  • Greetings from Bashkortostan! Thank you for being so considerate . In" Samaltau " Dimash sings a tragic song about a young man being forced to leave his elderly parents and homeland and go to war. A folk song in the classic Kazakh manner. In this position, folk singers usually sing, sitting around a fire in the steppe. Kazakh folk instruments are hung on the walls. I think he wanted to introduce the audience to the culture of the Kazakh people. And Dimash chose this song not without black humor. The guy on whose behalf the song is sung was mobilized for the war with Japan in 1916 and marches on foot with others. That is why we hear the sounds of the wind on the steppe, the howling of the wolf, the barking of dogs, the cries of cranes, and running water.

  • That's Olzhas Qurmanbek one of Dimash's greatest friends and musician colleagues. His virtuosity playing the kobiz is undeniable. He transports us to the steppe and the mountains of Kazakhstan. We almost can see the wolves howling at the moon light in the middle of a blizzard, we can almost feel the freezing wind. Dimash's voice is another story, he's able to send us centuries beyond into the past. He makes us cry while he tells the story, even if we don't understand a word we feel the pain of his ancestors.

  • Oh Sweetie, this is one of the most stunning of his performances. First, let's please acknowledge the beauty of the Kazakh language. And the primitive instruments used. If you review the lyrics you will understand the pleading, mourning elements of the song -- a young Kazakh being drafted unwillingly into service by the Russian Czar during WW I, and having no knowledge of why or by whom he is asked to fight and die. A young man who is of the plains, the horses, and the earth, crying for the loss of homeland and family. Add the peerless vocals of Dimash. The result is Samaltau -- a haunting, pleading, questioning lyric of war.

    • even worse. The forcefully recruited young Kazakhs did not get neither horses nor weapons, they had to dig ditches and were defenceless. If going home at all, it had to be by foot. So in the song he /or they are already exhausted after a 15-days march not knowing if they will ever each home and their family..... Cheers from Vienna

He sing about what will happen with his family when He goes away about Mountain and Sea. This a tresure song of kazakhstan and Dimash sing this like no one. The musical instrument is from Kazajistán and name “KOBIZ” , Using folk arrangements like “Sybyzgi”, beautiful Kazakh wind instrument. This live performance with his instrumentalists friends is a firm favourite of mine. His live singing is impeccable like always, even sitting cross legged on a piano stool. Streamed from his home, his music room it wen down a storm at his first appearance at the Tokio Jazz Festival although he was disappointed when it was canceled he was overjoyed when they decided to livestream it. A Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree is a doctoral program which means that an individual has an exclusive qualification in a specific field. Students in this field are expected to research and develop solutions for the problems currently facing the world through extensive research and experiments. Dimash is great!! • Thanks so much for reacting to this Justin! It's one of my favourite Dimash songs & gives me goosebumps every time I hear it - there's none of his vocal fireworks, just pure emotion & power. Because it's a Kazakh folk song about a tragic period in their history (see other comments for explanation) sung from the point of view of a young soldier not much older than him, Dimash puts so much feeling into it. In your own time pls also watch his live performance of it from the closing ceremony of the Silk Rd International Film Festival kzhead.info/sun/mqV6ctOMZJqVgYE/bejne.html , where you get more of his stage presence singing it, rather than the intimacy of the studio. The first time I saw it, I thought they'd put real calls of wolves onto the track at the beginning, but was amazed to realise the guy on the stringed instrument was doing it all! I still don't know how he could get so many different sounds from just 3 strings!! :D

  • From the beginning of this song you are drawn into the Kazakh landscape and the artist is Dimash. The indigenous instruments remind me of howling wolves and the wind. Dimash is the Song and the storyteller. I agree with you that there is no one who can compare with his vocalsLove everything he does with such such truth and purity. ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🇦🇺

  • The tool is called Kobyz. Kobyz is the ancestor of the violin. Two strings, imposed on the kobyz, are twisted from horse hair. The total length of the tool is 60-73 cm. The double Cup of the resonator reflects the tengrian worldview of the nomads-the creators of kobyz-in which the dawn and sunset are reflected, and in two strings-the top and bottom of the universe.

Aby zrozumieć Dimash trzeba słuchać go sercem
