Hey Karue! I have to share a funny story with you guys. Mackie’s dad was my oral surgeon and I was scheduled for a procedure with him to pull out all of my wisdom teeth. I actually had to be under some sedation meds for the procedure. I do not remember it but my wife told me that for some reason the whole time while I was drugged up all I was talking about was how much I loved Mackie’s game and how I hoped that he does well that season. It was Like I had a little man crush on the guy. Lol! Anyhow. I appreciate all your vids! Great content. Appreciate getting to see this high level match! Keep it up!!
😂
that is SOOO AMAZING HAHAHAH thank you for sharing
17:15 my favourite point. Mackie playing the high percentage shots with great net clearance and control while giving just enough depth and heaviness so that Marcos cant hit a clean winner. Then hitting a perfectly controlled passing shot! Marcos also hit a great FH on the run (17:29) which Mackie did well to get back into the point. It opens up another dimension when watching at court level, absolutely love it
Wow, Mackie's forehand is just beautiful to watch. Tremendous leverage on the ball
He clocks it
@@MyTennisHQ and how!
I gotta say, people only see this level of tennis by paying good money. You being able to record their session is a sure benefit of being a Bruin yourself. Thanks Karue for posting.
Perks of being on a great team!
Bruins are good college level players, but the coaching there doesn’t lead to top level ATP pro. Guys like Giron, McDonald are top 50 , but that’s about it. Neither has ever won a ATP tournament at any level. The elite tennis players skip college.
@@teeduck top 50 ATP is not top level? Bruh
@@AmuzeVindi 61 of the last 70 Slams have been won by 3 players That’s your elite top tennis. No one is paying for a ticket to see someone ranked #50. People are paying to see the top 5 players. Maybe 10.
@@teeduck nephew log off the internet
Karue thanks for the upload. Any chance you can feature high level tennis next time? These guys are probably 3.5 NTRP at best.
Dude, 3.5 is pretty generous… 2.5 at best…
Lol, Are you sure they are even ranked? (*wink)
If Giron is "Quadzilla" that makes Mark Sansait "Calfzilla" #BWEH
are u KIDDING me... u hav to be STUPED to think that thes TOP 100 PLAYEERS r rancked 3.5 NTRP. i shoudnt EVEN wast my tim with this DUM coment.
Obv these guys are only using water guns, they don’t have the magnum rifle you and @dillplays got KEKW
My boys 😍
What a great set to watch. Love this sort of very high level singles at an angle that actually shows what they are doing. Fun to see their play and patterns and how great they both executed throughout. The TV cameras are so high up you can't get a feel of how heavy they hit the ball and with such great margins.
Big fan of both Mackie and Marcos. Love watching both of em play. Remember Marcos from his time as a top recruit back in 2011-2012. Mackie gives 2-handed Fed vibes
both guys with similar games. hit flat, counterpunch well, insanely good movers. I think mackie has a little more ball control which made the difference.
Yes. Similar styles in their own way
Another great video. Footwork on both guys is amazing. Looks as if they are gliding on the court. Hope these two have a great 2022 season!
Awesome court level video! Perfect angle to showcase the skills of 2 top level guys
I nominate this for tennis video of the year. Absolutely top notch content. I wish the best of luck to both of these guys in the upcoming year.
These 2 are my favourite Bruins, with you as third coz you’re awesome to post this video. Hope they do well this year at Melbourne. I recall they did a training video a while back - any chance of doing something similar? Thanks for posting this video.
Wonderful video. It took me more than an hour to watch It, slow motion and rewind some shots. I realized my suddenly lack of power could be for bending and not stretching the elbow enough on my forehand. Hope so, cause it's a problem I have when I play many days in a row and start to fell myself stiff and shrunken. Everybody tells me to stop for a while but there has to be another solution. Really enjoy this. Very grateful.
It's amazing to watch them play from this perspective. They are so strong and hit such powerful shots... wow.
Awesome stuff. Thanks for another great upload, Karue!! Hope these guys will keep rising in 2022.
Thank you for sharing those kinds of videos! I absolutely love them! Greetings from Switzerland
you are welcome!
@@MyTennisHQ Thanks for the vids! I see they are playing with a Blade and a Vcore. Do you know the head sizes? And are these the standard models?
Excited to see them back!
8:44 point wow
Incredible how well they move and you can see at this court level view. Thanks for sharing!
