I'm so confused.

  • (Apologies if slightly off topic, as soon a I saw the word “Gaskets” it reminded me of the Head-Gasket thing, Lol)I’m assuming there’s a logical reason I’ve simply never heard mentioned (Other than initial Cost to the auto/engine manufacturer..?), but my Question: Why not use a simple copper type head-gasket similar to what’s used in VERY High compression racing engines? …my first guess would be that they wouldn’t fail very often in a much more civilized street engine. It would *possibly* help to avoid the often Large Labor charge for the work necessary to access and swap out an OEM type gasket that’s seems like Frick’n rice-paper in comparison to a cooper Head-gasket? But Hell, I dunno. 🤔For some odd reason I researched the specific topic. Hmm… -- Anyway, Thanks! 👊

    @RagnarOdinson@RagnarOdinson Жыл бұрын
    • My guess is the cost of material and extra surface prep they would need to do for copper. MLS is cheaper and rarely fails on its own.

      @myRatchets@myRatchets Жыл бұрын
    • @@myRatchets Certainly very plausible answer. I just wonder, IF, a copper head-gasket Does have significantly more durability and longer Lifespan. For all I know something about the Race Gasket’s design characteristics, particular material science, rhe copper’s metallurgy, and some chemical breakdown reaction that’s accelerated by the extreme Heat? Make them tremendously Stronger at the cost of sacrificing Longevity. I dunno. ….BUT IF, let’s just say the metal gasket possibly has an Average Durability/Lifebspan2x-3x longer on average. ‘Cause I’m Poor, all my cars always well worn used and pretty much if the Head-gasket blows it’s more money fix then just buy new.
