Nightmare can destroy the Demon World, which is literally infinite in size and was created by Mundus just to kill Dante. Dante defeated it on multiple occasions and eventually killed it. Meaning Dante power scaling already goes beyond infinity and Vergil is Dante's literal equal and this way before they acquired their SIN DT forms. Urizen was stated to be far stronger than Mundus & Argosax, and Dante defeated him solo. When Vergil's human & demon half merged to become whole again, his power FAR exceeded that of Urizen's when he ate the Qliphoth fruit which is stated to Amp whoever with unbelievable power, which is how Mundus became ruler of the Underworld in the first place. So we're now talking about a Vergil who's 100% again with both human & demon halves, plus the power of the Qliphoth fruit Urizen ate prior to fusing inside of him, plus the power of Sparda & Yamato(which can transcend space and dimensions) and he gained access to SIN DT which transcends literally everything he was prior. Sephiroth is galaxy+ level at best, compared to Vergil who's multi-versal+ to infinity

If they rematch, I'm willing to put my money on Vergil. They were using DMC4 continuity Vergil, A supernova is a star level attack maybe Large Star which is High 4-C, Vergil scales far higher than Star Level even if you lowball him. So I definitely have a problem with him losing the way he did.

@@mbj-bu3qq Yeah the VS Battle Wiki one of the main sites for scaling fiction characters, kept nerfing the top tiers of DMC through Hell and back, I remember when it used to say DMC characters are 1-C (Comp Multi) or Low 1-C (Low Comp Multi), but now it says that cap at 2-C (Low Multiverse level). The DMC downplay go crazy, but that don't even matter. All I know is that I'm convinced Vergil probably should have won his Death Battle with Sephiroth.

I agree it would be a stomp for Vergil feat wise. Many were convinced Vergil could beat him in his DCM3 state. When you include DCM5 with his "Sin Devil Trigger," I'd argue he stomps Sephiroth. By the end of that game, there is no one stronger than him and Dante. They are literally the GOAT twins.

To be fair the death battle video was released in 2018 a year before dmc5 and we clearly see Vergil in that game is far more powerful, vergil has not only grown as a human, making his human stronger, but as a demon he ate the Qliphoth fruit, making his demon half also way more powerful. DMC 5 is the strongest we've ever seen Vergil.

If I understand the new DMC scaling meta, I’m pretty sure it’s just the souls that scale to 9D or 10D. I don’t think anyone conclusively damages a soul via AP. There are enemies capable of erasing them from existence, but that is probably via hax since we don’t see more powerful characters attempt to do that. This would translate to Vergil probably having 9D or 10D soul and existence erasure hax resistance, but it doesn’t necessarily translate to higher dimensional speed, AP, durability, or his own hax.

As far as I’ve seen the 9D scaling comes from a Chinese mobile game loading screen about how the nature of the soul is 9D and then using that guide in conjunction with enemies like Arachne who are a type of demon described as “once being a human soul.” That doesn’t necessarily mean that Arachne continues to be 9D.

I love Sephiroth and has been one of my legendary childhood characters for many years. One of my favorite villains hands down I’ve only played DMC4 and Vergil wasn’t even there. I’m a huge FF7 fan and always have been But after seeing DMC5 - I’d have to say Vergil takes this Hate to admit it - DMC5 Dante and Vergil are pretty broken at this point

Most people don’t seem to take in account things like the lights novels , Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne or the Lore in general. We have the sword of Yamato that literally created two separate universe by splitting the original dark void world “the original underworld “ in two - we have the beast heads that can somehow alter the pass and present but Dante say fuck you to that too . Or characters like Mundus , Pluto or Argoxas - all 3 characters compared to each other and all 3 are just reality bending monsters . Funny thing , Vergil still above all of them currently

We have never seen sephiroth at full strength. Each time was either a familiar or at the end when the team stopped him from fully generating his body. Yes cloud impaired him during the flashback ....but he wasn't paying attention to him.

