** PS: I NEED YOUR HELP **
My goal is to better the lives of #onemilliondogs in my lifetime. It is clearly impossible for me to do this on a one to one basis. I have seen that with around every thousand views on my videos, I get a comment or email thanking me and letting me know the video has helped. So working on that basis, I have to make videos on how to address every problem
behaviour and accumulate ONE billion views in order to help 1,000,000 dogs.
You can help me reach #onemilliondogs by (1) subscribing to my channel and (2) give this video a thumbs up - so KZhead suggests this video to more dog owners and we can help 1,000,000 dogs all over the world. Thank you so much!
** THANK YOU **

I also don't have dog ,Knowing dogs isn't weird

@jugy Yes!!
Seeing this on reddit, I was surprised by how much I wanted to gain this knowledge. I also don't have a dog lol
Me too!
This has been the absolute best video on training dogs.
Great to hear :)
Thank you for your videos Nigel, they are trully refreshing! Real dogs, with real problems that we all struggle with. I particulaly love how you remind us it can take 30+ repeats, or x number of weeks, or whatever the case may be. Please continue to do this in your future videos. It reminds us to keep going in baby steps, to have realistic expectations, and to trust in the process.
Thanks for commenting Lin.
i agree with you!!!! your videos are really helpful!! you show real things. thank you!!!!!
Great! Also, very cute of the other two dogs to sit for the treat when you rewarded Woody.
:)
4:55 *_LOLS the other dogs waiting a treat. You trained those odd balls fast!_* 🤣🤣🤣👊👍
I am actually in tears (of relief!) having found you this morning! THANK YOU!
You are so welcome!

Thank you for this advice. i am going to try it out tomorrow with my 2 year old GSD whose recall is brilliant when we are on our own, but completely deaf to me when near rabbit holes.

It was lovely to meet you at BNI this morning, I have liked and shared your channel on Linkedin... i will definitely follow your instructions on recall for my Shiba Inu.
Great to meet you too Isabella - thank you :)
I've watched some other videos on training my new rescue, but yours really align with me. Thank you for doing these videos!
I'm so glad!
Best trainer I found so far. We are making such great progress!
Great to hear!
Thank you very much for this video, Nigel. We are still on stage one (getting better every day) and I can't wait to progress. You break down everything in steps that are easy to understand.
Thanks Lenka :)
real and great + spot on TTFN
Thank you Charlie.
Awesome Nigel
Thank you Manav :)
Your video is the best I've seen on dog recall. Simple, easy to follow steps with clear results. Thank you :-)
Lovely to hear Jo, thanks for watching and commenting :)
These videos are so well crafted to show what you are intending. I am getting it.
Great to hear!
Do more videos about training a dog, sir. This video really helps a lot. Keep up the good work👍
:)
Thank you!! This was a fantastic video!!! I have a 3 yr old yellow lab. He’s doing wonderful too!!
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thank you for the video. Great guidance on getting to know my dog and working to get her to come. Diligently and continually working with her is the key along with positive rewards.
Glad it was helpful!
Brilliant.. It's clear to me that you have to put in the effort to get the results. Thanks again
My pleasure
Looking to get a dog and preparing to learn , thanks for your vids. Easy to see before and after. And the kind way to train, really important..
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely fantastic video. I can see this is a long term project, requiring consistency and patience, but at each stage, you're giving the dog every chance to succeed. And of course i the mean time, having a ball training. You're my new dog-whisperer!
Suzanne Anderssen glad you liked it. My goal in each video is to be realistic about the time frame. Best of luck.
great advice
GREAT TO HEAR
Thank you for the advice 👍 I'm really looking forward to practicing these techniques and having a happier experience 👍
Best of luck!
Thank you! I will try this on my dogs!
Best of luck.
thx 4 ur videos
Pleasure :)
Very useful. We will be trying this out.
Glad it was helpful!
