This whole album deserved a Grammy. She was robbed and I will never get over it. She puts her finger on things we don’t want to think about. That’s why she got such backlash when she first got big. Nobody wanted to hear songs about wistfulness during the era of party rocking. It’s curious to me how, over the years as people seem to be reckoning with difficult things, critical and commercial reception to Lana Del Rey has gotten warmer. She’ll never be in the level as Top 40 but she’s not meant to because what she sings about isn’t commercial. Also listening to this in 2022 hits even harder. She knew we were leaving something behind.

Lana del Rey is most definitely the best artist of all time. I really wish I could just once meet her to let her know how much she's had an impact on 11 year old me.