Moving well is essential for anyone to play good tennis
impressive stuff..thanks for sharing!
This is great! Both more defensive playing incredibly fast players. But they both like to go to the net every opportunity they have and I appreciate that. I think that either one of those two can win on any given day against the other, the deciding factor will probably be day form and luck. Both also very sympathetic players, quite calm and not celebrating after each and every point.
Huge hits and pace, forehands blast through the court.
Wow 😯 awesome set thanks for filming pro set without annoying commentators I have seen a few Giron matches this season he has really improved and of course Mackie is a beast Thanks 🙏🏿
Mackie is a defensive nightmare. Been watching his matches this year and dude gets EVERYTHING back. And like infinite battery wth
SO FAST
Думаешь молчана завалит сегодня? 🤔
Thanks for the video. Obvious problem with Giron's serve on the deuce side. He either turns his head too early or his shoulder comes round too early but whichever it is, he simply doesn't get the same penetration or consistency he gets on the add side. Hope he can see it from watching this video and corrects it. You can thank me later :))
Love these videos!!! Mac’s coach, Jaime Pulgar is a great guy, great coach! I train with his twin brother Javier occassionally, and I get so much out of those sessions. Really like Mac’s chances of climbing to top 30! Thanks for posting!
Wow, Mackie has improved alot since his UCLA days. Crazy to compare his current skill level to his old college videos.
Karue god damnit, you're channel is a true tennis players channel. Just high quality tennis and insights. Of course the match is in 60FPS, why every tournament doesnt do this for their highlights and matches is beyond me
60FPS all day
Amazing!!!
Funny how this channel and a few others has made me a big Giron, Fritz and McDonald fan. I'm more hyped up for their matches than most of the other players on tour haha Great footage!
LETS GO!! Love to hear that. I want to give the less recognized players exposure and show they are effin good
True story I definitely have been routing for Giron since seeing him here!
Awesome upload!
This is awesome. Reminds me of Matt Lin's vids from back in the day
Crazy that these guys are going to face each other in the 2nd round at the ATP 250 in Spain. Great win for Giron and Mackie has been solid this season. Maybe some match commentary from you or Marcos on this match for a future video?
That was awesome! Mackie and Giron are both great players!
Mackie is possibly one of the most underrated players on tour
One of the cleanest ball strikers
@@MyTennisHQ He's like the Lindsay Davenport of the men's game...in terms of clean ball striking.
Happy New Year Karue!
Swing Vision would've been perfect for this video!
There is a video where Marcos cramps up at the same time as the other player at a Sarasota tournament. I think it would be educational to ask him about it. I've seen people cramp up really bad. But I never really asked them what they felt.
Hi Karue, any particular reason why both of them were hitting so many second serves to the forehands? Knowing Marcos and Mackie, they both have forehands as the stronger wing. Is it more so to get the kick slice to get them moving into the court (when serving on ad side) and then hit behind them vs pulling them out on the deuce side? Any insight would be great. Thanks! Loved Mackie since watching him on Matt Lin's channel all those years ago when he was in college.
That is something new on the pro tour. Players need to be less predictable on second serves these days. If you only hit to one side you can be exposed with good returns. Djokovic has done this a lot, goes for more second serves to the forehand than backhand nowadays. All part of finding small edges against one another
Insane level of tennis 🎾 Absolute world class!
World class!
For players not over 6’ tall, Giron and McDonald have really solid serves. Nice, easy motions.
yea they have great serves
Hope these 2 players can have an outstanding 2022 season
They will!!
Mackieeeeee! My favourite player!
Marcos serving huge, looks like he really improved his serves
So cool seeing two Bruins gong back to court one to battle it out! Not much between these two but Mackie's variety (slice backhand then the inside in forehand and the willingness to get to the net) and defense is the difference. Any chance Cressy or Redlicki make it on the channel? Great content and keep it coming!
Redlicki is on the channel already!
That is some good tennis
17:14 Mac's defense, a-la-Djok
I was surprised by how flat both guys hit. Many of the misses were ground strokes from the baseline into the top of the net.
8:45 crazy point
Absolutely loved this! Wow, these guys probably averaged 90+MPH ground strokes in this set. Thank you K for the upload and this awesome X-mas gift. Cheers. MM
Yes they were hitting the ball big!!
