  • This time of year I'm actually outside more than I am in the summer. I love cool crisp and cold weather and I hate hot muggy weather. Autumn is my favorite time of year and all the fall and winter sabbots are my favorite ones. This time of year is also when I go hiking the most and do all the major yard work that I put off all summer.

  • I like that you're cleansing with rosemary! Easily accessible, affordable, dries well, and you can even grow it yourself if you want if you're so inclined. (Rosemary grows like crazy, so you'll always have a bunch!)

    • Yup, and it's actually beneficial to regularly trim rosemary, so clipping a bit for your magickal practice is just part of taking care of the plant!

    • I'm so jealous. I have tried growing rosemary outside (it never winters over in my area) and I always kill it as an indoor plant. I want to grow rosemary so bad.

  • Hey Hearth, 👋 here in the US we call conkers "buckeyes". It's the state tree of Ohio. The Ohio State University has a man with a giant "conker" as a head for their mascot. His name is Brutus Buckeye. 🤣🤣🤣 Just a little trivia for you. Have a beautiful day everyone. 🤍🍂🍁🎃

  • We live in a farming community with a big apple orchard so Mabon is the biggest festival for us. Everyone is out for pretty much all of September gathering apples and other crops. We have a huge feast and eat outside if the weather is nice and press fresh apple cider to drink before the rest is brewed. There is a corn maze and decorations all over and the children have a treasure hunt to find the hidden golden pumpkin. Autumn is the busiest time of the year for us so Mabon is a chance to rest and celebrate and dance and give thanks before we have to get back to preparing all the crops for winter. We actually have a well with an old statue of Modran on it

  • I'm setting up my first altar for one of the sabbats, and I'm so happy Mabon is the one I'm starting with! I love autumn, from the weather to the colors. My candles are scentless LEDs for the safety of my cats, and for food I'm making caramel apples!

  • Mabon was the first holiday I celebrated so it became my favorite but it also became my saddest holiday. My guinea pigs had recently died and I celebrated in the broomcloset alone with them at their graves. Now even though I do. Celebrate samhain and Yule with my close family I still celebrate mabon with my passed pets.

  • I actually love Mabon! Celebrating autumn and the harvest and just being thankful. It's a very cosy Sabbat and I always look forward to it. I love Samhain too, but that's more spooky and reflective, whereas Mabon is joyous feasting and simply enjoying the new season ☺️

  • I agree that your practice changes, but the way it shifts and the timing of the shift depends on where you live. For example, here in California, it's finally cool enough to take walks in the middle of the day (instead of cramming it in the early morning). However, autumn also marks the start of the wildfire season, so once that fully kicks in, we'll be hunkering back down in our rooms to avoid the smoke and ash. And definitely no rain!

  • I just dyed my hair bright orange, I’m so glad I got it in time for Mabon! This year my boyfriend and I have a wicker cornucopia and while we don’t feel comfortable using fresh fruits and veg for it, we have some fake ones! We’re planning on setting the cornucopia up on our dining room table! Any ideas on how to keep out cat from messing with it? Love your videos!

    • If you have some lemon furniture polish or orange oil trying rubbing a bit near your cornucopia on the table. Cats usually don’t like the smell of citrus and will avoid the area. It is safe for them as long as you aren’t chucking buckets of it around.

  • Mabon will always be hugely important to me as it was the first sabbat following my proper and true discovery of paganism. I must admit though that in the last couple of years I have shamefully neglected it mainly due to illness but plan to honour this sabbat in some form this year. Samhain is without a doubt the be all and end all for me and a huge number of others too so I can see where people will dismiss Mabon in preparation or excitement of Samhain. It's a shame as it is a really beautiful and actually more melancholic time I feel.

  • I am working on my mabon altar. I already switched out the crystals and I’m collecting acorns, I’ll get some apples, and decorate with those. I have a major disease so I never know if I’ll be well that day but if I am, I’m going to harvest all the herbs I grew and dry them :) a simple walk in the evening would also be nice after a nice dinner.

