Well, fire is a great equalizer. Everyone needs to either fight the fire or get out. Additionally, a fire summons the authorities who are least likely to be involved in an illegal and dangerous conspiracy yet arrive wearing padded armor and wielding axes. If you aren't locked or bound, but are just guarded, and if you are almost certainly going to die anyway, setting a fire is a good backup. Even if you fail, you do a lot of damage to the plan or base of whatever group has you captured.

I dunno, after so many horror movies with idiots dying, nowadays seeing a character with actual survivor instinct or knowledge to fight back gives me more satisfaction at the end. Even if they screw up a few times (or else there wouldn’t be a movie), the ending is just so fun to cheer for the victim to break free of their absurd situation.

Some people do not make the most intelligent choices when under stress and anxiety. Also as the viewers, we have a much more wild vision of the situation than the actual character.

Okay, for the first death, she was fucked the moment she was caught and thrown in the coffin to be buried alive. If I remember correctly, Mythbusters actually went out of their way to test if you could punch your way out of a coffin if you were buried alive like in Kill Bill. They proved that even if you had enough strength to start breaking the coffin with the limited space you had to punch with and you were good at punching with plenty of strength, you were more than likely going to pass out before the pine starts to become breakable enough for escape or you could be crushed to death by the dirt flooding in.
It's a 0.01% chance of survival over 0%, some people might think it's worth it. I'd just be tryna find a way to curl up, and I'd light some stuff on fire to hopefully use the oxygen more quickly 🤔
Yup, at best she should've been much more subtle instead of mindlessly bolting for the gate. As soon as the broken leg and coffin came in she was 100% done like a steak dinner.
That's why each coffin needs to be equipped with an alarm to let ppl know you've been buried alive. In them olden days there was a bell with a string attached that went into the coffn so the victim could pull it for help.
@@hoibsh21 yepyep, but with the way medicine has advanced, we know when someone is dead, or if they're just barely breathing/have a weak heartbeat. In most places you cannot officially declare someone as dead unless you're a paramedic and have properly checked, or there's no way they could have survived, like missing a head, or they have a large wound that's no longer bleeding type of thing. Back when they had the bells was cuz of the plague. Medicine wasn't advanced and they probably wouldn't have wanted to get too close to examine the body either

@@vikaziza1506 It's not so much a great job but a high pressure one all things considered, 6 times a day for prayers, very strict timetable, very limited casual talk and of course *everything* of the outside world is a sin. Lots of nuns just simply don't continue and then of course there's the famous cruel nuns in charge of children...I'm sure plenty good hearted ones crack watching that cruelty in action.
I would've at least hid the dead chicken in an empty bedside drawer or something for fuck's sake

I believe Mythbusters disproved the busting through the coffin scenario. There's just too much weight keeping the structure in place.
It depends on how long shes been buried. If its a fresh burial and the dirt hasn't settled fully yet, there is a possibility of busting out the bottom and escaping.

The bath scene, you actually want to drop to the bottom of the pool on your back, you can drop in water much faster than someone with the attackers stance. If they get a rear naked choke however you want to try and get your head a little higher than hers while pulling down in the chock arm and then try and put you're self next to them always going in the direction of the hand in elbow pit connection. How I know? 7 years jiu jitsu, and started 4 years of waterpolo.

I worked at a convent for my first job at 16 as a nursing assistant many of the older nuns were forced into a convent by their families or husbands or unwed mothers were they took their babies away one of them carried a baby doll around things were very different at the time they were forced there and it was on a big hill with a huge gate at door and around the grounds! So Cecilia wouldn't have found anything to be alarmed about, it's perfectly normal.
There’s a webcomic in webtoon called “Lorena Immaculate” and this reminded me of it. It’s so good! It’s about some nuns from this “Convent” going to a house to exorcise it only to realize that they’ll have to work together with some ghost hunters/ bloggers. Lorena (our main character) starts to learn about the outside world and slowly begins to question Mother Superior and their “one true convent” It’s VERY good 👌:D

An average person has enough intuition to figure certain things out. 1- if anyone is gonna get a job, especially in a foreign country they would wanna be aware of the address before hand and be aware of any likely dangers in the area. Even if they don't actually expect their employers to be bad people. 2- They'd wanna get info on why the previous worker quit and this helps them feel out the work environment. These two things would have saved her life simply because they are basic safety protocols. Ab employee needs to do research about a new place their filling in as to avoid wasting their time or energy and also getting more insight into the job's know-how

The weight of the dirt on top of the coffin would add to the force needed to break the lid. That adds literal tons of force to something that already takes tons of force to break (because if it didn't, it would have collapsed already).

Often the problems and situations proactive protagonists re faced with in these types of horror movies can be entirely avoided by not panicking and pausing. Most of the protagonists immediate problems would be solved with a bit of forethought and planning. Their beginning mistakes can almost all be avoided by simply not panicking and acting like a small child from step one.
In a convent they wait on instructions. Independent thinking is not encouraged.
