Wrecked and Parked for 6 Years! Reviving my S54 6-Speed Swapped E36 Coupe - Episode 1

2024 ж. 22 Мам.
77 153 Рет қаралды

In 2015, a fender-bender caused me to lose all motivation to keep the E36 on the road. I parked it, only to move it on rare occasions, maybe 5 miles in total since. Today, though, it's finally time to revive this project. I've owned the car for nearly 15 years, and we've been through a LOT together. It's a hugely sentimental car to me, and I'm excited to share the rebuild with you guys.

  • I picked up my phone just to comment on this. You retouching on your E36 means a lot to me as it’s one of the most influential cars to me growing up since seeing the fluid motor works video as a kid. This car has given me immeasurable amounts of motivation over the years and probably ignited my love for the E36 and E46 chassis. I just wanted to take the time to thank you for never letting go of what is seen as a legend in my eyes . Absolutely love to see this car back , and I’ll be tagging along every step of the way

  • Ok. I rarely comment on YT, but this project pulls at my heart strings. When I was in college, I went to test drive used cars with my brother and he found an E36 - Alpine 325is - that we bought on the spot. After driving that thing like twice, I immediately took out a small loan and shopped around for my own. We found a '93 Granitsilber 325is in my price range and I've never gone a day of my life since without owning at least one E36. After learning everything that can go wrong (and right) about the chassis, that poor car was ready to move on (headgasket leak because somehow the water pump impeller and thermostat somehow both took a dump) and I sold it to another young kid looking for a college project car, but my dream has always been to build out a GSM E36 exactly like this (or even to find that one and clean it back up). I will be watching this eagerly and hope some day to see it in person!

  • Liked before even watching the video. I’m so stoked, I remember this car from google years ago and it being my screensaver. Fast forwards a good amount of years and I now own a Granit silber slicktop e36 coupe. Literally fell into my hands and I didn’t even know until recently that Mikes car is also granit silber. Ecstatic to watch this series!!

  • Looking forward to seeing this build. I really enjoyed the history lesson giving the background on that particular E36 as it offers a nice insight into the 'story' of the car which is always nice to hear. Seeing those old photos reminded me of when I had a 97 318is in red on black cloth (quite rare) and without a sunroof (it was an option on the 318). I really liked the car but eventually sold it when the sound of the engine just got to me. The 6 cylinder was just so much nicer than the boomy 4. Best of luck; I'm sure it will be awesome.

  • Very excited to see this. I have a 97 M3 that I bought when I was 18, I’m 24 now. It’s been sitting in my backyard for the last 4 years basically on a tender and under a car cover. I still start it up. Car needs valve stem seals and an entire top end tho to be roadworthy. about 4 years of parts accumulation in the trunk as well, I’m hoping to tear into the motor soon. This is the inspiration I need haha.
