  • My only accident was a high side in 2007, my back was absolutely destroyed after hitting a road sign. Something like this could have saved me months of rehab for my back and trunk strength.

    • @@BikesandBeards most ship chandleries would stock those, but in the midwest (where I think you’re located) probably only large fishing stores would. But yes, not a common item. Smaller cartridges used in some BB or pellet guns would be easier to find, but might lack the volume to fully inflate the vest.

    • and you feel more confident bc you know it works

      @BikesandBeards@BikesandBeards2 жыл бұрын
    • It's false confidence. People who wear ppe drive faster than they're capable of because they feel safe. In actuality they are blocking mobility and visibility, while raising the center of gravity and adding dead mass for when they wreck. You are twice as likely to wreck while wearing a helmet but half as likely to die.

    • There’s different types of airbag vests, some like the one in this video, and the accelerometer kind that requires sending back to the manufacturer to refill, and as F9 said in his video, they could always say “sorry, this vest isn’t safe to reset, you’ll have to buy a new one”

    • I have a HitAir vest and they recommend replacing the vest after six deployments regardless of outer appearance and condition.

      @RideWithRen@RideWithRen Жыл бұрын
    • alpinestars race vest has a 2 deployment limit before both co2 cartridges need to be serviced and replaced. So if you bought a cheaper version I honestly would toss it because I wouldn't know if the bladder of the vest can actually hold multiple deployments. I had the first Helite airbag vest when u first started riding and it was great. but I would spent $500-700 to have the A-Stars vest.

  • I love that you bought the inflatable vest. I've got a HitAir brand airbag vest, it used to be the cheapest one on the market and it was like $500! According the HitAir, the neck collar is the most significant protection these things offer and the neck collar on the amazon vest inflated really fast! I think its worth it based on your quick demo.

    • Is the hit air worth the 500? Provide good protection? I already broke 2 vertebrae in my back skydiving. & my tailbone.

      @JohnnieV@JohnnieV2 ай бұрын
    • @@JohnnieV It depends. I find that I don't wear mine very often and in my case it probably wasn't worth it. I think the company only having a few products, just motorcycle and horse riding airbag systems, is reassuring. All of their r&d goes into these airbag systems, not just motorcycle gear in general.

      @uglypinkeraser@uglypinkeraser2 ай бұрын
    • @@JohnnieV The hit-air vest does inflate and unfold around the neck and down the back, a flap at the bottom folds out during inflation covering the tailbone. Personally I'm not convinced it will inflate fast enough to provide protection from the first strike against a car or the ground but better safe than sorry.

      @uglypinkeraser@uglypinkeraser2 ай бұрын

  • The airbag vests are legit. I just took my motorcycle safety course and our instructor was talking about how it literally saved his life going at highway speeds and being thrown off his bike that was totaled. He had minor injuries and was able to go home the same day, the doctors were shocked and had no idea what the vest was until he showed them. Unsure what type of velvets he used though, I don’t think it was the one with the cable like this one, but maybe it was idk The point is that they’re legit.

    @stresslee@stresslee Жыл бұрын
    • There are electronic ones(aka you don't have to be tethered to the bike, but you have to charge your "air-jacket", so yeah...), but the problem with them is the fact that a lot of those on the market are crappy(they usually have a small inflate volume and don't inflate enough to block your helmet to prevent the neck injuries) also some have "subscriptions"(aka you have to pay a monthly fee for it to function) imagine how cool it would be to die because your subscription period expired or it just thought it expired! That's the cyberpunk we deserve

  • Been loving this series. Have actually purchased a couple of the items from previous videos, and they've been working great. (bluetooth helmet mic/headset dealy & the alarm + fob combo) I'd probably split it and do legit 'stupid' accessories, and another video for potentially 'useful' accessories,... maybe scope out further than Amazon and really go hard in to the Wish and AliExpress stuff, but that's just me. I know I'd watch both, but can't speak for everyone. But yeah, one of the few series on KZhead that I watch and keep up with atm.

At first I also worried about setting it off accidentally, but the cord starts stretching a bit if you forget and it reminds you. Plus, I’m usually giving the bike a quick scan before I walk away, making sure I didn’t leave keys in the ignition, tucking away gloves and stuff, and you pretty quickly see the cable. Have compared side by side with much more expensive model and they look and feel similar in quality. Have NOT used it in a crash. Nice review btw.

    • Fortnine has his friend hit him with a golf club. The back is very well protected but the biggest protection is actually on your neck. If your neck snaps, you're dead. Combined with a full face, the airbag can protect your neck. This cheap-o airbag still seems to provide neck protection, even if back protection is subpar compared to the helite. That being said, I also the helite turtle and what convinced me was fortnine. Glad your MSF instructor demonstrated. He must be passionate to save lives. Helite should send him free refills to deploy since $20 each time he deploys it isn't cheap if you combine it by the number of classes they do per year.
