How to Read the Beach for Surf Fishing [Beginner Tutorial]

2022 ж. 6 Қар.
265 468 Рет қаралды

Reading the beach for surf fishing is one of the most intimidating things for those who are just starting out. I made this for the beginner and I hope it can be a helpful part of your journey into surf fishing. As always, nothing beats time on the water and if you've gone out a few times and found it frustrating, don't quit! If you stick with it, the results will follow and I believe that it is well worth your effort. Tight lines!

  • Great video. I am 60 years old. Fished my whole life and learned how to read the surf the hard way. By going surf fishing and not knowing what I was doing and had to figure it out by myself. I found you video very interesting. I like your style of teaching. A Lot of reading the beach video's I've seen do not come close to your approach and simplicity of the difficult task of surf reading. This is a must see for all new surf fishers who want to catch fish. I am from New Jersey and this applies for the east coast as well. Thank you for a great video.

  • This is one of the best tutorials I've seen on reading the surf. For someone who's fished the California surf and now New Jersey surf for the last 15 yrs, I can't emphasize how relevant this is regardless of the coast you fish. I fish a lot of jetties here on the east coast, but this is a nice refresher as I sometimes overlook these "sweet" spots going from one jetty to the other especially at night. I will definitely share with friends who are looking to take on this addictive passion. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi benjie! Thanks for the great video this has helped a lot. Most of the beaches that I am able to get to are full of reef and rocks and I have been struggling identify and put my LC into the right spots. Do you have any tips for these conditions?

    @mastervortex2644@mastervortex2644 Жыл бұрын
    • Hey there, man sounds like you're at the right locations brotha. From there, it's just a matter of dialing it in thru trial and error. I find that a lot of locations like this fish best at a low to negative tide as it will allow you to walk further out and cast the outer edges of that structure. When scouting, look for drop off points and holes (darker water) where the structure is. IMO there's a HIGH possibility that your locations are loaded....now it's just a matter of timing when the bite window is. All it takes is one session for you to get bit...log what the tide and conditions were like and hone in from there. Hope that helps.

  • Great information . Just came back from the beach. The fishing was pretty lousy. Talking to others on the shore they had worse fishing than I did with my son. Is there any benefit to fishing out past the tide?
