  • I hope this kid listens more to his coaches and uses his height and reach advantages for once just to get some wins. Gotta appreciate all the exciting fights he has given us, which also has made his path fun but extremely difficult when it comes to staying at the top with little damage taken during a career.

    @alcottdevalte7440@alcottdevalte7440 Жыл бұрын
    • Honest to god, when I heard Dan's switching division, I thought, great, he's going to fight in a weight class that his large-boned, extra tall, lanky frame's made for... and then I saw he's talking about 145, my first thought was WTF! And, indeed, my reaction was on the market: he was so emaciated, he could hardly move, even after a day's of rehydration. Dan is so big and tall, he should be moving up to 170, which would allow him body to fill out, so he would have maximum speed and power, optimizing his height and reach. Anyway, glad he's back to 155.

      @kiabtoomlauj6249@kiabtoomlauj6249 Жыл бұрын
    • @@kiabtoomlauj6249 You're absolutely right about that. Surprised that Dan's team never convinced him to move up to 170, and even try 185 at least once considering that he trains with Adesanya all the time.

      @alcottdevalte7440@alcottdevalte7440 Жыл бұрын
    • @@michaw2209 You're right but I don't think he listens much to his coaches. And when he does, he has had his best wins. The Burns win was due to him using his long jab and the distance fully while also switching stances, and he also started strong against Dustin early on with his height and reach advantages, but when Dustin made adjustments during round 3 and onwards, Dan stopped using his advantages again... I think Dan is one of those fighters that is a world champion during sparring and in the gym, but not during the actual fights. Funny how there are videos of him giving Adesanya tough sparring sessions, and then he can't do that during his own fights at his fullest potential. Anyway, hope he wins this week.

  • Any fighter is capable of improving their skills and Dan is no exception. He has tremendous potential and knockout power but he must find that elusive spark and incentive to stay in the fight even after taking it on the chin, just like Oliveira did. He needs to vastly improve on his defense and learn how to roll with the punches in order to rise up the ranks. He appears to have a great personality and I wish him all the best in the future.

    @lovesmusic7@lovesmusic7 Жыл бұрын
    • That’s just wrong, Dan has heart for days, how could you possibly have seen Hooker vs Poirier and came away not knowing Dan has insane heart? Plus, Dan doesn’t have the grappling ability of Charles, where after he gets dropped most people are afraid to go into his guard to finish and he has time to recover. This analysis is not it chief.

      @muzz4610@muzz4610 Жыл бұрын
    • @@muzz4610 Heart alone does not guarantee a win. You need to have the chin and a strong defense to go along with it. He basically has two options. He either initiates the attack and beats his opponent to the punch or he tightens up on his defensive skills.

The Makhachev fight was an already sliding Hangman, where he got paid, and took very little damage in a fight no one expected him to win. It's also clear that the Hunter and Sean like him (wins over Makhachev or Allen would've carried him to the top of either division and were great opportunities) and have made him a favorable matchup here given that Claudio isn't known for his knockout power. I'm going with a more mature Dan Hooker. Leave the Hangman in Perth 🤔
