  • As a Brit living in the USA for the last 20 years, seeing Americans try Marmite never gets old 🤣 I've never really liked it either. They have things called Twiglets which are crunchy and basically marmite flavor too. I'd loooove to see you try scones and clotted cream! It's hard to find here because of the way the dairy is prepared you cant make it here, but theres a local place here that sells it cold and imported over. So so many British things I'd love to see you try!

  • Brit here: the best use of Marmite for me is in a cheese toastie (grilled cheese) - you only need a little bit, but it really boosts the flavour. It's also good to add to soups and stews to add extra umami. In case you were looking for ways to use it now you've bought it!

  • As a Brit, I recommend trying a selection of biscuits (I think Americans refer to them as cookies?). The brands McVities and Fox’s are always a good bet with biscuits like Digestives, Hob Nobs, Penguins, Jam Creams, Crunch Creams etc.

  • It's so fun that some of these is a thing in Sweden too! Especially the flying saucers. When I was a kid and me and a friend of mine got either our allowance or saturday candy money, we used to go to the kiosk. I think this was probably a thing in the US and UK too, but the smaller kiosks sold candy for 50 öre (0,5 Swedish krona) per bit. So you told the cashier what pieces you wanted and how many, and they filled up a little baggie for you. Well, my friend was obsessed with the saucers and pretty much always blew all of her money on buying those. Sometimes she had 50 SEK, which is about $5 (i have no idea if that's the case with the inflation atm, and I have absolutely no clue of how much it was back then, but we'll just go with that 😅), and used it all to buy 100 saucers.... 100 of them! 😂 I liked the powder but can't stand the texture of the casing, so I always preferred the containers of powder that was basically the same thing. And yes, I think that is still a thing in smaller kiosks, but we also have "loose candy" in practically every grocery store there is. It works pretty much the same way, only that the candies are in bigger containers and you fill up a bag yourself and then weigh it. So the price is by the hecto (hg). I think that's a thing in Norway too, and maybe Denmark, but I'm not sure about the other Nordic countries.