I really found this video useful. So good to see an untrained dog steadily improving rather than how an already trained dog responds! Patience, calmness, consistency - repeat, repeat, repeat! Looking forward to applying to our 9 month head-strong Golden Retriever :-)
Glad it was helpful! :)
Great video, I found what I was looking for. Also, it's the first video I pressed the Like button after being asked. It's because he asked in the end of the video, not at the beginning as so many others. And he truly humbly asked. No one does it.
Many thanks 🙏🏻🐕
I love this
🙏
Excellent.
Thanks.
Oh my goodness; this is the dream. I'm going to start working on this tomorrow. Thank you.
You can do it!
Your training techniques are spot on. Very good. It's important to keep viewing these techniques over and over again for the owners it will help you with training your own dog.
Thank you :)
Thank you Nigel for your fantastic videos. Hello from Ireland 🇮🇪
Thanks for commenting Katerina, great to hear :) - Hello from East Sussex.
@@nigelreed I have German Shorthair Pointer 1.5 year old. He is still a puppy and need more training for sure. Your videos are great!
I was starting to think that Woody was just a bit thick, but you trained him beautifully. Thank you for this helpful video.
Ha, just very stubborn and aloof. Glad it was helpful! :)
Having watched numerous videos trying to get help with the heel command and pulling, this guy is the best. He tells you the what and why in comprehensive terms, with plenty of visual demonstrations. He doesn't love his own voice and waffle on like another English dog trainer. Thank you Sir.
Great to hear Laura. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Man had to run thru so many videos , Mr Reed you are awesome , I am starting to train my 12 week old bullmastiff , he’s a fast learner so I don’t think it should be a stress
This video should be right up there , Mr Reed if you up from video content and better editing I am sure your channel will be amongst the top ones , let me know if I can help , thanks and regards ,Praveen
Thanks. I have other videos with millions of views. I suspect this will find its way to the top in time.
You’re a god! Thank you.
Glad it helped :)
Amazing! Thanks~
Glad you like it!
Great Stuff Mr Reed! After years of borrowing our friends' dogs, we're getting our own rescue at the weekend. A 5 yo German Shepherd. You're videos are great training - more for us than for the dog..
Lovely to hear you're getting a rescue Mark. And that you are prepared and dedicated. I'm sure you will do well!!
Getting a puppy tomorrow and I cant thank you enough for making these types of detailed videos with a pup that isn't already trained. Seeing the process really helps my confidence as well as willingness to continue with the method!
Happy to help!
Good luck with your new puppy.
Excellent!
Glad you liked it!
Wonderful sir
Many many thanks
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Great vids and am slowly getting my Beagle trained into better behavior(s)
Great to hear :)
Thanks so much for all this information I can't wait to get cracking with all the tricks and skills you have shown in your videos. I've gotten a 13 week old cocker spaniel who's able to start going for walks thos coming weekend and in time I will surely use your methods thanks again Great videos.
Pleasure. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope all goes well :)
Thank you! even though my puppy is only 4 weeks old and I still need to wait another 4 for him to come home, this is amazing advise! by that time I will be rewatching!
Great. Best wishes
Great videos!
Glad you like them!
Nice lesson buddy, Very well explained, I teach lots of game play for recall. Obedience means play then go again.
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Thank you for sharing these training tips. I have 2 rescue pointers who definitely have a high prey drive, and they pull the heck out of me on their leads plus have selective deafness with recall at times.... I'm going back to basics and I'm going to binge watch your videos and put what I learn into action, so I can actually enjoy my dog walks rather than coming back home exhausted and in pain!
Thanks for sharing!! Best of luck.
Great video! I just watched your heel video too... my Min Pin needs both of these badly.
Bets of luck Rob. Thanks for the visit.
How did it turn out Rob?
