  • This tier list is a meme, it's just what I like to play. Every job in this game is very good. If you're new to the game play whatever job you think looks cool! While recording this, I also learned how hard it is to try to do the opener on every single job while trying to articulate your thoughts. I know I messed up pretty much all of them and forgot some stuff, but hopefully it gives you an idea of how the jobs look and work! ❤

    • @@Schwakamonk is my love since day one of ARR, but after a good long break, the rotation is so completely confusing to me. I cannot seem to pump out the DPS like I should be able to. Lately I find myself being drawn more to tank and healers. Their rotations are more forgiving for the most part, but they're also more difficult for completely different reasons (especially healers)

  • PLD is my favourite tank. All the changes that it went through during EW were so good, very good improvements to damage and quality of life. Even from a healer PoV I love when the MT is a PLD because they don't need to go super low HP in order to provide value to their kit, they have superb mitigation and decent self-healing while at the same time the best invuln because Hallowed Ground doesn't have any kind of weird gimmick or anything, just a "press to stop receiving damage" button and thats it. PLD is a very solid straightforward tank.

    @BaghNakh1@BaghNakh1Ай бұрын
    • Yeah PLD in shb always wanted to OT, But EW 6.3 PLD being a main tank I think is actually genuinely really powerful, Boss positioning aside (as that generally comes up less), It's self healing on single target is honestly on par with warrior It's absurdly strong not even "decent" imo, being able to hold two holy sheltrons for flexibility or double tank busters, It's general strong built in mitigation (even 30% chance block rate makes it take slightly less damage on average autos). DV + Bulwark changes/added back also make it so you don't lose out on tankyness other tanks had in the past. I think I still see a lot of PLD's scared to MT because of how old PLD used to avoid it, but it's actually a really good option.

      @Lunamagic-op8yp@Lunamagic-op8ypАй бұрын
    • Ehh, hallowed ground is the worst invuln, just because of its extremely long cooldown. All of the other tanks’ gimmicks can be forgiven because they are easy to deal with (aside from dark knight which actually is super broken, as the invuln’s timer is basically reset and it can give itself a full heal).

      @yassin9782@yassin978225 күн бұрын
    • @@yassin9782 I disagree. The long cooldown can be forgiven because it has no gimmick, nothing can go wrong when you use Hallowed Ground, you just press button to stop receiving damage and thats it, you don't even need to pre-coordinate or expect your healer understanding how your invuln works. You have complete full control of the situation which is perfect.

      @BaghNakh1@BaghNakh125 күн бұрын
    • @@BaghNakh1actually Hallowed Ground IS the worst invuln. Not only does it have a long cooldown meaning you o;oh get one use - you also still take damage until the animation is finished which means you also don’t get the full 10s. The best cooldown is actually drks imo because it can pop way in advance of when you need it and can heal themselves back to full provided there isn’t downtime or anything to stop them attacking which a healer can fix easily. From a paladin main

      @ShrimplessScampi@ShrimplessScampiАй бұрын
    • @@ShrimplessScampi yup it's great to have set up the hud and figured out what all the options are, so as things pop up or I notice things being in the way I can fine tune. And I agree it's crazy how I haven't seen any other games come close to the cross hotbar versatility. It seems like it might be complicated or confusing but really in a game like dragons dogma if they just added like one extra button or double tap feature they could double the amount of abilities you can use. Everyone is used to just having one control for each button and limiting gameplay to that

  • Bard main here, and I love the approach you take to the job! Refreshing dots at the same time as you swap songs is not the most optimized way to play the job, but it's a great starting point while you're getting used to how it works and does the job in all casual content. I worry a lot of the perceived difficulty comes from guides expecting players to snapshot (applying dots when all the buffs are active) and optimize song rotation from the start, which makes the rotation far more complicated, and imo should not be required until you start getting into Extreme or Savage content.

I think Reaper is cool but it's just soooo simple, and the character I am currently working on is Ninja (lvl 89, so close to Raijin Ready!..) and it's a blast. Daunting at first, but after successfully setting up an opener it just sinks its hooks in and it has that level of depth that I was originally worried about FFXIV lacking. Thank you. Fun to hear someone so articulately explore the nuances of each job. Ninja is my fave melee and MAY become actual main. DRG is PHENOMENAL. Actually playing BRD as I listen to you, right now. RDM is 'officially' my main atm. BLM COULD be my number 1 favourite because of the complexity. DRK has that sword and Blackest Night. AST and its complexity attract me significantly. Thx if you read all that.

  • All my jobs are lined up at the end, and are pretty close to your ranking as well. I've recently leveled RDM, and here is my list from best to worst of my 6 jobs: 1. RDM. I love the mobility and ranged/melee hybrid aspect; being able to rez/heal and have a sword is the cherry on top. 2. Sage. As you said, the only healer with a gap closer. I love Eukrasia since it adds mobility + variety + faster GCD when activated. 3. Reaper. The aesthetic is one thing, but the transformation + fast GCD is freaking awesome. Also, the teleporting is nice. My main peeve here is the 30 sec debuff...it ruins the flow for me and seems redundant. : \ 4. Scholar. This was my first job. Having a fairie help me heal seemed really nice, and it was...but once I started healing Zot and barely keeping my tanks alive, I decided to try Sage and ended up liking it waaay more. 5. Samurai. This was my main after Scholar. After they changes Samurai with the cone AoE and got rid of Kaiten...all the small problems I had came to light. Worst gap closer and no disengage. Thematically I *love* samurai, but unfortunately I'm sad that it feels like they ruined it. 6. Summoner. It's really nice at first, because it's like "oh wow it's so easy to do lots of damage," but then...yeah it gets boring. That said, if I didn't try summoner I'd have never leveled a Red Mage. I was looking for a new job, since none of my current ones really gripped me anymore. I thought "I wish summoner and samurai could be combined and given some mobility..." yeah, literally exactly what RDM is. :D Anyways, that's my wall of text. Good vid (although I admit to skipping ones I don't play or am not too interested in.)

