I noticed that during wing fortress's pinch mode, the airship gradually lowers down, as evident by the island in the background. It reminds of how during knuckles' final boss in sonic and knuckles, you can see angel island in the background slowly get lower to the ground.
You can also see tails in the backround ... Just without the jets

1. No, there is indeed no Death Egg Zone. Well, you know, it already has like two HARD bosses and you have no rings? And also it would take like half of the video? 2. Hidden Palace doesn't exist in the release version of Sonic 2 and originally didn't even had a boss. 2013 remake is 2013 remake. 3. You can find the boss remix in the description; 4. I have no plans for Pinch Mode 3/CD. But maybe, MAYBE (!) if this animation blows up and gets a lot of views and feedback, I might do it Also special thanks to next people for sharing their ideas for Pinch modes. Man this looks incredibly real. Amazing work. The Oil Ocean boss legitimately scared me when I saw 2 lasers come out the ocean. And I was even more in fear when I saw the laser shoot diagonally upward. I might lose a couple lives if I played a game with that kind of boss.
The pinch mode of mystic cave’s boss would be a good transition into hidden palace zone.
Then what would Brass* Eggman's pinch mode would be?

Awesome! Though metropolis zone technically does have an original pinch, where he uses the lazer, I was surprised it wasn't used here. Though it's just a tiny detail.
The metropolis boss laser could do more than just existing when you only have 1 hit left..
The pinch music is originally from Sonic Advance 2, so it fits that he turned the Metropolis boss to an Advance 2 style chase.

Wouldn't say that. If he actualy did he would have used much bigger and stronger weaponry. Like its a dumb example but like metal Sonic is a great example. I think some of the bosses in Sonic forces as well, had some big robots that Could be more of a challenge then these tiny contraptions. Eggman must be just playing with sonic. No way someone with such a high intelligence is beatem that easily. I mean, he doesn't stop, even after being beaten dozens of times. Its almost a game to him. Tho he gets frustrated cuz he never wins said game

Mystic Cave boss is my favorite in that animation. To be honest, whole animation look really like a game. Only one thing told me that it's not a game. 7:08 Sonic was damaged, but rings disappeared right away... and that shouldn't happen in a game. I know it was supposed to make us nervous, but it also happened to be one and only thing that kind of ruined the brilliant immersion of this animation. Still, great job.
Actually, there are instances that rings disappear immediately in the game.

the way tails move is too accurate, but if Tails could hit eggman like he does in the actual game would make extremely more accurate (Also if tails could also hit him the fight would go to pinch mode quicker...)

Once again, Triangly makes old-school Sonic the Hedgehog bosses more fun and interesting with the addition of desperation phases. Now they do what a boss is *meant* to do. The Pinch Modes for the Boring Rocket* (the Mystic Cave Zone boss) and the Laser Barrier* (the Wing Fortress Zone boss) are the highlights, just for how they escalate the fights into something frantic. 1:04 - Now Sonic 2 is no longer the odd one out of the trilogy for excluding the Checker Wrecker. 6:04 - We interrupt Sonic 2 Pinch Mode Bosses to bring you Sonic 4: Episode 1's Mad Gear Zone boss. * - Fan-names that I came up with.

Considering the music, I think this is more a Sonic Advance 2 reference rather than a Sonic 4 reference.
@@arctic4088 The Pinch Mode music is from Advance 2, but the Pinch Mode boss design that this video went for in Metropolis Zone is clearly taken straight from Sonic 4: Episode 1. The way the bosses change tactics in this video after several hits is also like how the bosses in Sonic 4: Episode 1 worked.

NO RINGS AHH! And I'm not sure if it's because I made it there with knuckles or because the ds version is different, but I can't actually damage the robot by jumping into him. I can only do it by jumping at a precise spot under him, or landing ON TOP OF the spike hands as he attacks with them!

@@Moss_Dude thats the problem,the hands move a lot,and you gotta wait,and hope you made it on top of said hands, cuz´ if you don´t, hope you have extra lives, knuckles bad jump doesnt help,trust me ,i tried tip for you, 1.try climbing a wall(if you can) and go hit him a bit away from the hands 2 get to the right side,but avoid the bombs,and THEN try and attack him

I like how these pinch modes seem to ramp up in both difficulty and extravagance as you progress through the game. If this could be a real ROM hack, I would surely give it a try. Heck, I feel like it would have been easier to make one.

@@fransiscayulianita68 but it's in no way the same. It shoots lasers while going crazy either left or right. In wing fortress pinch boss the laser flickers while moving to the left then right then eggman appears. The only similarity is the laser but it doesn't even do the same thing.

Triangly I have to say that you did an excellent job on the wing fortress boss, and that includes the whole airship falling down, like it's going to crash and the island enters the screen and anyone never gets to see the island itself except in the main menu, again excellent job, thank you so much for this amazing animation.

I legit wish this was a thing in the actual game! These are so on point! Kinda disappointed that there was no final boss pinch mode, but I imagine it would've had something to do with Sonic becoming super and having to fight Eggman while soaring through outer space, similar to Doomsday Zone.

I came back one year later to rewatch this masterpiece and after 4 days this video will have his first anniversary! Man, I remember when I watched this the first time, it feels like it was yesterday...
These are SO well done - totally believable as bosses that could have existed in the game, and they actually look balanced and fun to fight rather than just being over-the-top hard. Would love to see a Sonic 3 version at some point!

To be honest, I never saw someone recreate Sonic 2's animations/physics so accordingly. I mean, come on, Sonic rolls faster when jumping after running than when he does when he is idle ! Did anyone ever noticed that ?

Cool fact : some bosses in pinch mode has references to sonic 1 , but oil ocean boss in pinch mode has some references on sonic mania , and music from sonic advance 2 ( maybe )

Triangly, when you make the sonic 3 and knuckles bosses with a pinch mode, you should use the metal slug 5 boss theme 16-bit remix. I think it’d go great with it.

Man, over half a year since this has been made. Good memories. What would you think if someone were to take your pinch mode ideas and turn them into a mod? Also, do you plan on making a pinch mode for 3 someday (It’s fine if you’re not, I can live with this and 1 being it)
Just noticed this comment, thank you for this pretty feedback :) I have some progress done on Pinch Mode 3 but I don’t think I will ever finish it. It just takes way too much time to animate the gameplay I’d rather reverse-engineered the original bosses code and made a fan game

If you really want to know what Death Egg Zone's Pinch Mode would be, just imagine something similar to Sonic 4: Episode 1's Death Egg Robot Phase 2.

With following you for around 1 and a half years. Im glad to say youve improved alot. I could barely even point out moments when this was not realistic in the sonic 2 engine. This couldve been in the game and i wouldve not noticed :D.

Man the animation in this is so crisp. Almost impossible to tell it apart from real gameplay. There references are incredibly cool too, with the Chemical Plant sprite animation , the Sonic 4 Metropolis boss, and the Marble Zone boss. Also, did anyone get Ristar Planet Scorch (Adahan) vibes from the Mystic Cave boss?

Well realistically Tails does die this much when you play the game so I see this more as something done to make it feel real rather than be insulting. Especially seeing that Tails was useful during the Oil Ocean boss.

Death EGG pinch: after defeating the death egg robot it transforms into something like the doomsday then sonic turns super and the doomsday zone begins.
It has 2 phases one is mécha sonic and second is death egg robot