This is going to help my black lab Loki a great deal. In my efforts to socialise him, I've inadvertently made him assume EVERY dog he sees is there to play with him... Without distractions his recall is ok, but when other dogs are present he's away if not on the lead. Your video on protective behaviour was instrumental in calming his barking out the window quickly and easily, so I'll definitely be following the teachings in this video as well. Thank you.
Really pleased to hear that Jim. Best of luck.
Nigel - another great video , so clearly illustrated I find it amazing it hasn’t got a lot more views . It’s obvious to see the dog’s learning curve , and I just wondered how many sessions on average it will take you to achieve the same results but with the owner of the dog in control ?
Hi Chris, Glad you enjoyed it. On average a couple of weeks 2 sessions a day but each dog is different. Woody took me 3 weeks - 3 sessions a day.
This is really helpful thankyou. I decided to address some issues im having with my dog reggie and after watching one of your other vids on insta I put the effort in this morn. He was so much more responsive and I realised I havent been praising him enough. Just a quiet walk before the park really helped me get his recall better, and I felt he trusted me a bit better as the leader. Thankyou for these videos it really helps me become a better owner
Glad it was helpful! :)
Very useful. Subscribed
Thank you.
Wow! Your training method is much much better than Zac that it deserves way higher subscription than this, like millions. Love it! Thank you for good realistic content.
Thank you 🙏 for your kind words :)
very good at last someone who knows how to train a dog
Thanks Brian :) Note to suspicious people: BTW people Brian is not my dad we just share the last name.
This video did help me a lot. I am in charge of a 2 1/2 y.o. pit bull most days and cannot go to many parks with him so I cannot socialize him the way I'd like. I've been watching videos on training that seem to be encouraging. Thank you.
amazing videos
Thanks! 😀
Wonderful video, I'm a new subscriber. I'm an amateur trainer, your advice is spot on.
Great to hear :)
Amazing, incredible videos. Such understanding of canine mentality. If only this were main stream television for all dog owners to watch rather than dragging their poor pooch around or shouting their heads off, which presumably they do to their children. Well done and thankyou, by the way im fortunate enough to have two beautifully behaved dogs.
Thanks for commenting Gary. Great to hear your dogs are well behaved and you still show an interest in behaviour.
Thank your for these informative videos. I can see I’ve been lax with rewarding my dog’s recalls recently and will step that up while she is on lead now. We trained our dog to to come when she was a puppy and after the terrible two’s here recall has been pretty good, EXCEPT when there is food or the scent of another animal. When people have picnics and/or leave discarded food in the ground in parks it becomes impossible to get her back even with treats. Likewise the other day she caught the whiff of some critter and I lost her in the brush on the slope of the park for almost 45 mins. She wasn’t responding to treats and I didn’t feel confident leaving her in this type of situation (though I have used the leave tactic when she plays hard to get in the park). I didn’t reprimand her when I got her back. I simply carried her all the way home and put her in her crate when we got there. She seemed to understand but I fear that over the three minute walk home, she’d probably forgotten what this was about. What does a dog owner do in these types of situations please?
Hi Deena, you can't do much in that situation bar what you did. Rather it's about setting yourself up to teach her the response each day in stages.
Thank you. I’m carrying treats more vigilantly each day now and working on rebuilding her recall. Cheers.
I found your video yesterday and tried it with my young rescue hound we just got a few days ago. She is doing great using this method already. I'm not sure if I have patience for 32 tries out the door, but I'll work on it. Thanks.
Best of luck
Listened to lots of trainers here and TV--wow, this is over-the-top impressive. An genuine expert!
You're very kind, thank you.
Hi Nigel Thanks for your videos.I have been using your training skills on my rescue standard Poodle. He has responded well ,although he has needed a lot of training. Still needs on going help as his not social. I must get your book. Thanks Giselle
Hi Giselle, it's a process - you will get there if you don't give up. Lovely to hear how dedicated you are. I hope you enjoy the book.
