Kwame is clueless and emotional. Kenya has left housing to the private sector for decades and the result has been proliferation of slums. Kwame has zero experience in financing huge projects unlike PS Hinga who has a background in banking and financing huge projects. Kwame is a desk economist who just reads economic papers and makes economic theories. Kwame has not produced or quoted any evidence of places where the housing fund has failed. PS Hinga has quoted studies of 10 countries where the housing fund has been implemented; both successful countries and unsuccessful countries. Let Kwame dispute the PS with facts and research studies, not with his gut feeling. Kwame is asking Kenyans to believe his gut feeling, and reject the bill.

@@joeyseclipse3117 We have left housing to the public sector for decades, and they (housing investors) have demonstrated that they will only build decent housing for the wealthy 3% that have a monthly salary of 170k and above. The housing fund is meant to cure this problem. Government comes in when there are market imperfections in the housing market, such as proliferation of slums. In principle, most rational Kenyans agree that we have a problem of shortage of decent housing, and a shortage of job opportunities. I'm happy that we are only disagreeing on the methodology of solving these problems. We will eventually come to a consensus sooner or later.

The 2008 financial crisis began with cheap credit and lax lending standards that fueled a housing bubble. When the bubble burst, the banks were left holding trillions of dollars of worthless investments in subprime mortgages. The Great Recession that followed cost many their jobs, their savings, and their homes.
@prakelianent94311 ай бұрын
There was a stock of housing units. Mortgage brokers were pushing to subprime clients. Investment bankers were packaging MBS. Credit default swaps in the derivatives. In Kenya our capital markets don't have the depth to trigger a bubble. The uptake of the stock of units will be by the middle income not the targeted low income person.

Am very surprised how David Ochieng is a government representative instead of a representative of the people
When you are elected on an odm or UDA ticket you put your party leader first or else....
@@johnmwakilili put the people who elected you first, not even your party leader. Ochieng is simply a disgrace
David Ochieng has never been a representative of the people, & he never will. The guy is a representative of his own stomach.A real tumbocrat politician😅
@@johnmwakilili One thing is for sure, if the higher ups aren't satisfied with your game you become a liability. No one wants that in their Resume...

KWAME that was great ...a true citizen
Even after all this, Ruto is still covering the ears and moving forward...
Hatukuli nyumba!
This boda boda guy clearly does not understand what this bill is all about. There will never be a "watu kutoshanishwa" bs!
This jobs/tenders and supply sheared amongst kales trusts me watu wataliya kwa choo
Awuoro Homabay😂😂
First create mechanisms to fight corruption, grow industries, factories small businesses, agriculture, innovation, employment, etc then people will not have an issue with the bill. How do you tax without first creating opportunities to make money
Kwame Needs to be protected with all cost 🤣🤣
Revolution loading 😢😢
Kwame deconstructed Hinga completely
the things is the president is working on less important issue feed the nation first the income is so low are many people are suffering out there and please make it clear

Mr Hinga needs to explain to me why I need to contribute to a unit that is in an urban area rather than save the money to build a house on my own land?
Ofcourse kwame should represent ndii but politics of rewarding mediocrity could never give him a chance in govt. you can’t talk to people about housing and they can’t feed themselves. What we having in this country is a crisis. We need short term interventions . Si story za abunuwasi.
I think those investors should use their own money at their own cost.... And build those houses 🏘️ Then when does government houses get tenants they will get there money back after some few years They should not force people to give money end month Kwani those investors don't have enough??????
Why don't this government make industrial manufacturing, people get employment, then the same people buy their own houses?
Very true..and but their houses according to their needs and abilities

Kuria, must you mention Homabay for you to convince kenyans.
😂😂
He has no other way to convince people
Kwame said it all
The 2008 financial crisis began with cheap credit and lax lending standards that fueled a housing bubble. When the bubble burst, the banks were left holding trillions of dollars of worthless investments in subprime mortgages. The Great Recession that followed cost many their jobs, their savings, and their homes.
The government can increase the tax on the money we send to Kenya so that we can help people afford housing.
