The anti-tank rifle loved by everyone except enemy vehicles and allied shoulders
Only shoulders. It was already useless by that time.
@@t___m what about mechanized vehicles and light tanks sure it wont go through a medium or heavy or MBT but if the vehicle had thin armour it could be pierced by it
around that time Germans introduced harder and bigger tanks -the likes of PzKfW3 and 4 - were introduced in increasing numbers and these were already more resilient to .55 rounds of these antitank rifles of these kind.. well some even marginalized the effectiveness of 37mm antitank guns already at this point. so these guns became useless against these. also in 1942 German Army introduced The Tiger tanks. which even capable to resist 47mm AP rounds! so Boys are nothing against them.
@@Ig_nis You could still take out a truck or half track, but you could do that with an LMG, let alone an M2. Some nationalities (Russia and I think Italy) used a 20mm AT rifle that was a fair bit more effective - though still out of date by mid war.
@DiscothecaImperialis the fact that you refferred to the Tiger 1 line of tank as "The Tigers" and made them out to be soke sort of mass produced main battle tank that saw a lot of tank-on-infantry fighting instead of being used as a very rare long distance self-propelled anti-tank gun as it actually was tells me everything i need to know about your knowledge of ww2 tanks. The fact you also went on to say "The Tigers" were immune to 47 mm guns only solidifies my belief that youre a dumbass and probably Italian. Who tf uses a 47 mm gun as a reference point? Not only was it only used by Italians and maybe Japanese at this point but the Tiger 1 was able to resist much bigger and more powerful guns at ranges it was actually used at, or even smalled ranges if the armor is angled slightly. The American 75 mm and soviet 76 mm could not penetrate the armor at 500 meters without hitting the same spot multiple times which would cause the armor to fail
"A rifle's like a woman. If you treat her right she will never let you down". I'll keep that in mind ;-)
A rifle is a woman, you can feed her , give her accessories, take her to nice places, treat her well... and she will still bust your eardrum if you aren't careful... Also, she will bust your finger if it's where it isn't supposed to be. Also, she can go anywhere for any reason. Also, she looks nice in any color, except when hello kitty is involved Also, can say the same thing in every language, no matter the language, with a single glance. Whether it be " I'm here for everyone" or " I'm here for YOU"

back then framerate is very high. a hugh effort with cel animation technology. there were so many 'in between' animators in the studio. and yes with Dominion of Canada (and ultimately the British Empire) immense fundings. the immense labor needs are no problems. And I think British Army would use these films primarily. despite that the weapon itself became obsolete too fast (and only Bazookas type weapons replace them. in case of Brits. PIAT replace it).

"...improvements in vehicle armour during the Second World War left the Boys largely ineffectual as an anti-tank weapon. A shortened version was deployed in 1942 for issue to airborne forces and saw use in Tunisia, where it proved completely ineffective because of the reduced velocity caused by the shortened barrel. A further limitation was that the Boys rifle was relatively heavy and unwieldy to carry."
What about ПТРД?
Imagine you go against a Tiger with that gun. You could also just throw rocks at that point. German tanks were tough as shit. The only thing these guns could take down were light armor if they hit it in a good spot.
Crazy how hitler loved Disney films, but Disney made films making fun of him and teaching Americans how to destroy his tanks

Even in the mid-1980s ear-pro was optional in the US Military.
Your hearing loss has not been determined to be service related.
yeah i have a family member that is damn near deaf from firing the m1 garand constantly without ear protection whilst in the military. Those anti-material rifles and firing tank rounds from inside a tank must have made some men 80% deaf at 60.
1:37 oh fuck that's an anti tank rifle, OH FUCK THAT'S AN ANTI TANK RIFLE!!
And that was this moment that he knew... He fucked up.
@@user-mi8ef4qd2k actually Germans have similiar antitank rifles. probably slightly better. but in the end (1942) Bazookas made a debut in North Africa. and it replaced Antitank Rfiles completely since mid-war tanks (since PzKfW3 and 4 onwards) are all harder. and aren't even affected by antitank rifles round anymore. (actually nearly immune to 37 or even 47 mm 'Antitank cannons' rounds as well, which once worked well against early war tanks.) it was then German Army introduced PzKfW6 'Tiger' which was a real heavy tank. something 75 / 76 mm rounds at that time can't do anything and it needed combined efforts of air attacks and artillery to put that tiger down.

It's called war. The US government said you can either pick up a rifle or pick up a pencil, and I bet you can guess which the Disney animators chose.
This was made for soldiers not regular audiences.

@@macdaniel6029 Yes, but it peters out around the Pzkw III which was becoming the mainstay, along with the Pzkw IV, of the panzerwaffe. By '42, you're needing bazookas/PIATs and 6lbr/57mm guns, and even they are starting to struggle.

Corr. : *Oh boy, u think us German speakers talk like that?* Gern geschehen, mein Freund. :)
Back in days, this used to be a military training movie for the BOYS Mk.1 anti tank rifle.. unbelievable 😂😂😂..
Later in the war how effective were they against tracks, vision blocks and road wheels? I imagine if you could shoot a wheel you might shatter it?
You could use it against tracks, vision blocks, or other breakables on the outside of the tank. Having said that, it's not something I'd want to be relying upon to stop a Panzer IV, a Panther, or a Tiger.
Interestingly, in Korea, US forces borrowed some Mk. I*'s from the Canadians, double-charged the powder, added a scope, and used it as a sniper's rifle. Effective range against infantry was reported as 2,000 yds/1.13 miles, or about 1,828 meters. Unofficially, I knew a Korean war vet that actually did this. They said the recoil "felt like it was ripping off your arm" but it was man-sized-target accurate to the roughly 1,200 yards he shot out to. Like most, he didn't see the point in something like this at the time.
@@calanon534 Recoil I can imagine. I've had the opportunity to fire a few prototype .50 Caliber Browning chambered rifles and felt like a crash test dummy. No muzzle brakes or Recoil pads. At least they weighed approximately 45lbs each.

I amazed how good this animation looks!
6:02 back then the tank featured here is Panzer 2 (there are so many models made, with different track bogie designs). 6:13 in the end REAL big guns are needed. Antitank rifles like this one only actually cripple them so bigger weapons will finish them off. rather than killing these tanks outright. later on. Bazookas and derivatives were proven better alternatives as it can actually destroy enemy tanks with their own ammunitions. The intro scene said its all. that artillery finished that Lastboss tank off.
