In ancient times, humans mixed with deities and demons, the world consisted of Shennong, Xuanyuan, and Gaoxin. Wandering in Dahuang, Jiu Yao from Gaoxin lost her identity and appearance. She settled in Qingshui Town and was renamed Wen Xiao Liu.
The Prince Qiang Xuan of Xuanyuan was Xiao Liu’s cousin. To find Xiao Liu, he travelled around Dahuang and came to Qingshui Town. In Qingshui Town, Xiao Liu saves Tushan Jing from danger and falls in love with him. Xiang Liu and Xiaoliu appreciated each other and became confidants. After a few twists and turns, Qiang Xuan and Xiao Liu eventually recognized each other.
After recovering her identity, Xiao Liu helped Qiang Xuan bring the whole world under his rule and retired from the rivers and lakes. The thoughtless man puts all his energy into governing the country because he knows that as long as the world is at peace, his little boy will be able to be happy and healthy.

  • Xiang Liu is a demon (no human, no deity) so the common moral rules about relashionship don't apply to him. There's a kind of coldness and roughtness that aren't born out of evilness or cruelty but out of loneliness and desperation. I always asked myself why he kept going to her and it wasn't just out of curiosity because he can sense something is off. For his very first time he doesn't feel alone anymore, there's another being who understand him, who shared similar life experience and feels the very same way, but still choose to preserve her kindness and empathy towards others. How could he have not melted? I loved the book and I'm enamored with his character even in the drama: love does conquer it all. It got him totally reformed. He was not bad to begin with, not truly. He had simply built a wall between his heart and the world outside. He is loyal to the general who saved him and he is spending his life to repay him...literally. None had touched his heart thought before her: for the very first time he desclosures human emotions and even when he messed up because he didn't know how to deal with them (mistreating her), he still kept his heart wide open until he will totally gave it up to her. He will give her everything he had never had anyone give it to him: the ability to fight, someone to rely on (whom he knows cannot be himself - even if he will give some try to get her...even by morfing into a female!😂) a place to go where no one could ever find her. He is such a tragic, conflicted and fashinating characther! How could I not 'forgive' and love him?!❤

    • I reached the end of the drama. I love the demon actor Tan Jianci for sure. I love his voice, his micro-actions and everything about him. But I really can't see him as a romance suitor especially after he continues to do the same thing to her: push her into an ocean, break the branch she's on, strangles her, yells at her and etc. A lot of fans prefr this guy as the male lead. Maybe a lot of people love tough boys who lay hands on them. Honestly, if he wasn't a 'cold-hearted' demon or if Tan Jianci didn't nail the role so well, I would think all the fans were mentally ill or something. But I heard that this demon actor do great things for her. Maybe it's that.

    • When she was talking about her past to Xiang Liu she remembered changing her appearance over and over while looking in the water and couldn't remember any more who she was. She had changed into men many times and no longer remembered being female. She finally kept the last appearance of Xiaoliu (a male physician). She had been very ill while wandering alone. She asked him if she could keep that appearance and stay where she was. He is so curious about her but unknowingly was drawn to her also due to her past of having and belonging to no one.

Don’t know why some viewers like that character. And she goes back to him.
