  • Yes, on the first part. But I don't use any treats and never have needed them to teach "heel" I subscribed anyway because you are almost a treat free trainer. At least you are offering options that don't involve treats and that is a step in the right direction. Nice video. Good luck with your channel.

    • Yes i agree, I mainly use treats when training puppies & when in a lower distraction environment first teaching lead pressure. Thanks for the support really appreciate it!

  • Its good advice but that dog was so attentive to you anyway even before you started walking. Your techniques are spot on but nobody who does these clips does them with aloof dogs. If I took my dogs into that field they would scan the view for prey and range and pay less attention to me. Ive two English Setters ( a stubborn mischeavous bread) and their prey drive is through the roof as feather or fur is fair game. Its really difficult and more difficult than any other dogs I have had. Collies, Springer and Labrador.

    • Yeah I do understand, thanks for the advice. I will try my best to show you a real life example in my future videos. Same thing goes however, it’s all just about persistence and staying calm in the moment your dog is dragging you around.

    • Start in lower distraction environments, master it with nothing going on then start to introduce distractions but slow and steady. Just because you can do it in your garden doesn’t mean you can then expect perfection when theres 10 dogs around in a dog park. Slow and steady, slowly increase distraction levels and trust me you will master it :)

    • Some would say from day one you want your dog to get used to it. Personally i don’t work on heel walking until after 6 months. You want your dog to understand the leash at a young age but you mainly want them explore the world & desensitise to as many things as possible.

  • Tried these with my little one. He just starts to run around me in circles like crazy or simply lays down or both. He doesn't like the changing of direction or pulling. Getting very frustrated

    • Yeah thats very common, best way to explain is your dog is having a little tantrum. Stick with it, stay calm and confident & use the lead pressure to keep them on one side & just carry on walking. Tire him out before hand and maybe just do 10mins in the garden to begin with. Best of luck, it’s not always a quick fix stay consistent and honestly results will speak for themselves with repetition. 👌🐾

  • High collaring could be somewhat dangerous if the handler/owner doesn't know how to use properly.
