For me it feels like EA and lot of these figureheads have not got the memo, I still keep hearing how everything is amazing and NHL esport scene is growing. Unfotunately it's quite the opposite and it has been like that for years, getting only worse especially in Europe.
they need to get away from the one v one with ten skaters imo, no one wants to watch these guys exploit the ai which will always be a thing if they dont fully get away from it and just put 10 pros against each other
NHL felt a lot more competitive around NHL 12 then has slowly died down since then which is a shame, really hope they eventually bounce back eventually
They should open up online 2vs2. Or make lobbies for all leagues in europe. Make lobbies for all leagues u have in the game. Like if u wanna play spengler cup.. choose this lobby.. where u can play vs other who plays these. Play the DEL lobbie.. Open up all modes to invite friends online. They get together a co-op in f1 games. Why not in NHL. And the big studios are missing to think about the casual gamer. Its not alwayd about the e sports dudes. Its about us who are paying 80$ just to loose on eashl.. the same lame.mode and only chance to play online vs against others... the community online is so small...
It’s been a long and great run with you on top Eki. You’re arguably one of the only nice and respectable players at the top of the game. Ive played at the top of the esports scene for years now and you’re easily the most deserving. We notice the EU play style doesn’t matchup against the N.A. style for some reason and I don’t think it’s a lack of skill. Best of luck in the future my man.

Exactly. I jump into online games and when i come across people that rag and abuse the game mechanics I just leave. Like congrats you mastered cheesing but its not hockey. When i get someone who plays the game like its hockey its actually fun.

You need to come to the states for a year to play HUT and see how that goes. Your streams will absolutely double and I think you would be in a better place to win the championship again.

No matter what you decide I’m going to support you! Ur content is amazing and I’ve loved all of your hut videos. They’re one of my favourite things to watch on yt.
The game at the highest level is not fun. Eki flat out says there’s a problem with being able to keep possession. Yes it’s strategic of course you should do it if there’s money on the line to win but honestly other than scoring there’s nothing that’s really exciting. Used to be playing defence was rewarding, deking opponents felt good. Now you can clearly see the only way to score at highest level is to hold possession, get pressure and cross crease or cut to the middle for the far side. The games in a sad state.
I'll support you in whatever you do man. You have a kid on the way and you absolutely need to find a very stable way to get income, of course having fun while doing so if at all possible. Good luck with whatever is next :)

Ten years ago I was pretty sure GMC could've been the thing that made NHL games bigger, IRL team sponsored virtual teams, with a roster of for example three players per team, so no one player would have to play all 82 games. Three seasons a year, with cash rewards for IRL trophies. Could've been sweet. Thx for all the content Eki, and all the best.

"Hockey game - you cycle the puck for 15 mins, "pressure mechanic" skill buttons, hitting is harder but poke check and stick lift as easy as ever. EA devs are a fucking joke

It was nice to see that this year seemed to have a lot less glitch/cheese goals. It felt like last year the world finals were all like glitch wraps and stuff.

One thing what EA could add to the hut is the team creation to be under the salary cap would give better tournaments and they need to make AI a lot better especially on forecheck and defense now it feels like it's so easy to get around AI and helping kids to also play the game. Well they have the money to make competitive gamestyle on champs and tournaments but anything else they can just leave arcade it would mean much more when you really win someone on competitive gamestyle. This why I'm not playing hut never again after NHL 18 which was the last game that needed skill to win
Eki, you're a treasure to watch. Finishing in the Top 4 is an achievement. Sadly, word of mouth advertising feels like EA is slowly losing the NHL fans who love the competition side of this franchise, and that's disaster for the actual NHL as a league/ as a business when the gaming company (EA) you have pushing your brand is putting out 1.3 Google Audience Reviews due to the clunky, online lag, controller lag, etc gameplay. Lots of work needs to be done, but I feel the more content gamers post, the tougher the competitions get. There's a lot of great talent playing, which makes the grind tough to deal with every day of the week. Regs definitely found ways to capitalize far side/cross crease goals numerous times, but that's EA NHL as a whole. Eki, hopefully you take time away from EA NHL (F1 '24 coming soon), and once the EA NHL (pray 2K comes around) World Championships get closer, then pop back on and start building your team to the point you're satisfied with grinding for a chance to be in the Top 4. I'd hyperventilate if I was that fortunate. We can all learn from you as you're a genuine nice dude who plays passionately to win without degrading your opponents on video, through messages, etc. You're a class act, hopefully Lil' Eki watches you cook within a year. I think a lot of people would be on board if you were to focus on content creation. Maybe you could mentor or coach Esport players as a way to still kind of stay in the Esports scene whenever you decide to quit. Either way you make a fantastic content creator

I feel you bro. Ea had dropped the ball on real competitive play they only care about pushing out packs. They honestly can have something special but refuse to do it.
Give you alot of credits for your honesty. But is the gameplay not as bad as it gets.. they implements the fifa style.. where all just plays the best teams and keep holding the ball like forever... its not like that in hockey for sure. Its bad. Im not positive that ea will turn this around...

Ea’s gotta do a better job at making the game realistic or at the very least more fun it was more fun when full pressure was in and honestly more realistic. All that needed to be done was some way to prevent ragging because even though full pressure is gone it’s just as prevalent. Watching the way Regs plays makes my blood boil looks nothing like hockey irl. Ea failed this year 100%.
Until it’s 6v6 or 3v3 eashl this game will never be a esport.

the other difference is that the game (your defence) didn’t register anything. this game is so shit it’s not even funny. let’s say there was an nhl game with no bugs and good optimization. this game is way closer than you would think
