The inside of your cars windshield can get a build-up of a greasy film. During the day, this might not be noticeable. But at night, the glare of the light through the grease makes it hard to see. No one likes cleaning the inside of your windshield because reaching all the nooks and crannies is awkward. So when you do clean it, make sure to do a great job, which I am going to show you how in this video.

I like to place a towel over the dash to catch any drips as you do the window. Sometimes I’ll use cardboard as well. Clean the inside window one direction and the outside of the window in another. Easier to spot which part and side was missed by the direction of the wipe.
A rubber spatula works great wrapped in microfiber for reaching the inside of windshield

Former professional window cleaner here. You are basically using the same method I use. However, I highly recommend Sprayway glass cleaner, especially on the inside portion. Sprayway leaves no residue and leaves your car's interior smelling great. I also use is to clean the lavatory and sinks when cleaning the bathroom mirrors.

@@rodrigoduterte853 Yes, Sprayway is safe for tint. I used to do window tinting and found it works great. Use it at your own risk, though. Maybe test a small spot somewhere that is not very noticeable. As for your windshield, are you referring to the exterior portion of your windshield? If so, I would recommend that you remove all water spots before applying sealant or protectant. If the spots are from hard water, try wetting a towel with full strength vinegar and wiping the windshield until you can no longer see any spots. To help prevent water from spotting on your windshield, I recommend applying *Cerakote Ceramic Glass Coat* (Cerakote Ceramic Paint Sealant works well, too). Just follow the directions and I believe you'll be amazed! Apply this *_after_* thoroughly cleaning the windshield. Hope this helps!
@@rodrigoduterte853The classic blue and white bottle is ammonia free. If I’m not mistaken that is the main chemical in glass cleaner that damages tint. So Yes but double check.

We learned in the Army to use newspapers and Windex to clean windows, windshields, or furniture. It will not leave dust or lint.
Pro tip - use a waffle weave low pile microfiber to avoid lint
1/3 distilled water, 1/3 rubbing alcohol, 1/3 distilled vinegar all mixed in a spray bottle, waffle weave micro fiber towels. Spray, wipe clean, wipe dry with fresh towel. Easy peasy and without streaks or grime.
Pro tip - any time you’re going to use any product on the inside of your windshield, lay a large bath towel over the dash first to protect it from anything that might drip.

30% vinegar does an awesome job of cleaning the windshield on my car. It makes it slick as marbles on glass

Place a towel on your dash to avoid drops or incidental contact.
The chip on your windshield can easily be repaired at an automotive glass shop or a mobile repair service, probably at no cost to you. The windshield DOES NOT need to be replaced unless you wait too long and the damage spreads.

Great tips as always. But for us elderly less flexible youngins I'd recommend laying a towel over the dash and get yourself 6-8 inch silicone squeegee. It's a life saver I promise.
I bought a small, angular handheld squeegee off Amazon (used for window tint applications) and it’s an absolute game changer. I drive a Prius, so the large sloping window is difficult to clean. The squeegee and a couple microfiber cloths and it’s crystal clear

I found 0000 stainless steel wool the best outside window cleaner on my car. It removes every bit of dirt, grime and bugs. Rinse well.

I use a solution of half alcohol and half distilled water applied to a clean micro fiber cloth and wash the inside of the window. I do it twice that way changing cloths after the first pass. No drips on dash. I’ve done this for a long time and the inside stays cleaner longer using this method.
The most reliable inside glass technique I've found is a steam cleaner and microfibers. The heat seems to release the various depositions better than chemicals.
Professional Detailer here, I use this method too. 👌Saves on cleaning products, best to fill steamer with distilled water. Just don’t use on tinted glass, window tinters also use steam to effectively break down the adhesive in the film.
Vinegar and water with a couple of drops of dish detergent works better. Use the microfibre cloths to apply and wipe off. Do it in the shade.
But then the car stinks like a.............wellllllllllllllll, nvrmd. This way is infinitely better!

I wonder if it might help to cover the dash with something to keep the oils from it off the microfiber cloth. Maybe newspaper (yuck) or, even better, craft paper or gift wrapping paper. Anything you have laying around could work. Cardboard, cloth like a towel or old T-shirt. There’s An opportunity to Get creative and frugal here! Thanks for the video!!!
You shouldn't put any oil products on the dash. When the car is hot inside, the oil evaporates up from the dash to the windshield
The previous owner of my Lexus RX330 put perfume on the air cabin filter and the oils contaminate the windshield all the time. Not sure how to fix this.

Pro-tip. Clean your dash after the windshield
You don’t want your windshield to be shining. In some lighting conditions it will make your windshield interior surface reflective. That effects visibility because it reflects your dash board into your field of view

Clean glass is shiny glass and clean glass doesn't reflect more light, it lets more light through. Trust me using the right detailing products you can improve your vision vastly, it can make your driving experience seem comparative to watching tv in 4k rather than just standard definition
The only way I’ve ever been able to effectively clean my front windshield is with a small handheld squeegee (bought off Amazon and used in window tint applications). I tried all the tips you suggested, but once I got the small angular squeegee, it was the ticket. And please don’t judge me, I know it’s horrible, I smoke in my car; so if can get my windows absolutely spotless and streak free, anyone can.

