How could the villagers kill one of these intelligent, sentient animals for no reason? And she had a small baby with her. Sometimes I hate people, but then I must remember that there are wonderful people like these wildlife workers who work on rehabbing :) Thanks for this.

    • Elephants trample their crops and also nothing more dangerous than an elephant with their child who feels threatened. It’s very easy for humans and elephants to come into dangerous situations with each other as they loose their territory to human development

      @mortalclown3812@mortalclown3812 Жыл бұрын
    • @@mortalclown3812 no that’s not what I said- there is a difference between hunting them specifically or defending your crops and family etc. however.. poachers will often offer locals huge amounts of money to help them get elephants. When you have a family to feed it’s hard to resist. To save the elephants we need to stop the demand of elephant tusks and stop continually reducing their territory. These seem impossible tho.. but programs that help out and work with local villages and farmers to live with and maybe even benefit from Elephants continued existence helps.

      @nadiabairamis3854@nadiabairamis3854 Жыл бұрын
    • Villagers often don't attack elephants unless their crops got eaten and /or an elephant charged and attacked a villager. Poachers are the cruel ones because they're driven by greed..they don't even have mercy to end the suffering of the baby elephant left behind..they'll just kill the mom and leave the baby to starve and suffer.

    • I have heard there are some animal welfare organizations in Africa that tells and shows people that they are rescuing baby animas and they take care of them until they get old and then they are sold to poachers and hunters (basically rich men from western countries that thinks hunting and taking a pic with the hunted animals makes them looks cool and rich). I am not saying that this is the same type of organization but be careful and try to gather all the info about the well beings of the animals before donating any such welfare organization. I really wish that the genuine ones get all the help and donations to keep up their nobel work

They have long made plans to keep the masses divided, and from taking a united front against open and covert dictatorship. The main tools they use are racism, and class. Because they know those things will keep the masses from having a united front against them. If they didn't have these things in place they would have no power. • @@wms72 99% of abortions happen when fetuses don’t even have a functioning nervous system that can feel pain (the remaining 1% are only done for extreme circumstances where the mother’s life is in danger, etc). _Embryos/fetuses cannot even feel pain until at least the 28th week of gestation._ And there isn’t an issue of human species endangerment like there is with elephants (in fact, we have an issue of overpopulation!). Here in the USA, no state allows abortion past that point in time (28 weeks), except for rare and extreme circumstances (like I mentioned before -- the mother's life is at risk, or the fetus has a terrible genetic disease wherein it is suffering or will suffer a lot post birth, or will only die after birth, but not before it suffers a lot first). You probably eat animals everyday that are fully developed, and have no problem whatsoever with killing/eating them, but for some reason people like yourself flip out over a fetus *that can’t even feel pain yet* being eliminated, so that their fully developed mother can live a better life. Yeah, as a woman I am always going to prioritize my life over something that can make my life a living hell depending on the circumstances. Deal with it. For the record though, I have never had an abortion, and I also haven’t eaten animals in 30 years.

  • I just now read an article on this orphan Ndotto. August 7th 2014, he was a fresh newborn, still had umbilical cord...he was around Ndotto Mountains following a herd of cows, he thought was his family, and their herders home to Samburu. The community contacted David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust after keeping him warm and safe overnight. A helicopter had to come get him because it was such a remote location! The Samburu community gave him cows milk, they meant well but harmed him without knowing. He was saved in time 😀 the rescue provided him with elephant plasma for immune system, then special formula and a glucose drip to hydrate. A side note about the Ndotto people: someone in their community hiked about 20+ hours to find help for this elephant! How amazing those people were. I read this from Africa Geographic website article and thought I would share!

I don’t understand why the ivory trade and farmlands are so much more important than the lives of these wonderful beings. It should be a priority of ours not to impede their health and livelihood. There MUST be a way to coexist.