Imma say before watching this video. I’m a huge fan of both characters. I think Virgil can beat some versions of sephiroth. No matter which version I don’t see Sephiroth walking away with an easy win. Win or lose Vergil would put up a very good fight

I just don't see Vergil beating Sephiroth. The guy has been shown to be powerful enough to shatter galaxies with his limit break in FF7 and even if that wasn't enough Dissidia Sephiroth is strong enough to defeat Feral Chaos (as you complete his story through the arcade mode) and Feral Chaos is the strongest version of the deity next to Shinryu himself and I'm pretty sure Feral Chaos is multiversal+ level in terms of raw power. I doubt Vergil would be able to beat Feral Chaos like Sephiroth can in his arcade ending for the game. I like Vergil and all that but I don't see him out scaling Sephiroth.

I hear what you're saying, but Vergil has power scaling that goes beyond Infinity. Like literally him and Dante are the two strongest beings in their verse. Far outscaling Mundus & Argosax who were both rulers of the Demon World, and the Demon World was stated to literally be infinite in size. The demon, Nightmare, the familiar V controls, is stated that he CAN destroy the demon world all by itself, meaning he can destroy a world of infinite size and Dante + Vergil by themselves both outclass every demon to date. So Vergil's power is beyond multiversal

I’m gonna be a shonen protagonist and then he forgot everybody he knows, and every friend he has is a horrible person and a complete asshole who is taking advantage and using him for there own sephiroth starts you know doing things like letting other people take missions helping out their sound and everyone just constantly fucking betrays him. I do not like DMC and Vergil scaling anymore. I think alot of fans in that verse tend to be up there with Archie Sonic and DBZ in regards to wank and toxicity. Not that they are ‘equal’ but ‘similar’. And I used to love scaling JRPG characters, but I had an epiphany as a writer that scaling them is hard. Most of the time, it is always one feat or statement near the end that begins the scaling tree. It is often usually a main villain doing a cataclysmic feat and we just consider it at face value and move on. If I ever do my own RPG, I think it should be more consistent, more feat oriented. I don’t like the false dichotomy some rare fans say “But jrpgs are focused on narrative more and you can’t scale feats outside the narrative!” Which is kind if true, but also not really. The only JRPG verse which seems to hold to its feat consistency is probably SMT. Not Persona, that is a whole can of worms. Anyway, I am going to listen to this with a grain of salt for the ad revenue, but that is my take. I am disillusioned with both sides as powerscaling aside, I love both multiverses. I just…hate powerscaling them. Edit: Also JRPG scalers can be kind of wanky and toxic in their own way from my own anecdotes, but I don’t see this as a pissing contest. I just don’t like scaling both is the point.

@@DocGoon Just finished the video, It was half refreshing. If I didn’t have a migraine I would probably try to lay out arguments but I am hurty. So, I will just suggest a video on Vergil and DMC scaling as a whole. I will add it is a complex universe to scale, so I think a full, holistic approach would be nice. I like Sephiroth and Final Fantasy more, but I think alot of the lore and narrative does the scaling heavy lifting. DMC is more cinematic, subtle and often confusing, sort of like a Souls Game. I think that is the universe that needs more attention. It was a good video, clicked the like button and I wish you the best on your path!

I just hate power-scaling in general since it assumes that characters who have beaten "galaxy" level bosses are considered as powerful as "galaxy" level bosses, which isn't the case. If I go out and kill a dragon with a sword, does that make me as strong as said dragon? I really don't think so. It just means my combative achievements include taking down a dragon, which is what power-scaling should be.

It was literrally distorted with visuals just like mirror dimension missions. Portal to Earth was warping the planet of DMC which is even much smaller than real life Earth. MCU Scarlet Witch maybe created the town sized hex or was threat to destroy universe by causing dreamwalk but that doesn't guaranteed her to be super durable to resist white vision's delicated head smash. Same with sinister Doctor Strange who caused incursion of own universe, but none of that provided him immunity from being impaled by metal pillar.

