  • Hi Chris... In Dutch and Flemish we pronounde the combination of letters "ij" like English speaking people pronounce the sound "y" in the word why. And the second part of Zijlaard his name is like the English word art, but you make sound the "a" sound a bit longer... But no worries, the whole world has problems pronouncing Dutch and Flemisch names correctly.... But first I was thinking that you where speaking about a German or Swiss rider called Zickler or something similar. 😅 Thanks for another great video 🦋

  • I was never close to being a pro tt cyclist but its hard to imagine why anyone would want to ride a TT bike on this course way too many corners and handing needed with very few long straights to get going at speed where aero would have an impact. Juian Allipilippe went full road bike setup and worked for him...this really wasn't a course for pure tt guys..3km hardly enough time to get into a rhythm.

    • Good for big power though that can handle the bike. I never said a TT specialist was a favorite to win though. Just a rider with power over a small rider because we all know the Gc riders wouldn’t risk much and we all know JA loves to live on the edge. 😂🦋👊

      @ChrisHornerCycling@ChrisHornerCycling11 күн бұрын
    • @@ChrisHornerCycling yeah I agree gc guys had no interest in the stage risk vs reward for a very small time gain not worth it . I was just surprised more riders didn't make it easier on themselves and just go with the road bike. Perhaps they wanted to just get the feel of it before the longer tt in a few days.

Raced with/against him for many years down in So Cal, did Nats in Bend in 2010-12 (Redmond in '12 if I remember correctly)...... too old to race anymore but I miss it. • Chris do you think we could see Tadej Pogacar go to the Vuelta if he wins the Giro and the Tour, or do you think he would let a chance to make history slide for a well earned vacation

    @tlr5519@tlr551912 күн бұрын
    • Sliding into World Championships*. Giro Tour WC is the most prestigious combo (also it showcases his incredible versatility), Giro Tour Vuelta would make him the first one to win all three Grand Tours in one season. (Merckx, Hinault and Froome have done it in succession, but not in the same season) I think Pogacar's heart would choose WC, but it would be a unique chance to write history with 3GTs. I think he would do the Vuelta.

      @smeetsnoud1@smeetsnoud112 күн бұрын
    • Pogacar might be able to win the Triple Crown of cycling this year, i.e. the Tour of Italy, the Tour of France, and the Road World Championship, not to mention the Il Lombardia and maybe something at the Olympics.

      @regismonkton@regismonkton12 күн бұрын
    • If I was pog I would do the Vuelta also if I felt good still the week or two before it started but I would play it by ear and never say I was going so that the organizers called me and perhaps motivated me more to go. 😜💵👊🦋

  • Tao Geoghengan Hart did win the Giro, but there’s an asterisk next to his name. You’ll recall at that time there was only one team with a budget big enough to complete with Ineos. Jumbo Visma. When Jumbo pulled the entire team out of the Giro due to lack of Covid protocols, let’s be honest and acknowledge that there was no competition left for Ineos. Even when their team leader Geraint Thomas crashed out, Ineos simply took a domistique and won with him. So yes, Tao won the Tour but……….really? *******
