In this video, James Allcott takes a look at Xabi Alonso's tactics, style of play, career so far and managerial influences. This is why he could be the next Liverpool manager.
He's played under the likes of Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Rafa Benitez, but how have they influenced one of the most exciting managers in Europe?

  • When asked his favourite giant he’s played for, Xabi said: “I would say Liverpool. It was strange because I thought I’d feel at home in Madrid due to it being my country but compared to Liverpool it wasn’t. Liverpool is like my 2nd home”. In another interview: “Liverpool is still a big part of my life and always will be. I still feel very attached to the club, even not being there, and I still follow the club (…) I stay in contact with friends I have in Liverpool. It’s not a normal club, it’s so special and very important to me (…) I’ve never pretended to be someone I am not. I have always tried to be a normal one (…) The personality of Liverpool people is very particular. They like you to be one of them (…) I felt that from the very beginning.” Xabi’s spoken before about wanting to return to Liverpool. Another Normal One. Klopp’s successor hopefully and I hope he wins the Bundesliga as Klopp did with BVB. Would be so poetic! 🙏🏻

  • His ties with Liverpool run deep as well, hes not shy to say on camera how he still follows and supports them. Equally hes Spanish and playing in your home league speaking your own language in the sunshine is pretty awesome too. I never want Klopps reign to end but if he wanted a new challenge such as being a World Cup German trophy winner and to take it easy then Xabi would be amazing. Then get Stevie in as assistant (he would step down to do it 100%) and were looking good for a while here.

I think he is the perfect manager to take over after Klopp and honestly, I think there will be less pressure than at Real Madrid where failure isn't tolerated and if you don't win, you fail. • I know this is such an obvious statement, but Klopp was perfect for Liverpool because he can transform teams and keep them motivated to play a very intense style of football. He did it with Dortmund, and he left there with credentials, and his personality fits the culture of Liverpool and the club. Now, what makes things different is the fact that the next manager of Liverpool will have less to do than Klopp had to when he arrived; lots has changed at Liverpool now: a new training centre, a bigger stadium and a healthy culture with leaders all over the pitch and a more youthful squad overall. Xabi Alonso would be a risk with it being so early in his career but he will certainly have better foundations than he had joining Leverkusen.

  • If Xabi Alonso goes to Liverpool it would be crazy. It's the only team among the top four in premier league that doesn't have a spanish manager

  • Off all the characters Klopp acquired, I consider charisma is the most important factor. Also, the ability to love and the approach towards the players are other important factors to consider if we want to see the success of the managers.

  • Say what you want but I think we need to keep the training staff and the boot room boys we have now, look at the team photo from 85/86 and see who is on the front row right next to Kenny, you will see Bob Paisley, so do likewise and promote Pep to manager and bring Kenny down to the bench as his assistant/mentor for his first year in charge! Bring back the consistency we had from promoting the next in line from within!

  • If he is smart he stays at Leverkusen for a couple of seasons. Slowly building up his reputation, hopefully winning a chip or a cup, with a solid organization, away from the spotlight and media pressure.

  • Torschützenkönig - not that difficult, eh?! „Tor“ is etymologically the same „door“, but means gate or goal in German. „Schütze“ is basically a „shooter“, someone who (not something that) is shooting. „König“ is „king“ - there you have it, basically the same languages, only the English were even more keen on latinizing theirs ;). The PL could easily have a gate-shooter-king!

    @duedl@duedl4 ай бұрын
  • Torschützenkönig = compound out of 3 terms and not out of 2 literally ="Tor/Goal" + "Schütze/Shooter + König/King = "Goal-shooter-king" basically expressing "best top scorer" either used club-intern for the team OR used for the whole League depending on the particular context the term "Torschützenkönig" is used. And their top scorer is "Boniface" which has nothing to do with the pronunciation of the English term "face" but is pronounced kinda like - broken down in syllabels - "Boni + far (like "FAR away") + tse (like "Mao - TSE - Tung") = spoken "Boni-far-tse" = written "Boniface"
