It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Sa’ib said: “I attended the ‘Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He led us in offering the ‘Eid prayer, then he said: ‘I have finished the prayer. Whoever wants to sit (and listen to) the sermon, then let him sit, and whoever wants to leave, then let him leave.’” حَدَّثَنَا هَدِيَّةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ حَضَرْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَصَلَّى بِنَا الْعِيدَ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ قَدْ قَضَيْنَا الصَّلاَةَ. فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ لِلْخُطْبَةِ فَلْيَجْلِسْ. وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ فَلْيَذْهَبْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ Grade: Sahih (Darussalam)

1. Surah A'ala 2. Surah Ghashiyah Mostly in Eid and jummah salah, these two surahs are recited as it is sunnah and always practiced by the Prophet saws.

Method of offering ‘Eid prayer: Eid prayer consists of two units (Rakat in Arabic, singular is Raka). The main difference in the way this prayer is performed is the number of Takbirs that are done.Takbirs is an the Arabic word referring to when “Allahu Akbar” is said and the hands are raised to the ears.Step 1: Make an intention of doing two Rakat behind the Imam for Eid prayer of Fitr/Az’ha facing the Qibla for the sake of Allah. In Arabic as:نويت اصلي ركعتين سنة عيد الاضحى متوجها الى الكعبة الشريفة لله تعالى. The First Raka’ah Step 2: After the Imam has said “Allahu Akbar” the first time, you should raise your hands and fold & keep above the stomach below the chest as usual. This is the first Takbir of the prayer. And then recite Du’a of starting the prayer that is: اسْتَفْتَحَ الصَّلاةَ قَالَ :” وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ إِلَى الَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ، سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ ، تَبَارَكَاسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ ، وَلا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ ، إِنَّ صَلاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ، لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَبِذَلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ “. Step 3: There will be 7 Takbirs before the Imam starts reciting Quran. Each time the Imam says “Allahu Akbar”, you should follow by raising your hands, then putting them down by sides. After the seventh Takbir, the Imam will begin reciting the Quran. At that point, you should put your hands below the chest above the stomach. Step 4: Listen to the recitation of the Holy Quran. The Imam will recite Surah Al Fatiha (the first Surah of the Quran) and then another Surah. Step 5: When the Imam says “Allahu Akbar” raise your hands till your shoulders (Rfa’ Yadain) & go into Ruku (the bowing position). Step 6: Stand up straight when he says Sami Allahu liman Hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him), while raising your hands till the shoulders saying “Rabbana lakal Hamd” (our Lord praise be to You) in a voice consideringly low but can be heard by the persons standing by you. Step 7: When the Imam says “Allahu Akbar” go into Sujud (prostration). You will do two prostrations as in normal prayer. The Second Raka’ah Step 8: After the Takbir of standing for second Raka’ah the Imam will recite 5 takbirs, follow Imam. Raise your hands till your shoulders and leave down by the sides, after the fifth takbir Imam will recite the Surah Al-Fatiha and then another Surah. Step 9: After the recitation, When the Imam says “Allahu Akbar” raise your hands till your shoulders (Rfa’ Yadain), go into Ruku (the bowing position). Step 10: Stand up straight when he says Sami Allahu liman Hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him), while raising your hands till the shoulders saying “Rabbana lakal Hamd” (our Lord praise be to You) in a voice consideringly low but can be heard by the persons standing by you. Step 11: When the Imam says “Allahu Akbar” go into Sujud. You will do two prostrations. Step 12: After this, you sit for the complete Tashshahud. Step 13: After the Imam ends the prayer by turning to his face to the right first and saying “Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullah” and then to his left and doing the same, you should follow. Step 14: Do not get up right away. The Imam will give Khutbah (speech). Please stay still and listen. It is recommended to do so. Note: After the prayer of ‘Eid Al-Az’ha don’t forget to sacrice the animal which is recommended to sacrifice for those who are able to do so.

It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The people will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten to break their fast.” حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ: ‏ "‏ لاَ يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا عَجَّلُوا الْإِفْطارَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ Grade: Sahih (Darussalam)

- I think the guy praying is just stopping the man who wanted to walk in front of him while praying. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade that and said: “If the one who walks in front of a person who is praying knew (the sin) that is upon him, standing for forty would be better for him than passing in front of someone who is praying.” The Sunnah is that that the one who is praying should prevent the one who wants to pass in front of him. For instance Allah Says: And Allah will never lead a people astray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them as to what they should avoid. [Quran 9: 115]. Moreover, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam, did not order the person who did not know how to pray to make up his prayer.