This is what Sephiroth has against Vergil - death spell - incinerate him with supernova - mind hax, soul hax, regen hax with various materia - being faster, stronger and more powerful via actual demonstrated feats. - has better immortality - time travel, dimensional travel etc - dmc5 does not change the outcome of this fight. -Sephiroth could incapacitate with mental attacks so he wouldn't be able to escape Spehiroth's allusions property.

This is what vergil has over sephiroth: - power of the qliphoth fruit - soul, time, space, and dimensional manipulation - dimensionality (scales higher than mundus, who transcends dimensionality and time) - speed (massively faster than pluto, who can bypass and break the time axis itself with his sheer speed alone) - strength (massively stronger than nightmare and mundus) - weapons (yamato, beowulf and his own soul) - can create a doppelgänger of his sin devil trigger, means sephiroth has to fight against 2 Vergil’s - immortality (while in his devil trigger) - can destroy powerful illusions just by existing - create illusion (via qliphoth fruit) - can create and corrupt new demons (angelo knights) - enhanced senses (superior to dmc2 novel dante, who can sense dangers across the entire demon world)

If they rematch, I'm willing to put my money on Vergil. They were using DMC4 continuity Vergil, A supernova is a star level attack maybe Large Star which is High 4-C, Vergil scales far higher than Star Level even if you lowball him. So I definitely have a problem with him losing the way he did.

The DMC downplay go crazy, but that don't even matter. All I know is that I'm convinced Vergil probably should have won his Death Battle with Sephiroth.

I love to see new takes on popular vs. Battles like this it's like remastering an old but gold game and making it even better.
I agree it would be a stomp for Vergil feat wise. Many were convinced Vergil could beat him in his DCM3 state. When you include DCM5 with his "Sin Devil Trigger," I'd argue he stomps Sephiroth. By the end of that game, there is no one stronger than him and Dante. They are literally the GOAT twins.
So Vergil gets a new game and now it's a stomp, meanwhile Sephiroths story is still being told through the remake games and we cant wait for those to finish?

To be fair the death battle video was released in 2018 a year before dmc5 and we clearly see Vergil in that game is far more powerful, vergil has not only grown as a human, making his human stronger, but as a demon he ate the Qliphoth fruit, making his demon half also way more powerful. DMC 5 is the strongest we've ever seen Vergil.
If I understand the new DMC scaling meta, I’m pretty sure it’s just the souls that scale to 9D or 10D. I don’t think anyone conclusively damages a soul via AP. There are enemies capable of erasing them from existence, but that is probably via hax since we don’t see more powerful characters attempt to do that. This would translate to Vergil probably having 9D or 10D soul and existence erasure hax resistance, but it doesn’t necessarily translate to higher dimensional speed, AP, durability, or his own hax.

As far as I’ve seen the 9D scaling comes from a Chinese mobile game loading screen about how the nature of the soul is 9D and then using that guide in conjunction with enemies like Arachne who are a type of demon described as “once being a human soul.” That doesn’t necessarily mean that Arachne continues to be 9D.

I love Sephiroth and has been one of my legendary childhood characters for many years. One of my favorite villains hands down I’ve only played DMC4 and Vergil wasn’t even there. I’m a huge FF7 fan and always have been But after seeing DMC5 - I’d have to say Vergil takes this Hate to admit it - DMC5 Dante and Vergil are pretty broken at this point

Most people don’t seem to take in account things like the lights novels , Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne or the Lore in general. We have the sword of Yamato that literally created two separate universe by splitting the original dark void world “the original underworld “ in two - we have the beast heads that can somehow alter the pass and present but Dante say fuck you to that too . Or characters like Mundus , Pluto or Argoxas - all 3 characters compared to each other and all 3 are just reality bending monsters . Funny thing , Vergil still above all of them currently

