  • 48, still don’t know what I’m supposed to pursue or what I want to “do”. I’ve come to realize not everyone fits into expectations. Some of us are ok to be here and live out life as a well-qualified human being. So much of the paradigm is crafted by capitalism. I guess that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but not everyone fits in the box and somehow life is still worthwhile. Maybe because I’m a woman, but in all honesty much of the discourse belongs to a masculine perspective and experience. Each person is important for their own path and worth as a unique life. You don’t need to produce anything or be anything to be valued and worthwhile.

  • By my late 20’s I realized I can’t work for others. Did some independent contractor work for a while until I started my own businesses. I do not do well with micro-management. I am open to feedback but I’m super responsible so having a Manager or Boss is unnecessary for me and annoying. But I do hire coaches all the time so I can improve and get honest feedback. I share your dislike for workplace dynamics

Then I knew I what I have to be, a boss of my own and not an employee. Now, I’m running an LLC. It’s still a work of progress but atleast I’m starting somewhere right, we will all get there eventually. Persistence and hard-work.❤

  • I found this conversation with Robert Greene so captivating. As we talked, I found myself getting more and more absorbed in his words, his ideas, and his personality. Talk about the Art of Seduction! Yet, I don't think seduction is the full picture. It also felt like Robert is genuine, kind, incredibly bright, and funny. I'll remember this conversation for a long time. If you have yet to become a Robert fan or to read his books, you have a fascinating journey ahead.

  • We are not all narcissists. Mr. Greene has some interesting insights into manipulative & dark personalities, but his extrapolation that we are all narcissists seems more about normalizing his own admitted narcissism. I find it interesting that he never discusses codependent types which usually bond with narcissists as they are typically the quintessential power couple. The narcissist needs someone who will adore them & put up with their ego--who better than codependents who think so little of themselves.

  • When Robert mentions Fabrica in Italy I nearly fell off my chair! I worked there for a couple of years in the late 90s. It was very disfunctional and unpleasant, but also a place where a new life started for me, too. And for many many other people! I feel that it was a shitty place for new personal and professional connections and new exciting directions. I wonder what Robert thinks about this and if he feels that some places in certain times somehow do the job of connecting people, like airports or train stations where people meet, arrive at, depart from, return to and where new directions are possible. When I first discovered Robert Greene I was looking for a good author of good audiobooks to listen to while drawing. He felt so weirdly familiar from the beginning, I found myself alone in the room kind of commenting aloud on what he says in interviews and audiobooks as if I knew him. Then I heard about his experience at Fabrica and thought about the building, the people, the lawn and the fountain in front of the building, the food from the canteen, the dirt road leading there and so much more that I now know we share an experience of. I wonder if it's just me or if sensitive people can sense common links and experiences in people before they even hear about them?

This specific interview has hit something in me that I dropped everything I was doing and listened to it to the end. I'm excited to start reading Robert's books. The part about prisoners he mentioned is absolutely true; I have been working in the prison system for almost two decades; I have seen his books all over the place, but I never got curious. • Thank you very much for the interview. I especially like his comment on being bold. It takes another level of courage and clarity to follow through one's vision in the face of controversy.

  • One of the best discoveries of my life is Robert Green, I wish I had found him fifty years ago. It has taken me way too long to understand what I now understand and Robert has defined it in his books. His books should be a class in school. I am so thankful that I found him. I discovered him reading Ryan Holiday who is also very good read! THANK YOU ROBERT
