At our recent REP supercar track day, we invited the new owner of Guy Martin's van to bring it along so we could have a proper look around it. It's now been converted to road spec and the attention to detail is stunning - a real credit to Guy and new owner Marcus.

I remember a few years ago, I was walking home. I heard a dump valve and a vehicle coming up behind me at some rate of knots. Turned around and it was a rusty 1990s transit. Turns out it was cosworth powered, like you said you'd never know 😂
Yeah I remember a car in swindon that was a 6R4 running gear in a poo brown metro city 100! That turned some heads!!

sabine doing a 10 in a stock transit is epic.. Sabine also did 7:30 in a taxi with 3 pasengers regularly, actually like clockwork.. If guy had more time that van with adjusted suspension and aero could do a 7 30 as well.

I guess you need a rain coat on to drive it in the wet and cleaning the interior after it rains should be interesting.

Total mismatch.. guy made his from a genuine ex work van in his home garage.. fords one had 2l years of development and millions of pounds poured into it, with carbon fibre and titanium construction, 4 wheel drive and 2000bhp.

Why are the black and white number plates illegal? Does the UK not have personalized plates?
The U.K. has a personalised plate option. But if a vehicle was first registered sometime after I think the early seventies it has to have reflective plates.

@@REPerformanceUK ANY vehicle being used on the road has to be fitted road legal registration plates. That includes motorway service areas or anywhere else that a vehicle is required to be road legal. Those plates are not road legal on a vehicle that age.

Still registered as a 2.2 Diesel, and since it's had the floor cut out of the monocoque, it's lost its Type Approval and VRM, and therefore needs a BIVA test before it goes on the road. So it's not in the slightest 'road legal'.

If you would be interested I can introduce you to a friend of mine that has raced at Nurburgring numerous times plus he has posted lap records at many tracks around, if you are interested in trying to post a world record in the van then let’s talk in private

So you want it to be road legal, and then put illegal black number plates on it which just serve to give the Police an excuse to stop you! And when you go to insure it and the person asks ,Are there any modifications?' how do you start that conversation?
It spoils the sleeper aspect of it, as well as the legal point you say. The standard spec plates would looks better IMO
Insurance would be straightforward through a specialist broker. If you're into modified and classic vehicles, there are plenty of brokers around who will insure things like this.

700hp is no longer a "monster" LOL, my Ram has had 940 since 2008 ...and its a daily driver that you can actually put stuff in the back.