  • Nice to see Bard getting S tier. Considering how many people seem to dislike the job, I was afraid you'd be one of them. I am also a musician in real life so I gravitated toward Bard. I actually started as White Mage and mained that until the end of Endwalker. Then once the main story was done, I switched to Bard as a new main (primarily because I just didn't enjoy how healers work in this game, which is basically just DPS with extra responsibilities). And I have a lot of fun with Bard. Also, I can't stand all the Bard bands you occasionally see. When you play in a real band, the musicians need to be tight and play in sync. The bands you see throughout FFXIV are never in sync because of the delay with the game and it makes their music just sound bad. I do wish Bard would lean into the music aspect a bit more than it does, though.

It felt a lot like Bard (my favorite DPS by far) and was overall just very unique with how the DoTs played into the kit... I don't really enjoy it the same way that I did since it got reworked in Endwalker. Maybe there's a middle ground between the DoT mage that it used to be and the "mage" that it currently is? • As a tank player it feels like: - Warrior: You just want a tank class. Necessary minimum of mechanics, pure fun of having Fell CLEAVE! Can't ever go wrong with this class. Best MT out there. - Paladin: Swiss knife of a tanks. (somewhat) flexible rotation, good package of party utility. Needs some time to get used to. Solid MT and OT. 2nd best tank glamour class. - Gunbreaker: You are a DPS player, but your party need that last slot as a tank. Flashy skills (Gnashing fang and Double down have my respect). But, because of cartriges suffers when there is downtime or he needs to move boss somewhere. Great OT, terrible MT. - Dark Knight: Every game's edge boys. Kind of mix of PLD and WAR. Skills look good, sword swings actually FEEL like you carry two-handed monster in your arms (unlike a lot of games). In right hands can do burst on par with equally geared DPS. Has the best small mitigation in the game, it's so good that my co-tank when geared in BiS don't even use it on 1st/2nd encounter reclear because boss' damage isn't enough to break it which leads to dps loss. Good at both MT and OT.

  • 1. DRK main here , kind of a newb tho lol, but I 100% agree that the rotation is somehow both really busy, but simple at the same time. The whole playstyle is basically just you accumulating resources so you can go ham during your damage windows ( Which is what ultimately makes the class such a popular off-tank option , since during those short damage windows your output is comparable to some DPS classes. Hence the nickname "Blue DPS" XD ) 2. I also really like *Samurai's* gameplay. Its suprisingly easy to learn once you put in a bit of time into it and learn all the variations you have access to. The timing on the casts is also the most fun part personally, as you really need to have the timing of your actions down pat to keep up your flow. The class is definetly a glass cannon tho.

      @TheArnoldification@TheArnoldificationАй бұрын
    • @@TheArnoldification The whole 'macros don't queue' thing is about not clipping your gcds. Dragon Sight is ogcd and does not slow down your rotation at all if you macro it. Go nuts.

  • So, I started out Dragoon, then picked up Dark Knight, because those are my two favourite FF Job-classes. Then in Shadowbringers I found the Role Quests and decided I wanted to do them all. So now I've gotten Red Mage up to the high 70s and my next goal is to level up Sage. I hear that Endwalker splits the Phys. Dps into Melee and Ranged, so I'll probably grind up Bard for that one.

  • Never saw ninja using so many ninjutsu so fast. But, you had go more into the con-side of the ninja. The mudra are a nice idea. At the samer time are they the biggest weakness of the ninja. It can happen very easily, that the system didnt recogniced a button corectly, and create a error, because of that (the bunny hat). That mean, that you can not use the mudra for 30 sec, and you losed some dmg, because of that. Or are going out of your flow.

  • I like your chill, conversational style. Glad I found your channel. As a ninja main, I'm biased playstyle wise and agree with most of the list. The only difference is I enjoy dancer as my "head empty, no thoughts" mode. The play rhythm feels like ninja with slow filler, fast burst, but just overall simpler/easier. I also like rng to a degree. Which is why AST is the only healer I play at this point--fast, more thinking, and rng. I just hope the DT rework doesn't go the way of SMN.

  • I've been playing Samurai as my main since late SB/early Shb so it's always interesting to hear an outsider's perspective on the job I've spent thousands of hours on, lol. I wish there was slightly more class variation in this game, but as it stands, I like that we can still have our personal tastes and disagreements over core job mechanics and identity, because casting is what *makes* Samurai for me. I think it feels incredible to get a perfect burst window with Sam because it just feels so chunky and good. But of course, it's not for everyone!

  • As a bard main, my complaint about dot upkeep and job difficulty is the fact that the dots have to take up two GCDs to be initially applied, or reapplied if the boss has an intangible period, and the fact that I have a harder time paying attention to the fight since I have to play with my eyes on my hot bars for most everything I still love it nonetheless though