8:05 definition of placement over power
Great set. Seems like Giron hits a bit flatter forehand then Mack.
Giron e o Macdonald jogaram juntos na mesma época na UCLA?
did the two guys play the clay season this year beside French Open? or they focus completely on hardcourt?
Giron made third round of the French
Awesome. These guys hit the ball so flat. Do you think product of playing so much on hardcourts.
Yeah compared to the European guys America guys hit very flat I think for the same reason
Also the court where they are playing is reallly good for flat players. The ball basically skips at LATC
its just how they feel comfortable hitting the ball. Growing up on hard definitely plays a role but some people just like that ball flight better
Why do you think Mackie gets so much power off his forehand? Is it the grip? The extension? Is it because he hits relatively flat?
Timing. He has impeccable timing. Yes the flatter style helps but to be that consistent using the eastern grip requires great timing. Mackie is one of those guys!
That point at 17:15 Mackie's defense was just insane.
insane!
Mackie is a beast man
"quadzilla" lol true
Giron has the windmill forehand like Gasquet
USC vs ucla atp edition would be interesting
Seemed like Marcos wasn't hitting his first serve as hard as he did later. Also, missed a lot of slice serves to the deuce court. Mackie generally hits harder.
Those courts are near the coed dorms, Ackerman Union, and Pauley Pavilion. Giron played well. MacDonald improved alot from a pro's 7.0 perspective. No USTA 5.0 can touch him lol
Quads vs calves
Game score would be real nice....
Quadzilla as in injured quads all the time?
I've always thought that McDonald is very relaxed on the court. I wish I was like that.
Mcdonald with white shirt and his name was Black tile, and Giron with black shirt his tile was white. I was a bit confused at the start not gonna lie hahaha
Yeah, those scoring tile colors should have been switched to match the player's shirt color.
lol didn’t even notice that
@@MyTennisHQ we got your back Karue!
McDonald in white t-shirt but with a black score, Giron in black t-shirt but with a white score, found this somewhat confusing particularly as they look similarish (same height hair colour, etc).
yeah I did not notice that! Hahah my bad
imagine if they showed a whole live wimbledon match from this perspective. WHY NOT
Can you play a practice set with Mackenzie?? PLSSSS
Great to see former Bruins in the top 100
Yes!
The battle of best legs in tennis.
Look at how good these guys are. And now think that Nadal beat one of them (McDonald) last year 6-1 6-0 6-3 in RG. That's how good he is.
Mcdonald keeps the ball for the second serve on his right pocket. Thats very unusual for a righty and pro player. I only see that with beginners or kids :)
yep he is the only one I see doing it
I need to try this
MACKIE IS A FKN LEGEND...GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIMES..I WANT TO START A MACKIE MCDONALD CULT
How to grow THICCC quads like Giron? Asking for friend.
Should we have a quad workout with marcos?
@@MyTennisHQ this would be high value content! Mucho 👀
No love scoring in the video? Was hard to tell who won the certain points, mainly the ones that were close.
Hey that’s my school
Ok on the very first point on macdonals serve, giron moves back after the block return. Now compare that to what federer would do as he uses this tactic a lot. No way he would move back
Well Federer and Marcos are two different players one is an extremely aggressive player and other is an aggressive counterpuncher
@@piyushpriyadarshi2123 and thus loses the point
You have a lot to learn about tennis, my friend
@@MyTennisHQ mate this is american tennis as it is. Pushing, hanging backwards on the forehand and just no chance against european technique
Mackey teeing off on all the serve returns
yeah he was going for it
Quadzilla vs Calf Kong
Precisely!
Point at 17:15 is unreal. Scary good ball striking!
Both the offense and defense were just incredible
both are so fast!
LMAO Quadzilla
Mackenzie has bigger quads than the guy nicknamed quadzilla
Clearly Mackie is the better player tactically here.
Where is the Ezone review my man??
I’m assuming he wants to get a good feel for it first. Which involves playing with it multiple times then he has to edit the footage. So give him a bit more time. I have been eagerly anticipating it as well.
Mackie destroyed all of Marcos' second serves
Yeah need a Serve Return lesson from Mackie.
Yes he was going for it
I can spot at least ten things these guys are doing wrong. (Continues eating chips)
Psssh my 45 year old 4.5 captain would whoop bagel these guys. 😏
