CONCEALER BEFORE OR AFTER FOUNDATION? | NINA UBHI
Should you apply concealer before or after foundation? In this video I'll show you why I apply concealer BEFORE foundation! I'll show you one side of my face with concealer before foundation and the other side with concealer after foundation. I'll be using the same concealer and foundation on both sides to make it fair.
In this video I'll show you how to apply concealer before and after foundation on both sides of my face and also break it down for you in an easy step by step application method. I will talk through the benefits of both sides so you can choose which you prefer for yourself. I'll also test both sides by going out to see how each side holds up by the evening!

I am 57 and we always put concealer on before foundation in high school, college +++++. So I'm not sure who started doing it the other way around, but it always seems so strange to me to put concealer on over foundation. FINALLY someone confirming that I am not crazy!!!
Exactly!!!!! I’ve always put concealer on 1st, (the point is to “hide” blemishes & dark circles, or whatever) -then follow up with the foundation. It’s been done like that for years! (But of course, someone always tries to change the norm. Do you. However you want to do it) I’ll continue to do it the CORRECT WAY. ✌🏼💋

I’ve heard many people say you should put concealer on top of foundation (even some MUA I talk to also say the same thing), but I’ve always thought that it makes more sense to conceal FIRST and then put on the layers you want to do because that’s what concealers do - they conceal! After watching your video, I’m 100% convinced that concealer is best under foundation. I’m 40 this year and finally going to really get serious into make up and your videos help me tremendously!

How am i gonna do concealer first when i aply my foundation with a foundation brush? Do i just go over the concealer? And my other question.. I always like to do differant styles of eye shadow and i used to make the lines on the side sharp with my concealer. Im affraid that when i do concealer first that i wont get that same result with my eyeshadow, and also there's always falling eyeshadow on my face and under my eye that i used to work away with concealer. I rlly wanna try this concealer first thing,so i hope that some one can help me out with these questions.

I've always put concealer on first and its always worked best for me, with that being said, everyone's skin is different and there are several ways to do makeup like this beautiful lady has said😉 Do what works for you 🙂

It only makes sense to put the concealer, (hiding cream which comes in a few colors), under the foundation, (face color which is available in a vast array of skin colors). You are absolutely. I've been doing it your way for years! Thank you for the confirmation! You rock!

I"ve been putting the concealer under since way back. The concealer over never seems to blend. I get it either too little and the dark circles or too much concealer and look like a zombie negative. Under works best for me.
Honestly, I have always put concealer on first... just makes sense to address evening the overall tone first.
Concealer under foundation is our old school way. It works better for those of us with raccoon eyes.

So glad to find your channel. I have always placed my concealer underneath my foundation. Never made sense to me to put it on top. I tried concealer on top the other day just to see what it looked like. Could definitely see a difference in how my makeup lasted and in the brightness. Will continue wearing my foundation on top of my concealer.

I am almost 50 and fortunately, my skin looks 35, with this technique everything blended well and set amazing. My fine lines were practically invisible.
I have to admit that applying concealer first gives my face a more seamless look. Didn’t think that I would like it so I forced myself first by using this technique with the fenty powder foundation prior to doing so with a liquid foundation and I love this technique. Love your channel.

Hi Nina I have never applied foundation under the eyes, only concealer as I always felt it might be too much. However, I do apply concealer prior to applying foundation on the face. I often see many girls with so much concealer/foundation under their eyes and extremely lighter shades and looks awful in pictures. Your side of the setting looks amazing, so thank you for this. ♥️
The biggest difference I see is when you put concealer on first your eyes look brighter and your bronzer makes your face look more cut/defined. I am still learning about foundations and base makeup. I have discoloration from hormones during pregnancies and not wearing SPF religiously during my teens and 20s. All advice is helpful and appreciated. But, I agree with your technique of concealer 1st. I am going to start trying that. Especially at work where I run around and sweat all day, lol.
I agree with you. The side you did the way you normally do looked so much better. Around your eyes looked more bright than the other side. The other side, by the end of the day the darkness under your eye was nore noticeable. I really like how clean, well blended and sculpted the side you did the way you like to do turned out over the whole day. It looked great the whole day. I can definitely tell a difference and can see the brightness under your eyes (concealer on first) opposed to the other side. It is hard to tell a difference between the 2, but if you look close you can tell the side with the concealer first does look more flawless than the other.

I searched for applying foundation over concealer because somewhere the reverse trend was putting me in doubt and since when i watched you applying it in the correct way i started to notice celebrities also, they get soft finish also very well concealed and contoured. Love you 😘

I loved this video! It is very helpful. I have always, always put concealer under foundation. The concealer is for concealing, in my opinion, it’s not meant to be seen, hence the name, it’s meant to conceal (hide) any flaws in the skin “before” you lay on your foundation. Covering foundation with a concealer doesn’t make any sense to me. To me the names of the products tell you exactly what they are for. Yes, foundation goes on first if you have perfect skin ( but no one does) and don’t need to hide anything first. But if you do need to hide “aka” “conceal” flaws, then you apply concealer over them first, then you apply foundation over that. Why would you want to “conceal” your foundation? The concealer is made to cover up, the foundation is meant to give you that beautiful blend of natural dewy color. Thank you for the great tutorial! I love your contouring techniques too!

ABSOLUTELY Agree with you. Never could understand why people were putting concealer On Top of their foundation, just made No sense to me, and have done it my way. The painting a Wall analagy is pefect way to explain it ! 👌💕
I was watching this whilst doing my makeup and initially i did prefer the concealer on top of foundation, but when Nina came back after been outside, i totally changed my mind! In fact, I wanted to wipe and redo my makeup the other way!

I tried using concealer years ago but between probably not using the right color and putting it on after my foundation it really didn't work. For about one week now I have been watching make up videos because I no longer look natural young, so I am needing to hide age spot, bags and marks on my face. I found concealer and foundation. Honestly I thought they were the same thing. But now I see. And I can see the side with the concealer under the foundation shows the bottom of the eyes brighter which I like very much. I’m pretty sure you were the MUA who taught me to do concealer then foundation. Before that technique, I was frustrated by how concealer looked on my skin after foundation and I certainly didn’t know how to get my makeup to set to last all day. After your techniques?