I tried everything before the squeegee to get my windows streak free (rubbing alcohol, Mr Clean erasers, expensive glass cleaners, etc) Now it’s a wet microfiber cloth with just a tiny bit of dish soap, the squeegee, and a dry microfiber cloth. So clean!! Word of caution, I used a squeegee on my passenger window and it scratched my window tint. It’s not horrible, but I won’t do that again. I think the front windshield is actually tinted glass and not a film. Live and learn

You could also attach a sprayer to the bottle of alcohol, or poor the alcohol into a spray bottle. It's so convenient!
use Invisible Glass for the interior using a micro fiber and then use a different micro fiber to clean the outside with rainx...windex drys out the rubber seals and wiper blades so dont use it

Water and White vinegar is the best way to clean your windshield.
Wait for a light rainy day & put Dawn dish soap in a line across the top. The rain will gradually make it dribble down over a few hours... no more streaking!
Issue with dawn if it gets on your paint it will eat the wax coating off. U can do that if u have a ceramic coating but if it is just wax I highly don't suggest it
This may work, but all the steps are not necessary. Simply use distilled or demineralized water with some household ammonia in it. Maybe 5 or 6 to one solution, that’s not critical, along with a silicone squeegee. Nothing works as well or is as quick. Keep the solution off of the dash.
Agree with you (although I do use tap water with Dawn dishwashing soap as the cleaning solution, which honestly gets the job done). A silicon squeegee is the key.
Do this in the shade when the glass is cool. 2 microfiber cloths folded into 1/4 size. Spray windex on the cloth outside of the car. Sit in passenger seat do passenger side with right hand, then repeat with dry cloth. Sit in driver seat and do driver side with left hand, it’s less awkward this way.
Standard ammonia based Windex will absolutely destroy any window tint.
Vinegar works just as well.
Cover your dash!!!! If you use something strong the plastic will get stained

91 will evaporate too quickly and not do the job as effectively.

You only really need pure alcohol for cleaning electronics that might corrode. Not necessary on glass.

You can buy a microfiber on an extension. Or if you can manage sit on your in the seat facing the back, and reach behind yourself over the dash. It works better, look for videos to help

Why do you have to do the dry microfiber step first?
It helps to remove the film that forms from the fumes released by the plastics in your car. Before I learned that tip, I was just smearing around the film when I used window cleaner. Make sure you haven’t used fabric softener when cleaning the cloths.
@@dale3404 There are alternate methods. I use a microfiber with an appropriate glass cleaner on it first. Then use a dry microfiber to dry it off. The problem with using a dry cloth to start with is you may rub dust into the glass and cause micro scratches that will be super annoying at dusk.

The inner concave of the windshield is designed to prevent that glare. What you want to remove is the hazy/cloudy film

Ammonia hurts the tint but I think alcohol based cleaners are safe for it. I'll look more into it but I was told to use alcohol based cleaners by my tint shop many moons ago.
There are no states in our Country that allow a front windshield to be tinted……..
Put an old towel on your dash - prevents microfiber from contacting the oily dash.
A lot of work and probably breathing in alcohol. Regular window cleaner with newspaper. A few times a year, works every time. If it's really bad, do it twice.
Cover the dash before doing any of this.

That's actually incorrect. That's exactly what is used to disinfect windshields prior to installation and works very well to clean them. You just don't want to get it on the clear coat paint because that will cause damage

In my experience, those sponges don't do any harm. I've used them many times at home and at work on plastic, acrylic, glass, fibreglass, stainless steel and mirror-finished chrome plated metal. I can attest after using them for many years, they don't scratch anything. The sponges are too fragile to do any harm. They actually start to fall apart after a few decent uses.

You need to get that windshield replaced. That chip could easily morph into cracks and then the windshield will be destroyed. It could happen while you’re driving.
So why not wait until that maybe does happen? It might take weeks, months a year before it spiders out. If it does at all. You could replace you glass today and have another rock take it out tomorrow stretch the use of that glass as long as you safely can.

@804MRMAN yes 😀, I got rock chips and they didn’t replace it with a tinted windhield. I want what you’ve got - but it’s pricey and if it cracks, you have to buy it again and it’s not covered by insurance. I have to get a 3rd party to tint mine.

Thanks for the tip. Here's my advice. You can avoid windshield glass chips by not steering your car into airborne rocks or pebbles. A more experienced driver knows how to avoid this.😛
Kind of hard to avoid flying stones when you're driving down the road & the car you meet throws a stone at your car. My windshield has a chip thanks to that. And a car threw a stone & chipped the paint on my hood

Do NOT use Mr. Clean on the inside of the windows! You can damage the window, especially if you have any type of tint on them.
There should be no tint on the windshield except in the top five inches. That’s law.

You’ve far too much time on your hands!
There is no rocket science to cleaning your windshield or any glass. All you need is pure ammonia and some paper towels. Put some pure ammonia on your paper towel to the point it is dripping and simply wipe your window. let it sit for a min or two and use a dry paper towels to wipe it clean and dry. You windows will be as clean as they can possible be, without much effort. keep you car doors open, the smell of ammonia can be strong to some people.
