The New Despicable Me 4 Trailer Is Tactically Hiding Something...
Illumination have dropped the 2nd trailer for their latest Minion instalment that is Despicable Me 4! And it's an interesting trailer, because it has so little Gru! And I think that's an interesting piece of marketing that makes a lot of sense from Illumination Studios. After all, it's the prequel Minion movies that have done so successfully. Are kids really here for the ensemble Gru family anymore? As much as this franchise is incredibly popular, I feel like I'm starting to see the cracks of concerns coming through with this 4th movie. At the same time, it's now revealed to be a superhero parody... in 2024. Doesn't that seem a little late? Or is it perhaps the perfect time to establish the Mega Minions now that the superhero genre seems to be well and truly fading?

Honestly, I think they screwed up when they released the second one. I’m sorry to be so negative, but they had the perfect opportunity for an over-arching villain, the head of the villain bank, and he only made a cameo in minions 2? The sequels could’ve been about him trying to get revenge on Gru for what happened to Vector by contracting different villains.

Tbh, I kinda wanna see a movie about Gru forming a squad with his old "partners in crime" who, just like him, have redeemed and retired from villainy to be heroes (or more moral people). To stop a threat that only Gru knows how to stop.

You know, if there was a twist with the villains where it turns out they are the biological parents of the gorls, it would actually add some much needed depth to this film, much like what the original movie had 14 years ago.

You know who should've been the main antagonist? Scarlet Overkill. Have her be this bitter old woman who never got over the fact Gru stole the queen's crown from her, and also still has it out for Kevin, Stuart, and Bob.
No, better storyline. Scarlett Overkill finally becomes the Queen of England claiming she’s not a villain anymore. Just to have a secret villain underground gang filled with all 3 villains we seen before. Victor, El Macho (but he’s actually buff) and Brat. They all share one goal, to get revenge and kill Gru and his family. Instead of the goofy Gru, Gru realizes he has to become the man he once was. Along prepared with Dru, who should become a more serious character.

Well Despicable Me never really had a strong reputation with sequels in comparison to Kung Fu Panda. The 1st film is still the only film in the franchise people like.

here's how I would make despicable me 4: There's a secret villain league with the best villains (our main villains we follow throughout the movie) Some of these villain's include Vector's dad (he leads the group), Vector, El Macho, Dance Guy (I forgot his name), Dru, the new guy from this movie, and some new other people We could have these villains attack Gru, and that's why he goes to the bunker seen in the trailers Dru could be double-agent who wants to be bad, but it actually a good guy 😮 Dru could betray the villains and go warn Gru The minions go work for the AVL after learning about the villain league We could have this epic battle scene where some of the lesser, smaller villains (Vector, the new guy, other randoms) fight Gru on maybe a flying ship or something Vector kidnaps Gru's family, and they have a little battle scene together Soon, Gru loses everything and just has his minions Gru tells the AVL about one final attack the villain league is planning The AVL comes with all its agents and minions and fight back against the villains Gru gets his family back, but all the villains come out, including Vector's dad (the big bad) They all have a final battle similar to Avengers: Endgame cuz it would be cool 😎 Gru defeats the big bad (who was in a robot mech suit in the shape of a minion) They have a... dare I say....... DANCE PARTY 🤮 at the end

If Illumination makes up for what they lost in the box office for "Migration" in "Despicable Me 4", I'm pretty sure they don't need to have such low budgets anymore now that they've pretty much got their feet off the ground. The only problem is that they aren't even willing to go that far. I hope that changes soon.
I feel like this should be the last Despicable Me movie
Am I the only one who wants this as a 5th movie? What if all of Grus villians teamed up? (Vector, El Macho, Balthazar Brat, Maxime) Gru would be outnumbered so he would need to look for his own hero team to fight them. The vicious six (from rise of gru) could maybe like him all retire from villians (or at least be less deceptive) so he tries to recruit them to fight back. (Or even form his own hero team with his own heroes) I feel like this would be an elite and epic climax to despicable me.
You forgot Scarlet Overkill and the Vicious 6. Geriatrics are villains, too.

Yeah I’m looking forward to it, and I’m very curious to know what the villain’s motive is but also happy it’s not being given away. Something I feel Illumination has improved with recently is making sure their trailers don’t spoil.

An interesting thing about the marketing for this movie is that when Lego revealed the new sets, Universal strike down any videos that talked/showed them off. I guess they weren't ready to revealed them yet given the story implications ntm the Mega Minions (Who I originally thought were the bad guys in this movie) but those sets were revealed before they put out the second trailer which introduced them.

One little correction: it’s not a super hero fatigue, it’s a bad movie fatigue. Marvel and Disney, along with other news outlets will say it’s “super hero fatigue” to lead peoples focus away from the actual cause to why there’s no interest in those movies. People do still really want super hero movies, it’s just that the people making them are either writing very lazy written stories, adding blatant messaging that involves what people consider social problems/standards today, or they literally don’t follow source material from the comics based on which hero it is, which is what that fan base wants from those movies. Most of the time, it’s all 3 of those reasons. Lately there’s been an increase in people actually not paying to go see the new movies instead of just complaining about why don’t like it and paying to see it anyways. They’re doing it because the people making the movies aren’t listening to the fans and obviously, not paying to see those movies is probably the only method that will get them to listen. This talk about super hero fatigue has gone on even before Spider-Man No Way Home came out, and that movie did great when it released. At the moment, Deadpool & Wolverine is getting a lot of positive attention. People are still skeptical about it since it’s Marvel Disney, and because of how they’ve just been on a failing streak for the most part, but there’s definitely more positive attention for Deadpool & Wolverine just from its trailers and from news coming from people working on the set. Ryan Reynolds has been doing what he can to make sure that this movie doesn’t have the same problems as the other ones. He literally has been stopping Bob Iger from trying to sneak in the very things that has been driving Marvel fans away. One thing I could be wrong or misremembering, is when Bob Iger finally gave up on trying to tamper with the movie, he said the acception is that the movie won’t get as much promotion as most Marvel Disney movies for “budget reasons”. I wrote a book here so I’m sorry about that. When I finished and looked at my comment afterwards, I had to edit it to write this apology.
I feel like there getting a tiny bit overboard with despicable me, i still love most of their movies cause they are really funny, but in my opinion this should be the last one and then they can move on to something else and maybe they can make a remake in the future or something i dont know..

This movie seems like it’s going to be a cluster fuck with so much different shit going on in it, makes me worried that all the characters won’t get the necessary time needed to develop anything, and don’t give the “it’s a kids movie” excuse because there’s plenty of grate kids movies that actually have depth to them