We have never seen sephiroth at full strength. Each time was either a familiar or at the end when the team stopped him from fully generating his body. Yes cloud impaired him during the flashback ....but he wasn't paying attention to him.
Imma say before watching this video. I’m a huge fan of both characters. I think Virgil can beat some versions of sephiroth. No matter which version I don’t see Sephiroth walking away with an easy win. Win or lose Vergil would put up a very good fight

I just don't see Vergil beating Sephiroth. The guy has been shown to be powerful enough to shatter galaxies with his limit break in FF7 and even if that wasn't enough Dissidia Sephiroth is strong enough to defeat Feral Chaos (as you complete his story through the arcade mode) and Feral Chaos is the strongest version of the deity next to Shinryu himself and I'm pretty sure Feral Chaos is multiversal+ level in terms of raw power. I doubt Vergil would be able to beat Feral Chaos like Sephiroth can in his arcade ending for the game. I like Vergil and all that but I don't see him out scaling Sephiroth.

I hear what you're saying, but Vergil has power scaling that goes beyond Infinity. Like literally him and Dante are the two strongest beings in their verse. Far outscaling Mundus & Argosax who were both rulers of the Demon World, and the Demon World was stated to literally be infinite in size. The demon, Nightmare, the familiar V controls, is stated that he CAN destroy the demon world all by itself, meaning he can destroy a world of infinite size and Dante + Vergil by themselves both outclass every demon to date. So Vergil's power is beyond multiversal
not to mention Vergil's Judgment Cut End, which we all should know, SLICES THROUGH DIMENSIONS. So just imagined what a SIN Devil Trigger Virgil JCE is doing to Sephiroth's limit break that's galaxy level at best.

I do not like DMC and Vergil scaling anymore. I think alot of fans in that verse tend to be up there with Archie Sonic and DBZ in regards to wank and toxicity. Not that they are ‘equal’ but ‘similar’. And I used to love scaling JRPG characters, but I had an epiphany as a writer that scaling them is hard. Most of the time, it is always one feat or statement near the end that begins the scaling tree. It is often usually a main villain doing a cataclysmic feat and we just consider it at face value and move on. If I ever do my own RPG, I think it should be more consistent, more feat oriented. I don’t like the false dichotomy some rare fans say “But jrpgs are focused on narrative more and you can’t scale feats outside the narrative!” Which is kind if true, but also not really. The only JRPG verse which seems to hold to its feat consistency is probably SMT. Not Persona, that is a whole can of worms. Anyway, I am going to listen to this with a grain of salt for the ad revenue, but that is my take. I am disillusioned with both sides as powerscaling aside, I love both multiverses. I just…hate powerscaling them. Edit: Also JRPG scalers can be kind of wanky and toxic in their own way from my own anecdotes, but I don’t see this as a pissing contest. I just don’t like scaling both is the point.

So, I will just suggest a video on Vergil and DMC scaling as a whole. I will add it is a complex universe to scale, so I think a full, holistic approach would be nice. I like Sephiroth and Final Fantasy more, but I think alot of the lore and narrative does the scaling heavy lifting. DMC is more cinematic, subtle and often confusing, sort of like a Souls Game. I think that is the universe that needs more attention. It was a good video, clicked the like button and I wish you the best on your path!

I just hate power-scaling in general since it assumes that characters who have beaten "galaxy" level bosses are considered as powerful as "galaxy" level bosses, which isn't the case. If I go out and kill a dragon with a sword, does that make me as strong as said dragon? I really don't think so. It just means my combative achievements include taking down a dragon, which is what power-scaling should be.

This is what Sephiroth has against Vergil - death spell - incinerate him with supernova - mind hax, soul hax, regen hax with various materia - being faster, stronger and more powerful via actual demonstrated feats. - has better immortality - time travel, dimensional travel etc - dmc5 does not change the outcome of this fight. -Sephiroth could incapacitate with mental attacks so he wouldn't be able to escape Spehiroth's allusions property.