This lesson makes so much sense and I am going to begin this with Emma right away. My other dogs were well trained to return immediately, but were food oriented so it was easy to teach them to come when called. I believe Emma will be happy to learn with praise as a reward. I never intend to have her off leash but one time her harness broke and she needs to come when called for her safety. Thank you !
Thank you. Best of luck
Nigel is such a brilliant dog trainer, this is the best training ever when i get the lead ready my dog "cockapoo " goes crazy with excitement i have to turn around and have my back towards her until she stops jumping and reaching the height of my head lol, i'm going to start teaching my dog tomorrow the way Nigel showed us *****
Thank you :)
Wow I have a new puppy and I've watched a few other channels. So far this channel has made the most sense. There was one channel where the man kept saying what he thought the dog was thinking and I was like 😳. That isn't going to help me one bit even if what he says is true. Not all Dogs think alike. My puppy is the complete opposite of my other Dog that passed away. Wow I miss him so much. This puppy is roudy and I've only had him since July 21, 2020. My other boy was born in 2000. What is so neat about it is that when the first boy turned one then the year was 2001. My pup will be one in 2021! So even if I go senile... You get it! Lol.
Thank you Ronnette :)
I just got the book yesterday. Was reading it at the beach with Louie our wire fox terrier. Very interesting look at the beahvor and psychology side
Thanks Brian :) . Glad to hear you are enjoying it!!
Love this tip. My little Chi has been ignoring my command to cometoo it is Back to the leash!
Best of luck Susan.
I’m gonna start teaching this to my dog tomorrow. Hopefully this works! I followed your method on how to teach a dog not to pull on leash during walks and it worked like magic!
Great to hear Amanda. Best of luck :)
How did it go??
Great video! Thanks! What are your thoughts on the use of whistle recalling?
Yes a whistle is good! I just don't want to carry one.
Episode on Guidance on making the dog walk along side you and follow you was very useful
Good to hear.
You seem to do it so easily! I struggle with my dog being overly aggressive, and pulling me! Come to LA and train her LOL
Hope to come to L.A one day :)
Thanks Nigel! I wonder if you could do a video on dogs chasing / jumping / nipping runners?
Hi Alexia, I already have done that video but it is on my online course. www.thedogguardian.com/dealing-with-aggressive-dogs Best wishes, Nigel
Feeling confident again after watching this. Have tried many times to train my beloved cavoodle but failed. Now i am ready to start again and follow it through..
All the best
My husband is not very steady on his feet & uses a cane. He likes to walk the dog, but I'm trying to make sure the small, but strong, dog does not pull him over. Your video about the out-of-control shepherd amazed me. i tried walking our dog in the house, as you suggested. He's treat motivated! Overnight, he got what I wanted him to do. I will continue to work with him, but he is already doing much better. Thank you SO much!
Amazing Katy - well done. Keep it up.
Hi Nigel. I've been watching your videos and have ordered your book. The videos have helped so much and I am very grateful to you. I am now taking my dog to an empty park and training her recall using a very long training line. The training line is alright but can drag a bit and I wondering if you have any recommendations for a very light line that my dog won't be so aware is attached. Thank you again for all your help. Can't wait to read your book.
Hi Michelle, thanks for getting the book. I use string in such situations. Hope you like the book :)
Nigel. I am so grateful to have discovered your U Tube videos and then your book to help me work with my energetic nearly one year old Lab (She is nearly a clone of the chocolate labs in your walking video). I am also enjoying your Dog Lockdown podcasts but unfortunately wasn't able to tune in live. If you have time for another question via this format, I have made great progress with training to walk on lead but my question is how often to offer a treat reward. If I offer too often, she constantly grabs at my lead hand where the treats are. We have progressed to a quiet street just outside the house and I am trying to wait until she successfully completes one block or another milestone. Is this the correct approach? Thank you again from Tacoma Washington USA.
Thanks for tuning in and buying the book. Yes that is the correct approach :). Gage when treating is too much and adapt. There is no solid answer for each dog.
