I agree. I am a Red Wings fan, but I tip my cap to the Blackhawks for the tremendous effort in this series, and I knew it wouldn't be long before they would be in Detroit's shoes and top-notch Stanley Cup contenders for years to come.

Man I miss these days! After 09 things were never the same. This was the last season the wings were so elite! The Hawks were young and just weren't ready for the wings.......Should have won cup back 2 back seasons 😕

Nothing better than playoff goalie duels. Those saves by Osgood and Huet in the last minute of game 5. Good god.
Game four at Chicago when the arena was silent due to the big red wings lead, the announcer said "this arena sounds like 2 years ago" And hawk fans claim to have been fans for forever
Osgood never really got enough credit. And watching franzen here I can see why he was chosen over Hossa...you can see the injuries from the previous series starting to add up...Hossa, datsyuk, and then they had to get through the pens....this was the year that was always a bitter memory, nice to see it now when the ending of it all isn't so freshly painful...looking forward to the 2009 finals video (sort of) maybe I'll skip the ending Thanks again for the hard work and posting!

Ozzie never did get the credit your right. I always thought Hossa would have been the better sign he was more consistent in his career than Franzen was.
This series was a lot nastier than I remember. In many ways this and the Ducks series probably cost us the cup due to all the injuries (Hossa tearing his rotator cuff, Datsyuk one leg, Lidstrom getting his scrotum busted open)

We had a great shot 2013. We had most of this roster and we choked a 3-1 lead against the hawks. Idk how we would have done against the kings in the WCF though.

@@owenl.8885 I think we had a shot in 2011 too. We were close to beating the Sharks. We also had even more of this roster than we did in 2013. I feel like we had a good chance against the Canucks too
The refs seemed to get worse after the 09 finals screw job. Didn't matter what the wings did, they were always shorthanded. Never seen a team get screwed as much as the wings.

Kronwall hit on Havlat was 100% clean. League just doing work for chicago. Dustin Byfuyglin got away with a punch. What a stupid call. Byfuglyn types of players have to start a scrum every time someone on their team gets hit. Absolute non sense.
After watching all of these Highlights....Osgood is literally the only reason we got as far as we did.

Man the refs had it out for the wings that whole year. Made every win that much better. Wings took so many cheapshots from every team that went uncalled. Wings should have won the cup in 09.