  • Thanks for your video. I love your reminder that every book is a good one 🖤 📚 I’ve got my altar set up, I’ve made an apple pie, I always do a divination on the day OF the sabbat, and then journaling always... my home has been decorated with pumpkins, fall leaves, and cinnamon and spices as well as candles and essential oils. It’s perfect for Mabon. One Mabon outing I like to do every year is attend the Apple Hill festival in my area. The apple farmers allow various crafters/vendors to come on their farm and sell their goods and wares. I always like to find some hand made Yule gifts there. 🍏 🍎 🍁

  • I think Mabon is one of my favourite times to celebrate ❤ I never had a seasonal altar because of cats and dogs being around the house but I think I just figured out a spot that’s safe for them and good for me! So I’ll give that a go ☺️ I’ll also try and go out and pick some sticks and straw and wheat and do a lil wreath - that’s ambitious for me as I end up not often following up on this ideas but I’ll try 😊😊 Thank you for the video 🧡

  • This will be my first celebration. I have no idea what would be best to do. I got a bottle of wine from my dad. I thought I could leave libations for each of the trees in our yard, leave some apples and seeds for the birds and squirrels as a thank you to them. I was going to write down some gratitudes. I plan to go for a walk. I live in the city, but I thought I'd look for fallen leaves, pinecones with which to decorate. If I find some sticks I thought I'd make a small ritual broom for clearing away negativity. I spent all day today cleaning my room. Tomorrow I will clean my sister's room. I don't have anything to burn, but I put some orange essential oil in the water I was cleaning with. I hope that was a good choice. I'm completely new to this but I wish to learn more. Thank you for the video.

  • Getting all those last minute apple trees in and perennials for spring. Spreading seeds from all the heirlooms I have planted in spring. Hard work that makes you sweat is perfect for when the weather turns a bit cooler. All those tasks that can be a bit more challanging do a bit better with the help of the spirits ect... Pumpkin muffins with heavy spices are my go to for the fall... on the verge of winter I love bread baking. Oven is on most of the day warming the house ect throught out the day. Work with the amazing new gifts coming in. Working with elements rather than despite them or against them. Scorpio stellium so this is my favorite time of year. The culmination of all the hard work and lessons learned and cuddling up with contentment and beauty of death of old making the way for the new.

I associate as an eclectic green witch I naturally ground when working in my garden and with my plants - indoor or outdoor, but I live in a region that gets very hot in the summer - so I will do more in the kitchen, thus I associate with a kitchen witch during this time as I'm cooking new recipes or working more with my herbalism - which can fall under either category. Blessed Be!

We are going to have a Harvest Dinner (a Friendsgiving, if you will) every year at Mabon instead! This will be our first year! Going to celebrate with our Soul Family to pay homage to all of the blessings and good fortune, as well as lessons learned in the past year. Looking forward to this instituting this new tradition. • I don’t know if this makes any sense; but around this time of year I go into “stealth mode” both astrally, and physically. I always notice around now people are usually startled by my nearness because they didn’t see or hear me coming around the corner or down the hall etc, so I often find I frighten my coworkers and customers, which always makes me giggle because I don’t mean to frighten them. I’m just on such a heightened protective mode that I sort of “forget” to exist.

  • Thabk you very much for some helpful tips! I am going to do as much Gaia work as possible. I plan on doing outside rituals only and cook hearty food with my family. I also will be changing my color scheme wardrobe.

  • I love this time of year cause the humidity starts to dip down and it’s not blazing hot. However no acorns. That’s spring time for me.

  • Mabon is the only time of year I get to go outside at all 😂 In Japan the summers are like 100°F+/38°C on some days (& there are also hornets the size of small birds 😅🤣) so I just hang out inside til autumn lol Been going outside a lot more recently and loving it 😍

  • Hi. I loved your video. I've neglected Mabon always, too, but this year I want to celebrate it. I've had a few hard months and a celebration where calming down and do introspection is on the agenda is what I need right now. An aspect I miss a little in your video is thankfulness. For me that's an important part of a harvest festival. The past year has been one of loss and change for me. My mother died, I've ended a long time relationship and changed my job. On Mabon I want to focus on what I gained this year and what I have in my life that I'm thankful for. I'll set up a small altar, fumigate and do a little farewell ritual for my mother.

  • My Nana passed this morning. However it is interesting that Mabon is about harvest I think I need to make a kitchen Alter. I think Grandma (my great grandmother) told my Nana it is ok to let go, and they were always cooking. It does warm me up thinking of their food. Everything is also talking about the end of an Era or chapter and well Samhain is the new year. 🧡

  • could you make a video talking about "the veil" between worlds? ive seen the take that there isn't actually a veil at all that separates this world and the other world, that the other world is woven together with this world like a tapestry. where instead of trying to see the "other side" you learn to see/feel the strings and fibers that are right here all around you. i already have the belief that doing mundane things can have magical effects and vice versa, so it makes sense to me. I'd also like a video on the concept of the "higher self" and if it's different than your best self? like, just you if everything in your life was going your way, with less stress and obstacles.
