Today I found out how awesome this system is. I entered a turn too fast on wet road, car started skidding, but in less than a second I could hear ESP applying brakes, it sounded like pulsating vibrations from the wheels and the car magically got back on track. Thank you engineers, this is awesome! :)

@@kunalmore5212 the same happened with my 2 cars. I took the curve at high speed on wet road and the rear started uncontrollably slipping. Car sensed it under a second and gave me the control back by applying brakes automatically. ESP saved me 2 times. My both cars were Mercedes C Class.

Wasn't until today when I truly appreciated the ESC. I was approaching a turn in snowing conditions, and I was going too fast. Thanks to the ABS and ESP I managed to slow down in time and take the turn...

Trust me, i have a 97 ranger with no abs or traction control what so ever and you do not want to be drifting is skidding when swerving or trying to stop while turning lol

It's actually pretty hard to drift in a single line like in 2:00. Props for the smooth drift.

Some crazy lady was driving so slow on the freeway trying to switch lanes.. got into my lane suddenly.. this possibly saved my life.. idk how I swerved so well though.. my eye hand coordination helped somewhat

Used as an assistant by a good competent driver it's literally a life saver but it won't make a bad driver a good driver!

The best systems are so good, you don't even know they're working. Take a corner fast in the rain, and it just goes around the turn like in dry pavement.

The problem is, agressive drivers who dont know what they are doing, are constantly activating stability control and think they are driving good. Also, they think the car is capable although ESP is extracting maximum of the car...
That's the main reason why the auto makers made it so the dash light for ESC lights up when it's active, to remind you that you're pushing the car's limits.
2:02 DEJA VU!
To have experienced the 2:02 drift with an old Alfa Romeo, the rear Differential Limited Slide with Auto Blocking (DGL + AB) smoothen the drift if you slightly lower the gas. No electronics. Of course ESP would have avoided any drift all. But all did agree that car had a personnality. Went through a wet railroad crossing in a turn... Therefore speaking of ESP as a god-like feature is false, because there was already very capable devices to reduce high speed wheel drift. (at the time it was more rally oriented than anti "tokyo drift feature")

Let me tell you a big difference between games and this kind of video: Games are waste of time, doesn't teach anything and because of those, people become addict and their health become bad. Those kind of videos are instructive and teach something. Sadly in this vidéo there is music too which makes it bad.

It is on by default every time the car is started.
if you see yellow ESP logo on dashboard, mean it's off.
Yes automatically on by default. However many car makers provide a button to turn the Traction Control function off, like if your car is stuck in sand. Usually once your car reaches 10 MPH / 15 KPH then ESP and Traction Control is automatically re-engaged.

If stability control is working correctly it will keep you on your path, so don't steer towards oncoming traffic and you'll be fine.

The Mitsubishi EVO 1-9 don't have it but still running better than it . All the car company actually just want to reduce the cost so start to use electric control because it the best way to reduce machining accuracy

No driver is going to react or respond perfectly in every situation. There are too many variables.

no idea, but theyre in alot of German cars including my golf fsi.
There are many different names for stability control but it was made a government requirement in the past few years. So an older car may not have it. My 2009 Pontiac has it. GM version is Stabilitrak.

ABS is for brakes it helps to not lock up the brakes
Yes ABS / anti-lock braking system makes electronic traction control and electronic stability control possible. You cannot have ESP / DSC / Traction Control without ABS.

и не надо! если любиш ехать быстро, может здёрнуть с дороги! у мерса не полностю отключается, едеш на пределе по внешней стороне поворота, вдруг дёрг! машина распремляет траекторию и еле хватает места и времени на 120кмч вписатсья в поворот, уже несколько раз так пугала, выдернул бы предохранитель, но на нём и АБС висит..

Different names for the same system, every car maker has a different term for it. Stabilitrak, ESP, ESC, all the same.
Fast and furious drifting drivers don't . Cause they doing for that only. You prevent from that.

ASR is acceleration slip regulation, also known as traction control. If a wheel is spinning faster than the others, such as if you try to floor the gas in gravel, the system slows down the wheel using brakes or cutting power to regain traction. Stability control deals more with higher speed mishaps.

Press and hold for 3 seconds, fully disables it. Unlike other manufacturers (Mercedes) you can actually turn it all off.
